The Mach 1 to Mustangs is like the 392 of the Mopar world. Overshadowed by the Terminator Cobra, like the 392 is by the Hellcat. A decently strong platform to start with, but can't handle much boost at all, just like a 392. Awesome cars still.
The Mach 1 is the only SN/New Edge I’d consider besides a Termi. I love how they sound and the cool retro inspired look. White, Comp Orange, or Azure Blue are 3 colors I’d heavily consider.
9 years ago, I got an 03-04 Mach 1 to park beside my 69 CJ Mach 1 and bought a beautiful red 04 with 52k miles on it and immediately had to buy another one to play with and bought a black 04. They have all been tucked away in the shop for the last decade. When I bought them, my son was 6 years old and fell in love with them. He turned 15 a few months ago and has been touring the neighborhood in his black 04 learning how to shift gears in his first car. I have a Hellcat Super Stock and he wants no part of driving it, he loves his shaker hood. lol
If I could get an Azure Blue Mach 1 and an Emerald Green and Titanium GT hatchback I would never let either one go. Two of my favorite later model mustangs.
The Mach 1 was the driving force behind my finally getting my first new car. It was an '02 GT I immediately proceeded to cut a hole in the hood and put a CDC shaker kit on. I love the Mach 1s to this day. I'd love to find a brightly colored one like red or Azure Blue and just cruise it. I'm not in favor of terminator nose-swapping every possible new edge like people seem to do though. I think the original nose is much cleaner.
Man you almost forget 03-04 Mach 1, the forgotten one, the Cobra's got all the attention and sought after. But add some gearing to wake these up, they become a little more of a NA beast. Nice coverage on this car.
Ppl are finally realizing these are a hidden gem. I got mine about 8 yrs ago from the OG owner. Done a lot of work to the motor and suspension but you wouldn’t rly know by looking at it These will be jumping in value big time soon
I own a 2003 mach 1 in the same color. They are very overlooked because of the cobra, most people don’t even know there was a new edge Mach 1. They are pretty quick for an N/A 4.6, mine dynod 304whp and 328tq and ran a 13.3 at 106 with a 2.2 60’ on street tires with just an off-road x pipe, borla ataks and an intake.
I had a blue ‘03 5spd. Great car. Could hang with LS1 cars. They are under geared (3.55) though. They needed 4.10-4.30. My blue ‘18 5.0 10r80 trapped 1 sec/10mph more stock in 1/4. These would be awesome with a coyote swap. Huge weight savings.
I picked up a 2003 mach 1 roller a couple months ago for 2500$. i found a fresh built 97 teksid engine from ford and swapped the heads for a set of 04 terminator heads and installed a set of 01 cobra intake cams and longtube headers. i finally got the engine installed last week. I cant wait to get it running and driving! I need to add it to my channel.
I love my 04 Mach1! Other then a few easily removable mods mine is stock, and it will stay that way. That being said I still drive it and enjoy it. I call it Shaker therapy 😁
It’s the automatic fun/ worth it ? I have a 2014 gt convertible and I’m looking for an Mach 1 2003 somebody wants 10k for 138,000 miles with a fresh transmission. What do you think?
I want a Mach 1 so bad definitely going to get one as soon as I’m able to. A car I have loved for a long time and one you never hardly see in my area. Just something special about seeing one and I love New Edge Mustangs one of the best looking imo I don’t want all these fancy new ones with all the gizmos and gadgets I just want the raw feel of being in a mustang that is modern but yet still old school in some aspects it’s the sweet spot. I have an 01 Bullitt rn and love the car and the dream is to have it, a Mach 1 and if I’m lucky an 03-04 Cobra.
My 04 Azure Blue was totaled back in October of 2021, still devastated I want that car back more than anything. Pro tip, be warry of an F150 blowing a stop sign
Don't forget the Mach One had different sailing panels and rear quarter glass than the other New Edges plus the 1960s inspired gauge cluster was a nice touch on those and the Bullitt...
I have a 2003 azure blue mach 1 I've owned for 11 years and I love it. It has head work and 96-98 cobra intake cams, bbk x pipe, flowmaster cat back, 4.10 gears, and tuned by diablo etc. It pulls hard up to 7k rpm. They were overshadowed by the terminator but the shaker makes you feel like a badass with 300 hp 😎 haha
That's an 04 Mach1............. Side badges and no net between the sub visors. Intake manifold was similar to the Cobra, but it’s not the same. The MGW was the best shifter for that tranny by far. It's probably not adjusted properly with the stops, My Mach1 loved eating Catfish and Fireturds and even quite a few GTOhhhs. Best N/A 1/4 was 11.6 with stock longblock and tranny.
They’re RATED at 305 hp. Just like the terminator Cobras of the same years they were underrated on purpose by Ford. Right off the showroom floor they dynoed at 282.3 hp. After you do the math that’s 332 hp at the crank.
My favorite new edge model. Im getting old though. Found a a mint 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis today, Gorgeous price is high though. Mulling it over.... 7k but 70k miles all maintenance done and looks like it's brand new. I'll prolly buy it.... 😔 😁
I felt like it had zero low end torque compared to my Coyote. It was only happy up top. Had a Steeda shifter in my 03, no lift shifts with no issue until 3 gear started to complain.
I have a Torch Red 03. Bought it new, has 4500 miles….bone stock, but really getting the itch to make some changes. Not crazy stuff, but maybe exhaust, gears etc. I love it like it is….but 😁
I adore mine. 03 zy got it with 128k on it. Put a k&n cai, and MBRP cat back exhaust. Perfect driving feeling sound and power. Need a custom tune soon and get my dyno numbers but I love her.
Thoughts on the 97 Cobra Vert? I heard there were very few White top, white paint and saddle leather interior. Mine has 104,000 original miles, I got it with35,000 from a friend. 99.9% bone stock.
Thanks for the video. I just got my first fun car a 03 Mustang Mach 1 manual. It has been a lot of fun driving it. Two things that I saw in the video is it has 40th Anniversary tag which should make it a 04. The second thing I think the motor mounts may need a replacement soon as much as it shakes. Still fun video and I will take good care of mine.
Hell like my 07 gt 3v yea it is a 4.6 but I’ve got a little over 400 hp to the crank it is around 350 to the wheels. There really a great engine for street use
Traded my 2003 race red Mach for my first Coyote. The Mach is underrated. Ran 13.4 and it was stock except cold air and Magnaflows. Loved the shaker at first, but you get used to it and don’t notice it while driving pretty quickly. Great car, but like my 2014 GT more.
You don’t think the 2003 is worth it compared to the 2014 gt? I also own a 2014 I’m looking to buy a 2003 Mach 1 with 138k miles He wants $10k I say 6800-7 what do you think?
Mach heads and intake are similar to 99-01 Cobra, but the 99-01 Cobra heads have a bigger combustion chamber and smaller ports. Intake same, smaller ports and does not flow as much.
I'm really conflicted about these cars. With 305hp that's enough to have fun, but it's a very expensive engine to upgrade. They sound great. I never minded the look, but it's always been divisive. Maybe a less expensive GT with a Coyote swap...
Man I miss mine 04 comp orange first pass at the track 67k miles was 13.5 @104.5 . Lost her at 69 k when some guy decided on a green light that he had to yield on to just make a left Into oncoming traffic.
I would give a kidney or a piece of my liver for a 69 or 70 mach 1 with a 428 scj 4 speed because not only are they the most beautiful car ever made they can run great with the right mods
Sorry to bash this guy but he said it was an 03 Mach he didnt even see the side badges on the fenders, 1st gear pull, and clutch dumped it 😭 a 21 year old car dude forgot what year we are in 😂 dudes living in 2025 already but still nice video
Have an 04, not collectible unless museum, slow and lethargic down low even with bolt on's, a 93 tune and 4.30's Complete horror show to work on without a lift, they burn oil and have poor rod bearing lifespan. Do NOT beat one of these cars, they are not made for it.
