I have found that using the ACASIS hub with the M2 Mac mimi with it 2 40 GB port has a lot going for it. For one, you can put a 2 TB SSB in it, it has a it’s own power so you do not need to take one of your ports on the M2 Mac mini. The ACASIS has many other ports. I have used this setup for fast copying. It also is cost effective.
Ok so lets had the CST, color grade, adjustments, some audio and a LUT... THAT'S where things start to crinkle on my system at least(older winblows machaine) but just seeing how it holds up for mac because I'm going back to mac this weekend
Thanks for doing this 😁. I use both pc and mac for my editing work station, I was thinking of buying an M2 mac mini but after watching this video I opted for a pc upgrade instead. Great work bro 😁
Bad idea. The PC is the worst platform to edit videos. Get the pro then you won't have any problem. The M1-M2s Don't produce much heat therefore a lot more efficient than a PC. If you edit 1080p no problem, but for professional quality, forget it!
Make a video of how the m2/m2 pro Mac mini perform on davinci resolve plz🙏 I want to know if the gpu on the Mac mini can handle a gpu intensive program like davinci
Hi, How about the hard drives where footage are? This test was donde with the super speed nvme hard drive ? What about editing with USB 3 mechanics drives or standard SSD Drives ? What would be your setup if you need 8TB of free space for footage for example_? Salute from Argentina.
@@theTechNoticehi, did you post it already? Also can you tell what timeline resolution you use during tests? Is it HD or 4K? Or you use original resolution of file tested?
do real edit test . not just one layer of video and layer of color correction . at least 2 layers of 4k , and one of them slowed down to 50% , and 3d layer with color. Nobody edit just with one layer
Was just thinking exact same thing. Want to get this but don't want to wast my time and $ if as soon as I add a 2nd and 3rd layer (which even basic video editing has) it sucks. Rather just get the pro or another option for basic editing
im trying to decide between a mac mini base m2+ 16gb for video editing only, using externals ssd or purchasing a mac mini m2 pro, What are your thoughts>? worth the extra 500.? or use that money toward something else ?
So, I'm guessing the base model is all I would ever need if I don't do video editing? I'll be running Excel in Parallels. Some of my spreadsheets are large Monte Carlo simulations. Maybe get another 8Gb memory...
Not sure seems like he did not even what I would consider moderate video editing. Literally point 1 or 2 layers w color grade. Not sure who edits with only 1 layer even if doing basic editing. I am looking at this as well but thinking the pro might be essential
Hi I have a question related to my previous question (I digged through blackmagic forum) is the video decoding using the iGPU only available in the davinci resolve studio version and not the free one? I can't seem to find the option to turn on iGPU decoding in my preferences settings ;-; thanks so much for the content so far btw I love it
This PC is also best for 650 dollars. I5 12400 Adata XPG Spectrix D60G 16GB (8GBX2) DDR4 3200MHz Arc 750 GPU Samsung 980 500gb ssd Basic Asus h610 or b660 mobo DEEPCOOL PK450D 450 WAtt psu. Basic 30 to 35 dollars Cabinet with 3 intake and 1 exhaust fan.
@@jdc2126 don't waste your money on a mac. Media engines, GPU and GPU accelerated tasks are more important now. M2 has good media engines but no bad when compared to Intel and Nvidia. Apple silicon has nothing in terms of GPU. Now even Intel arc GPUs are out and getting better after every driver update. Arc GPU are excellent for the price.
@@jdc2126 watch tech notice videos, jarrods tech, hardware unboxed, ben g kaiser. Amd is nothing in content creation compared to Intel. Yes Amd is giving huge competition and many times beating Intel in gaming. But very slow in content creation compared to Intel. Don't compare apple chips to PCs. Apple has nothing in terms of GPU. After latest blender 3.5 update. M1 ultra 2022 is still 7 to 8 times slower compared to RTX 4090 which was also launched in September 2022. Intel meteorlake on Intel 4 node is coming later this year. Next year in 2024 Intel arrow lake and lunar lake on Intel 20A and 18A node is also coming and already got support in aida64 and hwinfo. Next year RTX 50 series is coming with huge performance uplift.
Bro gaming is just cherry on top/bonus in Windows. Windows is best for all content creation and productivity work. which PC do you have. Tell me specs? Yes macs are good for video editing but bad for heavy video editing. PCs are way faster in all work.
This is interesting. But nobody ever does a timeline of like 20-30minutes or even 10-15 minutes!. Because a 2min timeline just isn’t representative like who makes two minute long videos!. Please can you do a 4K 10bit 4.2.2 timeline of 15minutes with colour grade!. Ah I’ve just thought your using premier pro which known to be complete trash!. Would it be possible to do a davinci resolve or Final Cut Pro timeline!?. If not don’t worry I know these cost money if you don’t own them already.
Do not buy a Mac by seeing a 10 second 4k clip played by an amateur one hundred times. That does not mean anything. You will need more layers. You will need more effects etc. You can't be sure if it is playing a 40 minutes rough cut properly without trying. There are real editors on RU-vid showing this machine on a real editing process.
I stayed away from Apple for 30 years, so I get it. However the landscape has drastically changed and MACs are actually a better bang for the buck. Microsoft is in no way shape or form more consumer friendly than Apple anymore. Linux...ehhhh....the software may be free but you're still using a PC and the extra time you spend getting it just to "work" is the payment you make for using it. I need something that works when you press the power button.
