While I don’t doubt that there are circumstances where you would be held responsible and accountable for a lack of sterilization or a tool that malfunctioned because of a loose part, which you should have checked , in the particular example that you used, with a laparoscopic instrument- it malfunctioning and electrocuting someone, it wouldn’t be your fault because you didn’t test the instrument and also shock yourself prior to the surgery-it would be the fault of the manufacturer. You would be negligent for not testing the instrument-however again you would’ve been shocked as well- and been able to sue the manufacturer in addition to the hospital- Because no one agrees to being at hurt at work, additionally a sterile processing technician’s life is worth just as much as a doctors; but I understand the point that you were trying to make in terms of how serious you should take the job.
👋🏽 Hello love your videos! I have an orientation with a school on Tuesday, please tell me what questions I need to ask. Thank you for all your videos!!!
Hi thanks for this information! I am interested in this field and currently doing research only. I am iffy about working in a hospital because I know sometimes they pester you to work overtime, weekends and holidays. I am coming from a different background. Also my biggest issue is standing for too long. It seems like this job requires you to be on your feet a lot. I would prefer not to go home cranky and in pain every day to my toddler. Any insight would help please. 🙏🏾
This sounds like an interesting field to go into. My only question is, do you think automation will eventually take over this job? That's what I'm afraid of; I don't want to spend time/money in school/training and then have my job taken away by robots.
There is no way a machine can replace a human in this area... the responsibility is way too great to not have human eyes checking and there's no machine that can operate the way a human would during processes... there are lives at stake, it would be a huge risk as machines/robots have errors too
I noticed you have beautiful lashes, are we allowed to have lash extensions or do they have any restrictions on that part... I'm already aware of nails and jewelry. Also I have my nose pierced on the side very small, I worked at a hospital that didn't mind but wondering if they make us remove it for work? I am already certified but have no experience yet, will be applying in about 2 months, I appreciate your videos girl thank you
Thanks for the informative videos! I wanted to go to school for this, but I work 9-5 and was wondering if the externships part would be possible when I have to keep working during the day. :(
And if one was to start w/o being certified& then eventually go forth in sitting for the exam & get certified, would the jobs pay a certified sterile tech more than a non certifed sterile tech
Watching this just after I received a job offer as a CS Tech! Great video. Are there any resources out there you'd recommend checking out as someone with minimal knowledge/no field experience before I get started? Thanks :)
I’m currently in a program. Any tips on learning the clamps. They all look the same ! Also I live in the south, as a newbie when asked about starting salary what would be your recommendation when interviewing?
Do they let you wear your nails short & polished? I seen a quest where a girl asked on a video but i dnt think anyone answered. i know every job is difrt& it looks on here that you have your nails done , thats why i thought to ask
