Vlog#17 ! After our amazing stay on Magnetic island we rented a car and continued down towards Brisbane with our main goal being to cathc the train to Sydney in Brisbane.
Along the way we explored the Capricorn cave systems and enjoyed the beautiful nature all around us.
After arriving at the Sunshine coast we explored the area a bit to see what there is to do and what's it like. The most famous would be Noosa heads, which is considerd the rich people's play ground. Is it worth the hype?
Personally I think that Australia has millions of beautiful beach places and that this one isn't particullary better than others. But what do you think?
What do you think of our father and son travels thus far? How is my dad holding up you think? I recommend everybody to spend time with their parents before it's to late.
Follow my adventure with my father and together we will all become a little less clueless travellers!

People who emigrate to Australia will tell you there is a huge emphasis on a good work/life balance here. You are on holiday. The people who serve you also deserve time with their families as well AND to get out and enjoy our own country. That's the exact reason people move here. People work hard here while they at work. So glad you took the time to walk around in nature. And yes sometimes we do take it for granted. Or think it's normal. I have a blue tongued lizard in my yard. And I live about 2 klms from a massive bat colony. Every evening thousands of them take off into the sky. I was talking to a friend in the UK at dawn one morning and had to go inside so she could hear me over the birdsong. I've been binging your travels since I stumbled across it. Loving it.

Yes I definitely understand, it's a pattern to get used to but generally I get the idea of it. Well my grandparents went there just for possibilities to be fair, but that's longer ago. Yes that's the point of showing the maybe "normal" Australian things because for me it's all special and interesting, also because I listened to stories about Australia my whole life and now I finally see it together with my dad. I couldn't be happier ! Thanks for sharing, I appreciate that you enjoy it :)

Shops close at around 5 pm in many parts of Australia as the staff also have a life and spend time with their families - so its work life balance - we are used to it, but you have enough time to buy what you want before 5 or 6pm. But supermarkets and restaurant, food outlets tend to stay open to 10pm or midnight- its ridiculous you have to go shopping for non food items in he evening when you should be at home with family or enjoy time with your friends

The sharp’s containers are not only for elicit drugs use. It also caters to people with diabetes etc. Drugs as an issue is no worse than any other country, but it’s an acknowledgment that some people will do drugs and it’s better to have needles/sharps in a secure container than in a bin or on the floor where others (customers and cleaners) might get a needle injury. Australia does have an emphasis on public safety and this is part of it.

That's very interesting, it's definitely very important to protect people from accidentily getting pierced by something contaminated. I have never seen that anywhere else as far as I remember so that's why it stuck out to me

@@thecluelesstraveller just a public safety measure. Australia has some thought out and effective measures to healthcare. For example; when you turn 50, you get a sample kit to send back a stool sample. Icky, I know but it is in recognition that bowel cancer starts to become a big problem around that age. Saved a close friend’s life. He got it early and is fully recovered. He would never have even thought of it because he felt fine and by the time he felt symptoms, it would’ve meant major bowel removal and ongoing care and discomfort for the rest of his life - if he survived. The sharps containers are a part of those kinds of public initiatives. It’s best to keep the broader public safe and then try and address the underlying drug problem (which, like many countries, we aren’t particularly good at, TBH).

Try the West Coast. More pristine environment and less gaudy high rise developments. Less tropical rain as well. Enjoy you journey.

They don't push themselves too hard, workwise, it seems. Closed Sundays, shut at 5 pm weekdays. Plus, they have an extremely high minimum wage compared to North America. Makes me wonder how ahy Australian business makes a profit.

Lifi is not complicated mate.If you are required to start work at 8.00 a.m.,you get there on time.If you need to purchase goods from a business, you do it before 5.00p.m.

Well I think they work very hard in Australia, especially hard labour jobs in the burning heat etc. But they have a very different work culture than we have. It's not by definition wrong, but just not what we are used to.

I understand this, but most people work until 17:00 or 18:00 right? I think mostly our surprise is about the service industry closing very early. We are more used to the opposite

Don't worry, bosses find a way to screw their workers in order to make a profit.
