World Showcase in Epcot provides the unique opportunity to experience different cultures from around the world. The Japan Pavilion is one of the more popular offerings, with two of its restaurants and gift shop operated by the Mitsukoshi group.
For years, the restaurants Mitsukoshi operated here were Tokyo Dining and Teppan Edo. With Tokyo Dining focusing on Sushi, and Teppan Edo providing classic Hibachi.
Recently, Tokyo Dining was closed to make way for Shiki-Sai. This new restaurant attempts to provide an experience that more closely resembles the virtues of Epcot. Shiki-Sai's décor changes seasonally to reflect Japan's seasonal festivals throughout the year. The Cast Members provide insights into Japanese culture, customs and cuisine.
We stopped by during their soft opening to see everything this new restaurant has to offer. It truly was a uniquely Epcot and Walt Disney World dining experience that we can't wait to experience again and again. See our thoughts, favorites and whether this is our new favorite restaurant at Epcot.

Oh my god those close ups had me DROOLING! Sushi and Japanese food is my favorite. This is one of the best reviews you’ve ever done. The explanations on the food & Japanese terms and descriptions of the flavors and textures were so riveting. And so many consecutive high ratings too (two 10s!), watching this was such a pleasure. We keep talking about when we’re going to go back, it was so phenomenal. I was so nervous about this review, because I wanted to do this place justice and I was worried about saying things wrong, because I didn’t want people to think we were disrespecting their culture. Wow. Put this on a list of must Try restaurants. Everything looked amazing. That dragon roll is everything I want. Eel is one of my favorite types of sushi. Great video amazing cutaway. So much fun.

I generally try to preface any review stating it and one of the reasons we always try snacks on our countdown vids is because we've had quality control issues many times. This video made us excited for our trip to Japan and we are already planning to visit this place in April to do a comparison of 4 of the foods that they have that we are trying in Japan! The yakatori, the ominomiyaki, the Wagyu and the Karage Chicken. Having worked at Disney on and off since 2003, I have seen that place get changed Soooooo many times! The only thing that's really stayed the same was the Habachi! It makes me so happy that the representatives are back to their respected areas too! I'm also curious if they will change their menus seasonly seeing Japan has different festivals. I loved how they incorporated the famous landmarks or items that represent Japan for their decoration. All the food had us drooling! It looked really good! Can't wait to check this place out.

The cultural representatives make World Showcase special and our experience here really exemplified that. It's great to see them back 🙂. What a beautiful new restaurant! I love Japanese menus like that - it goes on my must do list for next time I really enjoy le cellier- always had good service and excellent food - though a few disappointments - and I feel the room is totally dark and crowded and dank - I know it's supposed to be a cellar - I just don't want to eat in a cellar lol Lovely video - seeing you guys always make me smile So glad it's finally cool - same here - today it's a blissful 76! What a difference weather makes Sending you both a giant hug

It really was incredibly picturesque. Such a great menu too! When I said Le Cellier was my favorite, I was more so referring to the food but I'd definitely say the experience here is better. Also, the food is on par with Le Cellier. I do feel it is a bit dark in the old Cellar 😆. It really is crazy how weather effects your mood. We were so happy. Felt like one of those core memory nights. Thank you! That means a lot. We're both sending you a hug right back 🙂.

I didnt know tokyo dining was replaced! Those mocktails look delicious, love fancy non alcoholic drinks! Ive been skeptical about sushi in Epcot since im so picky about sushi rice. I tried spam musubi and takoyaki at food & wine last year and was so disappointed that I cancelled our tokyo dining reservations and watched the fireworks instead!

Oh my goodness- Jay did not like that dish either last year at Food & Wine! I can't speak for the sushi, but I know Jay thought very highly of it. Festival booths don't have as high quality and the food at Shiki is super authentic :) Plus you can watch fireworks from the restaurant!!!
