The ALL NEW 2020 Explorer ST is here! This is the first time that an Explorer has every worn the ST Ford Performance badge. Under the hood is a 3.0L V6 EcoBoost engine pumping out 400 HP, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, and sending power to an AWD system. On the inside the bar has been raised with a 10in vertical infotainment screen and 12in driver display. With all the improvements and additions for has made with the 2020 Explorer ST is it their best SUV ever?

Wish the ST branding on the seat was maybe done in red or even white stitching. i think the third rows gets the hard plastics treatment because it really is a part of the cargo area too.

Hello Joe I've been waiting for this 1 for a long time and yes it's finally here. I love the sound of that twin turbo at high RPMS. 1 thing I don't like is the fake exhaust tip and barely any sound coming from that tip. I would absolutely and most definitely would love to see a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe Premier RST with the Performance Brake & Borla Exhaust system in Summit White exterior color. Keep up the amazing work and reviews. Thanks Joe.

Actually the trunk opened because the ST model comes with the available Foot-Activated Liftgate. Your body was underneath the sensor which activated the liftgate. No malfunctions here. Great video!

For everyone complaining about the 10 inch portrait-oriented screen, that's only stock on the Platinum and otherwise part of a $995 "Technology Package" for the other trim levels that most buyers won't opt for anyway. Stock is an 8 inch horizontal that far fewer people are going to complain about

My ST with Track Pack and Moon Roofs was ordered on 4/40/2019. I expect to take delivery in early August. I presently have a Shadow Black 2018 Exp Sport. It is a wonderful truck, fast and handles well. The 2020 is going to be even better! Also, The Ford Octane Academy performance driving school that comes with the ST was a surprise. It is offered to ST buyers on the ST window sticker which can be printed form the Ford Vehicle Tracking Website.

Hey, Joe. It always seems like the traffic cooperates with you. Never any jams or slowpokes in front of you when you want to open it up. Weird how that phantom tailgate opened like that. So, are all new Explorers seven passenger configurated, with three rows? I don't remember the older ones being that big. And do you know why they went from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive? It seems to buck the decades long trend. Anyway, nice truck and review! Thanks.

Keith Tulloch Sr In a nutshell, all wheel drive means the computers in the vehicle dictate when all 4 wheels need to be used, as opposed to 4 wheel drive, where the driver controls the operation. And 4 wheel drive vehicles have a center locking differential, which means theres power to all 4 wheels .

I have 2 major issues with this $58K ST. First, why is there no performance exhaust Available ? Second, why does it have a hood prop. Needs a latch mechanism at this price point.

Nice review. I did see this at the Chicago Auto Show and I like it but that screen sticking out of the dash is not kid friendly. Sync 3 is the best for anyone reading this but have never tried it out. I am not sure what to buy next but will consider this one.

Yes it’s stiffer. Noticeably. If you have back/hip issues, you should compare the rides of the ST vs limited/platinum & aviator w/ it’s air ride. Also note the ST & platinum can be upgraded with the 22-adjustable seats, which is what we are considering.

Slick shifting 10spd transmission? The 10 speed couldnt find a gear on my f150.. thats why i traded it in.. That was a 2018.. Have they fixed it?

Joe another great video. Why didn't Ford put in the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 pumping out 450 HP & mated to a 10-speed gearbox into the 2020 Ford Explorer ST? Now that would of been INSANE!!!!! I have a 2016 Ford Explorer Sport with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and it flies:). Love the overall aggressive look of SUV. Keep up the great work.

The lift gate opened because it has that foot activation feature and you were messing around under the truck. Also you were in the 6 passenger not 7 passenger explorer. I really want this truck!!!!

I got to checked out it was a black exterior color same as in this review with the standard 20" wheels, huge vertical 12 inch tablet, twin panoramic moonroof with the review back seats entertainment tv. Overall this car look awesome from exterior to interior love it. I am Definitely getting one.

They did the exhaust like that to keep the carbon( from DI) off the rear bumper and tail pipes. Im glad because its unsightly and hard to get off the bumper.

The ST has a sport drive mode that makes the exhaust a bit louder and I would much rather have the prop rod than struts. Struts wear out and aren't necessary. I bought the first ST and I love it, and traded in a Sport.

Great looking SUV with it's new rear wheel drive platform with Awd. 400 HP and tons of new technology. I believe it's the best 3 roll SUV on the market, hands down. Love the body lines and slopping roofline. Fantastic interior with a monster infotainment screen option (standard on the ST). I was wondering while you were reviewing the tailpipes and you had the key fob in your pocket. You waived your hand under the rear that opened the hatch. Great review on a great SUV. I believe Ford's hit a home run with the new Explorer.

Nah not even close. My durango SRT runs 13 flat and 0-60 in 4.1. My 3rd row very comfortably seats 2 adults and I can tow up to 8700lbs easily which I do ;)

Running a chassis 10+ years old is hardly new even though years change. 1st quarter 2019: Ford Explorer sold 89,853 copies of the outgoing 2019 model and the Durango sold 31,453. Sales is what counts. Not 0-60 times. The new 2020 Explorer will easily surpass 100,000 units solid this year from customers waiting for the new model.

They need to have a Platinum version with the same tuned 400hp engine and big brakes. To have Platinum be their Lincoln like class like the outgoing generation... where the materials are better than the new incoming Platinum.

Dude in this vid you should have been raving at Ford for having the guts to go back RWD! That would have been the first, middle x3 and the last thing I mentioned. It's a huge deal with a lot of us true gear heads. There's a reason why Benz and BMW haven't strayed away from RWD.

I prefer the Explorer Platinum it's almost as powerful and torquey as the ST, but it's loaded with luxury and technology features. Plus - it doesn't have the stuck-on letters across the hood.

Love this explorer but that price tag is insane! This thing should be no more than $45-50k tops. That said, this SUV is definately a sleeper! Can't wait to see what this thing does with some bolt ons and a good tune
