Hi Amruta, once again you shared valuable tips and tools. Thanks a lot! I enjoyed working on the worksheet! It helped me to clarify some points but at the end I didn’t change my mind. I am really set to pursue a career in technical writing. It is perfect simply because it puts together my 2 biggest passions: coding & writing. ❤️
Hello mam, I am searching for a job in technical writing.I am a graduated Engineer and I am a tech-savvy and also a passionate writer.I never say that I am an expert writer but I strongly admire my writing skills. I am currently looking for a freelance writing job and I wish to become a professional writer in future. My questions for you 1.Is this a good career option? 2.Should I freelance or stick with any agency? 3.What skills should I develop as a novice writer with zero experience? 4.Could this be a promising career in future? I hope you would give some suggestions, thank you...
Hi..It's very difficult for me to give personalized advice, which is why I created the worksheet to help folks think through their situations. I recommend working through the worksheet to self-evaluate your situation. I don't have a lot of insight into life as a freelancer, so I don't feel comfortable giving advice knowing it might not be the right for you. If I were in your position, I'd experiment -- try out a couple freelancing jobs, try getting a job with an agency, build my portfolio, and evaluate how I feel about each of those experiences. Also, based on your comment, I'd say your writing skills are good but not as strong as you seem to think. I'd recommend looking into ways to upskill your writing.
Hi Amruta! I've gone through quite a few of your videos and your awesome content has helped a ton, as I am contemplating a tech writing career. However, I tried clicking the link to the worksheet and created a notion account, but it said, "You do not have access to Tech Writing. Please contact an admin to add you as a member." Is that something you could assist with or have I done something wrong?
Hi! Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I had moved the page to another workspace and didn't even realize it made it inaccessible. Can you try accessing it again and let me know if it works now?
I don't know of any that are good enough to recommend. I also don't think if you need a course to get started. I recommend creating a writing sample to see if you like the process. Write a guide for GitHub or another software you use.
I love your channel. I was into software testing and now on a career break for 10 years, after being a mom.. now I want to get into technical writing as I love documentation. What do I need to do? Is this possible?
