Is the 2020 BMW M240i a good substitute for a convertible M2? 

great camera angle! I've watched dozens of videos and urs demonstrates the speed of shifting the best. Damn the 8 speed ZF shifts like a dual clutch

just picked up a 2017! Brilliant car. Good for right in between the M2 and the lower end 2 series cars. Great daily driver and great when you want to have some fun. Plus I found one in manual, which just makes the car that much better. Great review.

I think it's a cute and fun little beach sports car.

This is a fabulous car even though it's not a "full" M2. Interior is showing its age though but there is an all new model is due later in 2020. Look forward to Joe giving the M2 Competition a review too.

I think these cars are great but convertibles don't look nearly as slick as the coupe. Considering buying used low-mileage and then tuning with intake/Remus exhaust - similarly priced to Mustang GT/ Camaro SS but much quicker, and better interior. XDrive version is also quicker than M2 RWD off the line and living in Northeast, better for inclement weather (although wouldn't use in the winter). $40-$45K for clean 2/3 yr old, not bad. I need to read up on maintenance costs/reliability with the platform, but they are nice.

Black interior in the Tampa area Zonk! The interior on every BMW looks the same... Except the beautiful Alpina B7. E-Class Cabriolet is what Id like to see.

Sport + helps tighten the steering if the car is equipped with it but I have the same problem in my 428i real sketchy if you push it through a turn the car wants to oversteer .

I love my m240i convertible, i added aremus exhaust to mine plus carbon fiber defusors, i wish there was an m2 drop top

Base boxster is same price. At least then you have the prestige of a Porsche

You need to review the x3 ssuv. By far BMW's biggest seller and possibly the best ssuv on the market.

I like the size and tossable nature of the 240, but please make mine a 6spd coupe.

Love the blue also with the black interior. But not a fan of the drop top of any kind.

I have the exact same car in a convertible in a manual STICK...only way to appreciate the performance in my opinion.

Beautiful car but the convertible component looks super fragile I mean what app is debris on the back part and when you flipped put the top back on it doesn't close properly I don't know

2018 M240i twin scroll turbo has functional side openings on front bumper. I wonder why they blocked them on the 2020??

Hey Joe this is funny that your doing a video on this car I’ve been heavily researching these for my next purchase recently. I personally don’t think they are diluting the M badge with this car because they’re not labeling it as a true m car it is the m240 not the m2. Kinda like Audi has the S3 then the RS3.

BMW M240, M340 and M550 to bridge the performance gap between the basic setup and the full on M and it’s been highly successful and so much so Mercedes Benz is now doing it. It’s an M that you can daily drive.

I'd prefer to 240i over the m2 cause you can get awd. That and somewhat better mileage is a plus. To me, those two pros outweigh the lower performance

Great video! But this is not the 'smallest' car that starts in the BMW range as there is the 1 series. The M140i is just finishing and there is going to be the new M135i ... also as the M240i is an M Performance car the things you mentioned like front splitter, trunk spoiler lip etc you can have them all with the M Performance pack. I see your model has the M Performance rear diffuser and M Performance exhaust system so not sure why you dont have the other M Performance parts? Also a bit confused as to why this is the '2020' M240i but you dont have the 2020 dash inside it and have the 2018 / 2019? Very informative video tho, thanks.

Barely showed roof, nothing on using it

This car looks so dated. That small infotainment screen, analog gauges, manual handbrake, that weird antenna at the back. Also the wheels are too small. The only thing good about it is that the engine sounds good and that it’s quick. But for $60k, I definitely expected more tech than that.

All mlite cars are really good cars

M2 is a much better car, especially when it comes to performance and handling but a bit more expensive than this convertible. Don't ask me how I know but then again I'm biased ;-)
