im in the uk and my daughter buys from shien, im amazed at how cheap everything is but theres a reason for that, if you can make a sweater for $20 including shipping from the other side of the globe, questions have to be asked. I buy from companies in Europe, ill pay more but have better quality pieces that last longer, i think the chinese market is big enough-they can do without my money, also think Jeff Bezos has enough money so dont use Amazon either. That being said , i love the channel and agree with everything you say, youve made me a better dresser, so cheers for that, Merry New Year!
Thank you! It’s just really interesting. The black sweater I talked about seems to be every bit as good as other sweaters I have in my closet that cost over $100. Maybe the price is a reflection on US brands markups.
Done the round of top designer classical pieces shopping that lasts ages, as well as the buying quality garments stage, currently in the look more fashionable with more options stage so shein is awesome

Yes he forgot to talk about that. In my experience I’m happy as long as you know what you get for cheap. Black items stay black so it’s quite good. Color ones fade a little bit with washing, so will not last long in my wardrobe

In addition to your amazing channel, I also follow other style / fashion channels and most of them do not recommend SHEIN because of their atrocious treatment of workers, indirectly through their contracted manufacturers. I.e., slave labor. Please check out the many stories about SHEIN. Thank you.
Some of SHEIN’s suppliers could be just a family business in their own home. In return for orders, SHEIN demands the lowest prices and exclusive business relationship agreements with them. Their aggressive business tactics are raising eyebrows.

I prefer to pay a bit more(under budget) for good clothes that I can wear for years...some of my shirts are more than 10 years,n they are still in very good shape

I've gotten to the stage where I'd rather buy one piece of clothing that's supposed to last me longer than buy something with the prospect of throwing it away in a year. This is where I see a huge advantage to classic menswear. Plus, as they say, buy cheap, buy twice.

It did have a reputation for sending you stuff that was nothing like what you thought you bought. I think these things get better as the company matures and gets rid of some of its - let's say less than wonderful - suppliers. If I remember correctly Ali Express went through the same thing. Personally, I like to "feel the width" of stuff before I buy it ... mostly.
You can move a headquarters to anywhere in the world without moving the factories likely using slave labor to produce the goods. How else are such cheap prices accomplished? The move to Singapore was trying to "put a dress on a pig", and fueled by unthinking people wanting insanely low prices.

SHEIN has ripped off many designers and smaller companies, that I follow on Instagram. I avoid them. I still get online ads from them but, I prefer to support the smaller ma and pop type companies even though it might cost more.
Very nice video. I may check them out, but I have purchased some things from JC PENNEY for about the same prices. I do want to incorporate some textures into my wardrobe, so that is on my list.
SHEIN’s business model, by their own admission, is not about quality but quantity. They don’t expect people to wear their items for more than one season, hence the cheap price. They expect people to buy from them every season to basically keep up with the latest trends and styles. Their objective is fast inventory turnover, calling it Fast Fashion. As soon as the sale of a certain item drops below a certain level, it is immediately replaced with something else. They add and delete hundreds of items everyday, by using a network of thousands of small clothing producers. They also stock very little inventory. Clothings are made only when there is an order. This dramatically reduces overhead and is the key formula for their success.
"Fast Fashion" in a nutshell. They also got into a little trouble from "borrowing" designs from luxury brands. Even worse, creating items "inspired" by small, upcoming designers. Such is the nature of the business, I suppose.
Let's remember, too, that "fast fashion" is how women's fashion...quantity, not quality, different style for every season... has worked for many decades. What women will accept is not necessarily what men should accept, if we're talking about men over 40 looking more at enduring styles and quality rather than "fast fashion."
I’d rather buy better names in local stores. Big Canali fan, it goes on sale. Wait for a sale, most stuff goes on sale. Rather buy quality & better fit.

Those prices (usually) equates to quality of fabrics and amount of times you'll get to wear it. For mw personally, id rather spend more in very good quality brands that will last for ages and cry about it once, rather than buy cheap items that keep deteriorating and replacing them every couple of years
Fast disposable fashion is absolutely vile. Cheap is cheap is cheap. There is no free lunch. Bad for your wardrobe, bad for your wallet, bad for the environment, bad for workers, bad for landfills around the world.
Oh shutup. Just because it's cheap, it's not everything you mentioned. Most of the designer brands you buy that are marked up 230% go fill the pockets of a few men higher up the ladder, making the filthy rich, richer.

Fast fashion sucks because it is exceptionally environmentally damaging and socially destructive. You can go on buying it because you have a right to be a jerk and an ah. But don‘t rationalize it with stupid arguments like the one you are making. There is a huge difference between the two.
sorry, not going to even consider this. when I buy a reasonably or high priced item, what I also buy is the right to expect the product to be produced under ethical conditions. If not, I have the right to be...disappointed. This? Buy anything from these people, or Wish, or TEMU, Primark etc. and I dare you to be outraged by the next documentary you see about child labor or appalling working conditions. I'm frankly wondering what led you to help promote this business model.

@@40OverFashion it's not political. you're absolutely right - Chinese products as such can't be avoided, that's a fact of life whether we like it or not. There is just no reason to join the moral or enviromental race to the bottom by recommending shops like these. It's way more fundamental than politics: It's recognising that our choises have consequences and accepting responsibility. To me, that's core to being a gentleman.
