I love Skinwalker and Wendigo, seeing more games with them lately is good to see.

Agreed, but I do wish, to a certain degree, we eventually get something a bit more than just a "run around aimlessly and wait for the AI to attack you" type hunting game. It'd be nice if either we got a real hunting game, where you more proactively hunt the creature, or maybe these kinds of games could tap into the psychological Lovecraftian-esque madness stuff.

@@WarriorDan oh absolutely, something that actually uses the native American mythology would be amazing, most of these games are the videogame equivalent of the Halloween Resurrection. Is it Michael Myers? Technically yeah, but there's no reason for this to exist.

Agreed, and who knows, this is Early Access, so it may get more detailed and sophisticated over time, but if I was the one making a horror/hunting game with the Wendigo/Skinwalker, you can bet I'd make the hunting a lot more hands-on, to the point where it'd make Hunt: Showdown feel simplistic ;)

My only really big criticism i have of the games visuals is the size of the reload animations sometimes it seems too big and a little overwhelming

A pretty fair criticism to make. To be fair, it does appear to be one solo indie dev, not a team of several, and it is an early access game, so there is still time for that all to be fixed, but we'll have to wait and see. Lots of early access games don't really improve over time, but this dev has a decent niche track record, so there's some hope yet.

I think it would have been really interesting to have the game lean more to one direction or the other. Either go all out on you hunting it down (like you mentioned), or make it something like Alien Isolation where it's hunting you, and you have meager supplies to keep yourself safe. It seems like it falls somewhere in the middle, which is fine, and might make it less of a grind than going fully in either direction could be, but it could have been something really cool.

Agreed, hunt or hunted, I think it would've been a more interesting game if it did more of one or the other. It's not a bad game, but I do feel it suffers from a lack of focus either way.

@@WarriorDan As someone who was more of a fan of Witch Hunt than yourself, I think it would have been really interesting to do something similar in structure to that, as that allowed for a good mixture between hunting (albeit simplified, somewhat luck-based hunting) and being hunted due to the different enemies. As neat as I think this game is, it would benefit from taking more inspiration from Witch Hunt or even Folklore Hunter (I like the emphasis on psychological stress and horror that it dips its toes into) moving forward. Now, I don't know much about video games, but I figure it's difficult to make any game, even with a team, so even with those opinions of mine, I still think it's impressive that one person was able to make a game like this that's rather polished and good looking for Early Access.

I think anytime one person can make a decent game, it's impressive. But in this industry, one person can often do just as much if not more than an entire team. Most of the most famous PC games of all time were created by one person. So I don't give any dev a free pass just for making it all themselves, but I recognize how difficult that path can often be. You raise a number of good points, and just FYI I actually really enjoy Folklore Hunter. (Also, I stay in personal contact with the dev of that game. He's a good guy.) Folklore Hunter likewise has a few issues here and there, but I definitely enjoy it a bit more than Skinwalker Hunt here, probably because it has a balance between hunting/hunted.

@@WarriorDan Folklore Hunter was the first game that I watched develop from early access (through youtube videos cause I'm pretty new to the whole game world), so it's got a special place in my heart (plus, I think it does the hunting horror genre pretty close to perfectly with its balance between hunting and being hunted). I also really like the Bloodfang map and the variation between the monsters. I didn't realize how many games were done by one developer though. That's really interesting.

No worries, and just to name a few examples of games made by one dev: Minecraft, Papers Please, Stardew Valley, Undertale, Bright Memory, Cuphead, Overcooked 1 & 2, Firewatch, The Binding of Isaac, FNAF, Slender: The Eight Pages, Don't Starve, Hades, etc. All regarded as some of the most famous indie games of all time.

Gamers who need constant action- :( Hunters who also game- :D If you like the pause and stealth and waiting of actual hunting, these games may scratch an itch.

There's a balance to be had between the two approaches. I'd prefer a game that actually allowed you to hunt, giving you mechanics that enabled you to do just that. But games like this, or like Bigfoot, tend to instead go with the "place cameras/objects, then sit and wait" approach only. Personally, I'd prefer a hunt game more similar to Hunt: Showdown, but without the BS battle royale mode, where you're a more proactive hunter.

@CuriousHippo Lol, if you can run Titanfall 2 and Apex, odds are you'll run this, no problem! ;) (A pity that Titanfall 2 is still unplayable. I rather enjoyed the online co-op!)

@@WarriorDan i dont play either of those on pc! Im a console player for the most part, i usually play 2d games on my pc like terreria or don't starve and im looking into hollowknight!
