I wanted to thank you for your videos especially about sciatic pain. One of your videos about it helped me so much that I hardly feel pain anymore. It’s about keeping right posture at all times even when sitting on the couch. OMG that did it for me! I even got back support for my car seat and I use to feel pain sitting in my car all the time. Thank you so much!!!!

When I broke my clavical, I went to the hospital, then to the doctor and was sent to the physical therapist. I thought, he can't do anything to help, I can't move and not supposed to move it. Well, he was the nicest most compassionate Care giver I had been to. He loaned me a tens machine! He changed the batteries and pads right there in front of me. He Showed me how to place the pads and work the machine, and told me something that kept me using it. Not only will it help with the pain (a broken clavicle is very painful), but stimulates the bone to heal, and keeps the muscles from atrophy. So I used it and it was great! Thank you for your videos. I can tell you are kind and compassionate care givers

Have had back and neck problems for 35 years. I started using TENS units when you could only get them with a doctors prescription and the cost was around $800. It's been a life saver for me.

@@sleutelpunt3940 I've been using it off and on for at least 25 years. I use it when the pain gets bad. There are plenty of places on net and youtube to get info on placement of tens pads. They are so cheap now compared years ago. It's a matter of getting used to finding the spots where they work the best for your particular pain. You have to do some experimentation. Good luck and hope you do better.

When I had rotator cuff surgery I was on Perkocet and Morphine and still crying with pain. My surgeon ordered a tenns unit for me. It was delivered and applied. WOW!!! What relief! I had to have surgery on the other rotator cuff 6 months later and I started using the tenns unit as soon as possible. I have used it for severe back pain that prescription pain medicine wouldn't relieve. I have also used it on my tennis elbow. I weigh a little over 300 lbs so that debunks what they say about it not working on over weight people.

I appreciate the information. I wanted to clarify your comments regarding edema and adipose. I have both lymphedema and lipodema in my legs. Primarily my right leg & thigh. I also have osteoarthritis in both knees and right ankle. I have been using my TENS unit off and on for about six months. It seems to give relief for the arthritis but not the pain from the edema. Is that what you were referring to when you said it may not be beneficial for people with edema & adipose? Will it cause more problems for the edema? Thank you :)

I used it during pregnancy for pain releif it was pt on back. I had to have it really high just to have any effect. But it says its not good for kidneys. It worked more like a distraction during labour. I got one now but i dont feel it. Its not strong enough. Id like it so that tingling feeling happens but not pulse it makes me relax. I really like that its safer than opiods. I really dont like idea of it on my temples. I didnt think of the sinuses on neck thankyou for that one.

I do not know how to place TENS Unit pads for neck pain. I usually place a small 2x2 pad on each side of my spine next to my hairline. My problem is that it makes my neck muscles sore. I usually have to set it at 4 or more. My question if ANYONE knows, regarding the sore muscles. Am I placing them wrong, or using too much frequency?

I do have one of those nerve stimulator implants - mine has leads that are attached to the vagus nerve and regulates things to keep my brain from going into what was called A Broken Record player and causing a seizure - it has made a huge difference in my life because I don't have the wild fluctuations in pulse rate and blood pressure that I once did. A little while ago I looked at one of those lower-end TENS units that are sold in drug stores for lower back pain, I had one of those contraindications, and I was like, well pooh on that! I wasn't too thrilled about spending my money on it anyway, so it went back onto the shelf.

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! FYI: TENS MACHINES save me when I have medium level pain: like 1-5 out of 10 (on the 1-10) pain scale. I find that it REALLY HELPS with water retention & swelling at injury sites, because: when an area hurts we tend to NOT MOVE it. That means we don't flex the muscles at that site. THAT causes water retention. The TENS activates the muscles in the injured area and the excess water is "flexed out", thus reducing swelling. It works miracles for me with that application. Just sayin'... Keep up your fabulously positive interactions with us, your audience. Your smiles, etc., make me feel so good. I actually get goose bumps on my neck & shoulders when I watch you two!!! Endorphins always feel WONDERFUL!!! Thanks for the good vibes, guys! ☮️

I have the cephaly, tens tiara for the brain... does it help? meh... not really. I have some that clip on to my ear lobes... does it help? meh... not really. I use my TENS unit on my back, I use it a LOT and up pretty high. I don't know how good/bad that is for me. VA took away pain meds and handed me a TENS unit. yay!

Does anyone know if you can fly with a tens unit???
@paulaw418
@paulaw418 4 года назад
Great question. Security may stop you & confiscate it if they don't know what it is. Talk to your doctor & see about getting a dr's note from him/her or a "prescription" written up stating the instructions & necessity of the TENS unit as a medical device. Then call the airline and speak with them first. Even after all that, get to the airport EARLY in case you are delayed because of the device. It's a hassle but for good reason. I mean it's an electronic device with wires coming in and out of it.

@Bob & Brad, what would be some placements for sciatica. Could it be on a hernatied disc?
@paulaw418
@paulaw418 4 года назад
I'm not a doctor, but I am familiar with TENS. NEVER directly on the spine! One pad on each side of the spine on either side of the disc. If using 4 pads (2 channels) place the first pair of pads one on each side of the spine above the damaged disk. The 2nd pair goes one on each side of the spine just below the damaged disk.

@@paulaw418 why not on the spine? I have just started using one for severe back pain
@marillion1
@marillion1 3 года назад
I work for Tenscare and the advice below is not entirely correct - there should be no issue putting the electrode on your spine - in fact electrode placement is very much experimental. Tens units have been around for years and the number of safety problems are minute.Always start with a low current and intensity - the current doesn't penetrate the fat layer - if any doubt seek a doctor's advice.

So, I'm really confused, is it or is it not ok to put it on facial and neck muscles? Because I'm seeing people do that anyway and be just fine. Has anyone died recently from using this device? Has anyone had a seizure or stroke using this thing? What exactly would happen if you use this device for your facial muscles? I have chronic neck and TMJ pain, I want to make sure I'm not going to kill myself doing this.

I tried TENS and it didn't do anything for my pain but it did lighten my wallet. What does help is taking 100 mg of DHEA, eating low carb, daily walking, restful sleep, keeping stress down and stretching. Those helped me far more than this over-priced contraption.

Joanne Bohan they have special TENS units for labour in the U.K.. They are different than the ones for pain. The NHS maternity units use them for the initial stages of labour. Some hospitals provide them, otherwise you can hire them as well. This is not a common thing found in the US.
