The potatoes is a premade potato gratin. You need to put in an oven safe container and cook in the oven for 15-20 minutes until it gets golden brown'ish.

You need Lingon berry (Lingonsylt) to Ölandskroppkakor, meatballs and Falukorv.

Lingonberries with your Falukorv..? 😬 Oh dear... Which part of our country are you from. I grew up in Mora and Falun (and guess where the falukorv originally comes from? 😊), and if you ask me, lingonberries with the falukorv would be sacrilege 😱 Fried (sliced) falukorv should be served with macaroni, ketchup, mustard and pickled cucumber (I prefer saltgurka, salty pickled cucumber), or maybe Bostongurka (pre-made finely diced pickled cucumber, with pieces of pickled, red bell pepper - God knows why we call it Bostongurka = Boston cucumber). That's it, maybe some green salad and tomatoes, but no lingonberries, please! 😅
@t-man78

Oh, I forgot - it's also just as nice (or even better) to serve the fried falukorv with Heinz baked beans, boiled potatoes, mustard, sliced tomatoes and (fresh) cucumber 😊

Your pronunciation is very very good, managing "ölandskroppkakor", finding the three words ölands, kropp and kakor very nicely!! :D I would maybe turn down the volume on effects a little and the black flickering when it cuts might be mistakes, other than that, very nice! :)

The green stuff on the Princess cake is marsipan. We have almond paste, a more ruff version of marsipan and then marsipan which is smoother with a finer grinding of the almonds and more sugar in it. Vanilla custard and jam as a filling and whipped cream beneath the marsipan, a Swedish classic "tårta". Tårta is when a cake has layers with filling, decorated with marsipan, jelly and/or cream and decorations and what we mostly eat for birthdays and major weekends like a midsumer party (canilla cake with custard, strawberry jam, decorated with whipped cream and strawberries), Easter weekend and maybe New Years Eve. For X-mas we usually eat more traditional desserts like struvor - a sort of funnel cake, ginger bread and fruit cake. Also a lot of homemade candy like toffee, fudge, chocolates and marsipan-candy.

About lingonberries, go for Felix "rårörda lingon", which is not just a mushy jam, it actually has whole lingonberries in it, or better yet - buy one frozen package (250 gram) of lingonberries (can be found in basically any store, not very expensive at all, 20 SEK or so). Put the frozen berries in a glass jar, add about 1,5-2 dl of sugar. Stir, and let it sit in the fridge 24-48 hrs, until the sugar has dissolved. Enjoy! 😊

Räksallad ( = shrimp "salad") is usually had as condiment for hot dogs, (believe it or not) - very popular in Sweden! 🙂 The no 1 (traditional) fast food dish here is probably tunnbrödrulle ( = flat bread roll). It's simply a flat bread wrap, filled with two hot dogs, some mashed potatoes (!) bostongurka (finely diced, pickled cucumber - God knows what Boston has to do with it...), some lettuce, ketchup, mustard and the icing on the cake - räksallad! 😁

You're supposed to fry the sausage.. You don't have to.. But most Swedes fry it in some butter.. Served with baked sweet and sour brown beans..Mustard.. And potato cakes.. Or cut into bits.. Fried.. And made into a stroganoff.. To serve with mashed potatoes, pasta or rice.

Okay! I’m definitely learning some new things here! The baked sweet and sour beans sound interesting. I think I’ll have to try it like this in the next video! There seems so much you can do with it! And stroganoff is a pretty typical Swedish dish too? :)
@swedishmetalbear
@swedishmetalbear 23 дня назад
@@CodeySimon My go to stroganoff. 1 half link falukorv (just like you had.. is a half link.. there is also a whole link which feeds an entire family) But with a half link do as follows.. 1 large yellow onion diced. 2 tablespoons tomato puré. 1 cup creme fraiche (it comes in a 3 dl cup which you use the entire cup)a 1 stock cube 1dl water. 1 tbsp mustard white pepper cayenne pepper salt Worcestershiresauce Prep. Dice onion and cut sausage into staves. Fry off the onion. On medium high heat until translucent.. Then add your sausage.. Fry until the sausage starts getting some colour.. Then add condiments. First tomato paste.. Let it fry a couple minutes on its own.. It makes a better flavour. add mustard. Stock cube and water. Once the stock cube is completely dissolved. Add a dash of worcestershiresauce.. and your creme fraiche. A dash of cayenne.. And salt and pepper to taste. (white pepper is better tasting and more authentic in stroganoff than black pepper). Serve preferably with rice... Pasta in second hand. Some people like it with boiled potatoes or mash..
@swedishmetalbear
@swedishmetalbear 23 дня назад
For the baked brown beans. They come in the cold ready made food asection in a plastic sausage. And it says "Bruna Bönor" on it.. They are already pressure cooked and just need heated up.. I add a tablespoon of mustard, salt, white pepper, a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar or white wine vinegar to it.. And drizzle some molasses over it. Molasses can usually be found in the sugar and flour section of the store and it says "Ljus Sirap" or "Mörk Sirap" on it. Mix well. salt and pepper and vinegar syrup to taste *until the sweet and sour is balanced to your liking. The potato cakes are in the freezer section among the fries usually. They are called "Rösti" and look like little triangles. You just put them on a paper lined baking sheet in the oven until crispy.. And fry the sausage in thin circles. I usually cut the sausage in three different places along the outer circumference so it fries more evenly or the sausage tends to puff up on one side..

@larka742 26 дней назад
Slice the "falukorv" but not all the way through, many cuts - a cm between each. Its still hanging together Put ketchup och mustard in each slice and cheese on top of it all. Put it all in the owen until the cheese is coloured and serve with mashed potatoes.

@@CodeySimon There are a few versions of the dish that @larka742 mentions, its just that the toppings differ. One version uses thinly sliced tomatoes, onions and cheese. you stack the ingredients like a skewer and then bake in the oven (220c, i think) until the onions is soft and the cheese is starting to melt and become golden brown.
@larka742
@larka742 25 дней назад
@@Jormvngandr And you can put about everything around the sausage as well, red onions works great, vegetables. Easy food...boiling the potatoes cant go wrong, boiling too long cant happen as you are into mashing them after. And the sausage is almost the same, it doesnt really need to be cooked and having it longer in the oven is quite good too (as long the toppings dont get burned) - so its flexible

@@larka742 Fellow Swede here, so I'm well aware how versatile Falukorv are 😉 As long as he makes the mash with room warm butter, milk (the one with high fat content) salt, freshly grounded black pepper and just a tiny amount of nutmeg, he basically can't go wrong

Yes, there are many variations of oven fried falukorv, but I would say that there always have to be sliced yellow onion, mustard (I prefer a 50/50 mix of "skånsk senap" and dijon), and cheeze, then you can add tomatoes, ketchup, sliced apples etc etc, but these three key ingredients should always be there 😊
