I lived in South Africa a few years ago. How I loved this beautiful country. I still miss my time there very much. It's a great shame how it is being ruined by the political class in power. They are a bit like the Palestinians. Once they get handed over political power, a small political elite exploits and ruins the country. Israel withdrew its settlers from Gaza at the beginning of the 2000s and handed over power to the Palestinians. The political leadership of Gaza then benefitted from huge international support. What did they do with it? Invested most money in war with Israel. With all that support, Gaza could have become a Singapore of the Mediterranean or Arabia. The rest is history. South Africa is a similar case: the post-Apartheid new political regime had the support of basically the entire world. However, in the 30 post-Apartheid years the country's political leadership drove a once functioning country in the ground close to the collapse. In both cases, misery is 100% home made. I guess this is why South Africa feels so close to Palestians because they are also total failures...
