Is the 2019 Buick Cascada worth SAVING? 

Reminds me of gm’s marketing strategy for the ss,nobody can buy something they don’t know about.

I just bought this exact car 2 months ago. I did get the wheels painted in a satin black and it updated the entire look to make it a bit more modern.... It was so interesting to watch your review after owning it for a short time amd made me appreciate it that much more. I fell in love with this car in 2016 when i first saw it and just recently had to buy a new car when my 2005 Chrysler sebring died. I am so happy I was able to find one to buy. This car is very underrated. It's an extremely solid and smooth car, very quiet and just SUCH A FUN CAR....also soooo rare to see on the road. As a 43 year old woman I just don't care about how quick it gets to 60 (it gets me to "merge" speed just fine).....it's a gorgeous car and I am so glad I found one and watched this!

As someone who has owned more convertibles than I can count, I prefer buttons for the rudimentary functions. When the roof is down, you don't have to squint into the screen due to the sun bouncing off it. After five minutes of familiarity with all those buttons, they'll never be an issue again. On the downside however, yes....200 hp for a 4,000-lb two-door in this day and age is comical. You can time it's 0-60 with a Mayon calendar for Pete's sake.

I own a 2018 Cascada and I love it. I drove the Audis and the BMWs and this was the car for me. No, I'm not a teenager anymore, but I did own a Firebird Formula back in the day, and this car with the turbocharger gets out of it's own way just fine. I can easily hit 80 going up an expressway ramp. I'm not going to go into all the things I like or dislike, but I will comment on two things things mentioned more than once in the review. First, I agree with the small image of the backup camera in the rear-view mirror. The 2019s were out when I bought my 2018, but that was a deal breaker for me and my wife. Pretty much unusable, so we bought a 2018 instead which still has the camera image on the main screen. Second, I disagree with all the complaints about the cluster of buttons. Everyone knocks them, I love them. They are not complicated at all, they are mostly redundant to functions on the touch screen menus, and everyone seems to forget about two things: one, I don't like drilling down on a touch screen to find what I want while driving at 70/80 mph, and trying to touch the icons straight on so the touch is accepted. Two, when driving with the top down and the sun is out, especially shining from behind the car, I can't even see the touch screen. It's washed out. Thank goodness the buttons are there.

I just bought mine and it is just beautiful. It everthing you dicribe, and I got used to the button casade within a week . I already found a reason to lower the top here in Cleveland Ohio where it's been in the forty and thirty's already. Super great car.

I have this in 2018. I love my center. Its wider and i have a huge camera for seeing the back! I actually love this car. The little area in the seat is where I keep my chapstick 😂. The only thing i wish I could do is change the red interior lights at night. Otherwise this car is bomb diggity! I feel like im 20 again!

The dealer will practically give you this car...trust me...

I just bought one. I love it. It's very comfortable. Of course the acceleration isn't the greatest, it's a cruiser not a race car. I also love how it's quiet with the top up or down

If GM had any common sense they would ditch Buick and bring back Pontiac. Obviously they lack common sense because the Pontiac brand made all kinds of cars over the years not just Firebirds.

Not a bad looking car. I just can’t do a convertible. I’m more of a hardtop 5% tint kind of guy. That way no one can see me and all the bad choices I’ve made during my life.

Just bought a used 2016 for 10K. I was absolutely shocked on the looks, ride and quality. Its a keeper for sure!

I love my 2016 Buick Cascada. I back up camera on mine uses the full screen display.

It would be a lot more fun if it had the 3.6L. At 3,900 lbs it needs some more oomph. Time to say goodbye to the Cascada ( at least in the U.S.) Nice job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻

I've had BMW convertibles, Mercedes convertibles, Audi convertibles and my Cascada is a better made vehicle. Not a rocket ship I'd agree but my twin turbo Mk4 Supra does that job.My Cascada just goes along calmly and effortlessly. No shakes, no jolting, no squeaky noises, just a well made stylish car. When you've driven for a few hours you begin to understand the placement & functions of the console buttons. BTW you forgot to mention that the rear seats fold down to give cavernous storage/luggage space.

Love this car. I still own mine from 2013, Vauxhall. I live in London, UK. The buttons on the dash and the infotainment systems often get the most criticism and rightly so, but they are functional. My infotainment system actually predates the one here and I don't even have touch or bluetooth LOL! But I love to drive the car, it's a nice place to be and in the summer months it's a lovely feeling.

Great review. Just bought a used 2017 Cascada. Love the car. Had a 2014 Volt with similar technology which is a bit of a negative (my 2017 Volt had the much improved Chevy My Link system, which would have been nice). However, we consolidated from the 2017 Volt and a 2007 Solstice to the Cascada to get the best of both out of a single vehicle. I more than met my goal. While the 0 to 60 May be 8+, I find the general peep of the vehicle with the turbo and 6 speed to be fine. Very happy with the Cascada!

I own the 2019 Premium version of this car and LOVE it. My biggest pet peeve is the cup holders. You can only really use one because the other one tucks under the center console just enough to be unusable. The center console will move forward for more comfort for a shorter person, but if you do that, it covers both cup holders. Other than that, I love this car.

The interior is basically from 2009, that's why most of the infotainments feel outdated. First introduced in the Opel insignia (2008) & Opel Astra J (2019).

It's a nice looking car, but I agree with all your zonks. If they were to update and give a well deserved refresh they may actually sell a lot more of these. It's a shame they won't do it.

The dummy panel next to the usb slot is actually a 3.5mm jack connector, at least in the european version, the opel/vauxhall. Guess they thought the americans dont need it anymore

I see them around Chicagoland a lot and they’re beautiful cars. I’ve seen them accelerate from a stop too and they don’t seem too slow definitely able to keep up in traffic. Sharp looking car.

The main point that everyone needs to understand is the fact that, anything other than the Chevy Camaro and the Corvette, GM has problems with Marketing their low-end brands, such as the Buick Cascada, Buick Regal and even the Chevy Super Sport; the latter is at the top-end of the price point. For one, GM has had a bad rep because of their quality control problems in other cars, such as the Chevy Volt, Bolt, Cruze, Impalas, their SUVs and Trucks. After-mentioned vehicles have had transmission problems out the wazoo, among other things, the government bailouts, and them laying off people, has caused many to overlook the Buick brand, because of the reputation that GM has made themselves. I've got a Buick Regal GS and I'm in love with the car and will keep it for the next 20-plus years. I like the Cascada, in the Midwest, Buick is making good sales here, I think. It's a nice piece of German Engineering that I think is underrated, because GM has not made the effort to promote the brand. That's my two cents.

Seems like GM doesn’t respect their other brands other than Chevy. They always restricted the other companies like Pontiac. Can’t have a Firebird better than a Corvette.... Why not make all of your options strong options

I have the OPEL Cascada in Germany since it came out in autumn 2013 and still it´s fun to drive it - not to make sport drives but to enjoy the gliding on the road, in particular smaller roads to live nature. It seems, the features are slidly diferent in the Buick. The Infotainment system in the OPEL is better then in the Buick, the reverse camera e.g. is integrated in the central Infotainment system. Also I have it with the Flex-ride System, were you can choose sport, normal and smooth, which also gives in the sport mode a faster accelaration. It seems this is not offered in the Buick. Ok, the buttons in the center look many, but they are subgrouped to Infotainment and Comfort features. Mainly I use the buttons on the steering wheel or manage Telefone or Navigación in the speach mode (Navi 900). Interesting is the space and flexibility of the rear seats. On a longer trip, even when opened there is suficient space for a leek Samsonite and smaller bags.

That center stack just exemplifies their target market for this car, older people 😂

I didn't know this car existed until an hour ago when one parked next to me. Looked nice. Looked like a Chrysler Sebring. By 2016 people had enough of that car. But it had a 2.7 V6 that made 200hp. I can see why this never got off the ground. It was fun to find your review and see what that car was about. Good stuff. Thanks

This is really an Astra j 2009 with the roof changed and some different suspension etc. It was one of OPELs best cars ever.

Realistically all this car is, was the return of the Pontiac G6 convertible, or back-in-the-day the Chevy Cavalier convertible. Or in better terms a two door Buick Verano convertible. Which of course the Buick Verano was just a dressed up Chevy Cruze.

Peugeots purchase of Opal (and subsequently Vauxhall in the UK) led the new French masters to cut production of this Buick badged but Polish built cabriolet.

They should have put the Regal's 2.0 turbo engine in this. That probably would get the 0-60 down to around 6.5 seconds.

The dual exhaust is because here in Europe it depends on what engine you put into cascada. Some engines has one exhaust, some has two.

Seems like the perfect car for a parent to buy a daughter that just earned a full scholarship.

Had one for a long weekend at the beach. The owner where I work has a house he lets employees stay at once in a while and this is the car in the garage. Fun? Sure. Ever buy one? No way.

I just researched the reviews and I’m amazed that some are calling this 200hp 200 ftlb tq in a 3900 lb car under powered. Lol

The gap at the side of the chair in europe is where the controls are to activate the fans inside the seats to cool you down on hot days, blowing cool air into your rear crevice o.o, since leather can get very hot. The hole on the other side of the USB port is an aux port, not a place holder. Also, the BiTurbo model has two exausts here in the UK. My main issue with this car is that busy centre console, so many buttons as you pointed out, looks very dated and can often be difficult to live with. It's interesting that the back up camera in the US is in the mirror as mine here in the UK shows on the main screen, nice and clear with markers etc. I wonder why that is different? I wonder if the US has/had the version with Sport and Tour mode as the really do affect the overal experience: Sport: The settings of the systems areadapted to a sportier driving style: ● Damping of shock absorbers reacts more stiffly to provide better contact with the roadsurface. ● The engine reacts more quickly to the accelerator pedal. ● Steering support is reduced. ● Shift points of automatictransmission occur later. ● With SPORT mode activated, the illumination of main instrumentschanges from white to red. Tour: The settings of the systems area dapted to a comfort driving style: ● Damping of shock absorbersreacts more softly. ● Accelerator pedal reacts withstandard settings. ● Steering support is in standardmode. ● Shift points of automatictransmission occur in a comfortmode. ● Illumination of main instrumentsis white. Overall, I love mine and on those few months in the UK of Sunshine you can guarantee that roof is down and the Sport button is pressed hehe.

This is actually a halfway cool car. These are going to be strange cars like the Reata in 20 years. When these get below 10 grand I’ll buy one. They also have the rollover pop-up steel struts in the back. It’s a big thing for me. I would never buy a convertible without those.

Buick shot them selves in the foot when the first designed the car with a 4 cylinder. They should have used a 6 cylinder. That's why sales were dismal, a car that size it should pump out around 250 horse power with more updated tech.

Complaining about buttons? You would rather try to find touchscreen icons in bright sunlight? And have to find 3 of them to get through the menus to the icon you really want? And fight trying to hit the right one, and make sure you hit it hard enough/long enough, for it to register,e specially wearing gloves? Or for people with long fingernails? Buttons are great. Touchscreens are awful. Buick learned this decades ago with the Reatta.

History? I always thought Opal was a GM subsidiary in Europe. The 1960s and 70s Opal Kadette, Manta, and GTs were sold on Buick showroom floors. I remember the recession in the early 1970s made the Dollar weak so imported Opals got too expensive is the only reason Buick stopped selling them in the USA.

These are pretty cheap now, and only going to get cheaper. Wish the engine and audio controls were better, though.

I really want to like Buick but they don't have a car for me. The Regal Sportback has too many drawbacks at its pricepoint and their other cars aren't appealing to my tastes. Cascada looks really cool but I'm not a fan of convertibles. I loved the Buick Avista concept car and would have bought it if it was in my budget, but they're not releasing it. Very unfortunate.

I have the 2019 Cascada Sport...Omg I love it...

I think the presenter should have done his homework better.The European version 1.6 Turbo ECOTEC 147kW / 200hp and the 2.0 CDTI ECOTEC 125kW / 170 have a double exhaust. Either the American version is a different engine, but apparently not, or it is the 1.6 Turbo 100kW / 136hp version. And this last version has the single exhaust. I drive the 200hp version.

Why didn’t the continue the buttons to the shifter that would have been nicer

The bottom line regarding this vehicle is that it's a stylish 2-door convertible that would require a powertrain upgrade and significant interior/technology upgrades to remain relevant. Obviously that's not going to happen, though.

Well, it kinda reminds me of a Toyota Solara convertible. Too much weight, too little power for me. Until today, I didn't even know this car existed! That tells me someone in the advertising dept. at Buick, dropped the ball! For me, It wouldn't have made a difference though. Don't get me wrong, I love convertibles, but having said that, the new Hot hatch design cars are whats selling like hotcakes. Probably due to movies like "Fast and Furious". No demand for this type of vehicle anymore. Buick is correct in dropping this model from their lineup. I'm still watching and droooling over that vlog you did on the Veloster 'N' model! Saw one at a gas station and was like buick makes a 2 door convertible? Yeah that engine choice is what kills it, a 1.6 and is still only getting mediocre fuel economy...poor choice and also upselling it as a luxury convertible with a soft top when everyone else has a retractable hardtop...many reasons it was not successful

First problem is the name. Is dumb name and too long. Second it’s a big car/suv/crossover segment world nowadays. Third no one looks to Buick’s for any cool cars specially convertibles.

Lol! You must be joking. That power to weight ratio abysmal. Hell the 2004 Chrysler crossfire got to 215hp & 229ftlb on a 2970lb ( take out the unnecessary bulky powered seats and you could drop the weight to 2900 pounds flat) That was with a 3.2 liter engine with 2004 technology naturally aspirated. I use this as an example because the Chrysler crossfire also came out in the 35000 to $48,000 range on its debut. This 2019 excuse for a sports car is a Cascade of crap. GM's constant fight between general mastry & general mediocrity
