Not everyone marries for romantic love, jessa most likely married him because he is easy going and would give her alot of autonomy compared to what most women have in that religion. She's probably happy enough with him given that she married very young and mostly to get out from under her dad. Jessa has always come off as very self important and righteous, so maybe after the first few years of marriage the reality of her life set in and now she's trying to make peace with it

Jessa definitely has freedom, but in exchange she is doing everything about the house and kids. Ben socializes at church, writes his sermons, come home for dinner, play with kids and have sex with Jessa. Jessa is left alone to handle everything else. They also don't travel, just maybe once a year to California for 3 days. Their kids could really enjoy a trip to a Gulf beach from time to time, at least. Look at Jed/Katey - they went to Europe when Katey was like 6 months pregnant, then to Israel, then to Hawaii, then when the new baby was born they went with both kids to Yellowstone with Joy and Austin. But Jessa has her kids either studying or in the yard playing. Spurgeon is 8, Henry is 7, they would enjoy so much a quick trip to Europe to see a real castle.
