Honestly the scenery is beautiful tho especially when reviewing an off-road vehicle like this one! Nice colour option for the truck! And overall looks are very stunning
@@andresgarcia3516 lol, the vk56 is manufactured in Tennessee. the titan is no#3 above Chevy Silverado in the made in America list. look up some facts, don't dream some up.
@@andresgarcia3516 yeah originally designed after the vq and vh engine. It's not Japanese though, design yes, is it? no. Do you call Spaghetti Chinese food because it originated there?
@@thesmokingplank No sir. That engine is all Japanese for the past 20+ yrs . The Saudis been using that engine in their country for years before it made its way to the states.lol
william allen well Scotty is saying China prices on car sales have slashed big time not sure if America will budge in that manner or just good apr’s like your saying
I know right. I started watching Joe when he had ~10k subs. I was hooked to this channel right after Joe saying “Mustang’s been around since 1964 1/2”.” 😂
This is a very good truck. Shouldn't be compared to the Tundra. The Tundra is dead - totally irrelevant. The updated Titan is probably aiming for some Chevy, Ford and Ram meat.
Well first Nissan has to sell three times as many Titans to catch the Tundra and then perhaps the Tundra will only be significantly more relevant than the Titan.
Titan is definitely way better truck. Pro4x comes with locking rear diff. Nothing is offered in the tundra. Tian comes with 33s stock, tundra has 32s. Titan has a 9 speed and gets 21 highway. Tundra still has a 6speed and gets 17 highway. Titan lacks abit in the aftermarket support but it's a great truck for the money. You can get slightly used titan for amazing prices. Definitely the most underrated truck on the market. My dad picked up the XD with the cummins. Amazing truck. He had the 2014 tundra before and titan is miles ahead in interior quality and sound reduction. Biggest thing is the seats. Zero gravity seats on the titan are so comfy for long road trips. We did 1500 mile road trip in both titan and tundra. Hands down titan was miles ahead of the tundra in comfort. Even the diesel XD gave better mpg than the tundra. I plan to pick up a used sv titan. Dont care about off roading but I'll still give it a slight level with 33s and make it my work horse. Amazing motor and power plant. Definitely one of the fastest and most reliable trucks on the market.
Just my opinion but the Titan is better looking than the Tundra. Plus I don't think the Tundra has a true locking rear differential. That color is amazing.
I'm still rocking my 2008 Nissan Titan and absolutely love it. I had always been a Chevy man before, traded my 2012 Chevy 1500 for this 08 and I feel like I traded up back when I did it. It is just plain an all around better truck. It tows 100 times better than my half ton did, and actually even better than my 2500HD Chevys with the 6.0L gas engine did. I will forever be a Titan owner from here on out. Have had mine for 2 years now, 238,350 miles, runs excellent and minimal problems but basic upkeep. I LOVE my titan. And the crew cab is huge. I have zero problems putting my kids 2 carseats back there and still have plenty of room. The Titan doesnt get near the recognition it deserves.
Glad to hear it! I was the same exact way. Except for the F-150 I had for a brief time, I've only ever had Chevrolet's as well, my most recent being an 06' 2500 HD with the 6.0 liter. After driving the 21' Pro-4X and falling in love with it, I made the leap! 2 months in, and I am still pleased with my purchase. I have yet to tow with it, but I'm certain it will do well. So far it definitely seems like the underdog that just doesn't get the love it deserves!
@@curtissmith5924 Will they last because I really like this truck, reliability of course goes to Toyota but this engine Nissan uses has been around for years. So I feel like they have had plenty of time to work out the kinks. One more question, how is the mpg with regular use?
@@bcw686 I am nearing my 2 year anniversary with my 21' P4X, and I still love it! The only issue I have to report is the passenger side door not being aligned correctly and letting in water. The dealer did get it corrected though, at no cost to me, and it has been great ever since. I still love all the features this truck has, and considering it is a V8, I feel the MPG's are pretty decent. I would say most trips around town I can expect 16-17, and the highway 21, all the way up to 24 miles per gallon. I agree, this 5.6 has quite a bit of history, and so far seems to be rock solid if maintained. As well, this may be the only truck you can get these days that has a naturally aspirated V8 with no auto start stop or cylinder deactivation, which is a selling point to me. Less nannies and more simplicity is always a plus in my book. I have also done some towing since, and this truck has no issue at all. The 9-speed transmission shifts almost seamlessly once its got a couple miles on it. The only advantage my 2500 HD had over this truck was load capacity, but not by as much as you would think. I definitely came to the realization an HD truck was completely unnecessary for what I use it for. I also thought I would be giving up more going from an extended cab long bad to a short box crew cab, but if anything having more room inside the cab has been an advantage. As far as my favorite things about this truck? The LED lighting is exceptional! I don't recall if he touched on it in this video, but these trucks have the ability to raise and lower the lights with a switch, depending on your payload, which other drivers definitely appreciate (It also has auto-dimming, and rain sensing wipers). As far as complaints? The only gripe I have at this time is the heated seats. Instead of a heating element like most vehicles, these trucks essentially have a fan that takes quite awhile to heat. If I could change one thing, it would definitely be that. Otherwise I would still buy this truck again! It's a shame more people don't cross-shop these with the big 3 and Toyota. I just hope the Titan can continue to hang on!
@@curtissmith5924 Excellent reply, this is exactly what I wanted to know. I keep hearing that too about the Titan going away but also hear as many people saying it won't. If you can get just say 20mpg's on the highway then I am in cause I want a V8!
I have owned 2 Nissan trucks and they were literally indestructible. I ran both trucks hard, maintained them well and when it came down to trade them in (Crickets)....poor resale value! I DON'T understand for the life of me why either. Nissan makes really good trucks but Toyota kills them on the resale, although admittingly they too are beginning to suffer when it comes to resale value now especially the Tundra and Tacoma. American buyers are waking up to those two dinosaurs finally and realizing they are paying gobs of money for the word "Reliability" (yeah right) meanwhile they enjoy riding much more in their buddies RAM or whatever bc it is slammed with accouterments. Good job as always Joe keep it coming, brother!
YES !!!! the real review I've been waiting for, you my friend touched on all the major points, and you gave us the off-road footage...Hands Down the best review of the PRO-4X !!!
I'm a ram guy myself but this is a nice rig. As always great reviews Joe. Always an awesome job. Please stay safe and healthy out there man! I'd like to keep watching ya for a long time!
I’m gonna laugh so hard when Nissan inevitably finds a way to put a CVT in a truck😂. Also, who’s in agreement that joe needs to tell Nissan to upgrade the key fob? My friend’s 2012 Altima has the same key fob. Time for a change
One of your best truck reviews on your Channel Joe and Lori well done!!! I’m a Titan man, love my 2019 PRO-4X the most underappreciated truck out there.
I have a 2021 pro4x fully loaded luv everything about this truck. Evertime I get in it I smile. Traded in 2019 maxima Sr. Don't miss her at all . Trucks have come a long way in my 50 years on this planet
Great review joe, but i am wondering about one thing. I see you zonked the shift lever for the materials used but not on the functionality of it. I have seen several other reviews that complained about the lever being flimsy and not giving a crisp feeling for the gear selected. Did you notice any issues with that?
I test drove one the other day. Yes the column shifter felt cheap with a loose feel. Only gripe I had. Otherwise I really liked it. Considering this or a ram rebel
I have a 2018 Midnight Edition and was a first time truck buyer. These titans are great entry-level value pickups for people who have never had a pickup truck before. I do plan to trade my current truck in and get the 2020 Titan after watching this in depth review. These are just overall great trucks for its class as far as, value, performance, quality, and options; and highly overlooked.
I had a Titan XD with the 5 litre Cummins as a work truck. But it was a rough truck. On the highway it was fine, but city driving sucked. The transmission was real jerky. Went with a 1 ton Ram after the lease ended.
Definitely Nissan on this one I can't stand that Toyota hasn't changed prettpretty much anything for years. Nissans interior tech and exterior for that matter far outmatch most trucks without having to buy "premium" or "platinum" or "lariat" or "big horn" that all go for 70,000 plus
The cup holders in the back seat arm rest is really dumb... You already have 2 regular cup holders the middle guy doesn't get a cup holder but the 2 back passengers get 4 cup holders?!?! This doesn't add up
Joe I started off looking at the 2020 Tacoma trd pro, then decided on the 4runner pro since it now is keyless entry, but I've been part of the Nissan family before owning 2 Altima's one being an 09 SL blacked out. I never was a fan of their trucks because they always seemed bland to me... but this truck right here has me. I love the all dark interior plus the panoramic moon roof, the fender sound system which the moon roof and system I had in my 2015 Tiguan SEL. Once I get my settlement I believe I will be purchasing this especially after your video. I have already looked at bed racks for over landing as well as truck bed deck systems for extra storage. Thanks man, hopefully you'll be able to do another one on this for the hell of it.🙏🤘
Avoid that Tacoma bro. In 2016 they went with 3.5L and 6 speed auto and it's a dog. You gotta rev that truck to the moon to get any torque out of it. If you want midsize in my opinion Ranger is only option. This is a super dope truck, I don't think you can go wrong with any full size truck nowadays except Chevy with that old @ss 5.3L. Good luck in your search man but cross that Tacoma out for good.
This guy does great thorough reviews with good content and is not boring! I’m considering a Titan or Ram 1500 with the 60/40 tailgate for my first truck! Choices....
Thank you for the review. You are right about "There is no perfect truck out there". You can only find the one close to your taste. I think you are hitting the right notes while giving the review on this Titan. It was like that you answered questions I would have asked. Thank you for risking your life film this review while we are in the middle of a pandemic.
Love the specs of the Titan, but the Tundra is known for reliability. So redesigned Tundra? 😂 Man, I hate saying redesign, but technology is evolving faster than we can understand it. Great vid, Joe!
@@JokerG16 That's what I've been hearing. For me to call something reliable, it needs to be out for a couple of years. Haven't heard much complaints about the Diesel Titans, but I heard a few about the V8 gas ones. I'm hoping for the best for Nissan cuz the rest of the pickup trucks needs some upgrades.
Victor Le I was dead set on getting a pro4x Titan stepping up from my pro4x Xterra and went with a Tundra. The build quality on the pre 2020 titans is terrible, terrible paint, just overall cheap feeling. I'm hoping with the refresh that things will be changed but can't say yet.
@@cobaltgofast And I also heard that about literally everything else in Nissan's lineup maybe besides the Frontier. I heard about catalytic converter and electronic issues on the Titans. I like Nissan's spec competition, but then past reliability...
Victor Le The frontier is the only "new" Nissan I'd buy still and that's only because they haven't changed. Not sure how they will be with the new 3.8L and 9 speed trans. I absolutely loved my Xterra and will own one again but it's impressive when a v6 SUV averages the same mpg as a full sized thirsty tundra.
Joe you missed the pen and card holder places. The one thing i dont like about the Titan is that they should have put 6100/5160's shocks on it and it would be perfect, maybe a taller lift too!!
Love the black grill, but the frame should be smaller. Also wish it was available in a matte Army Green and had a power rear window. The Baha Storm color looks good, but I prefer the Quicksand color on my 2016 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. The smaller back seat leg space is a deal breaker. Size matters with respect to cabin space.
I really like the camera shot of you guys going over the dirt bridge/ obstacle course. Would've been a lot cooler if you had a go-pro camera stuck on the front fender to show how steep it was to us viewers. Great review though.
The best thing that had going for that truck was the Cummins engine but the idiots at Nissan didn’t market they way they should have it’s soo sad. They should have continued with that and expand the line up but beefing up the power and offering a dually model
Engine sounds great. Ask Scotty about JATCO transmissions. They are not so good. I think Toyota uses AISIN...those are almost bullet proof. Toyota has the most reliable truck on the market. Toyota and Honda have the most longest lasting product made...Toyota is on the top of the list. Some NISSANS also have some CAT issue which can lead to TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE. Is an issue with TITAN and ARMADA. Owning 3 Toyotas already and knowing how good they are...next truck is a Tundra. Toyota is the best product I have ever owned. My Taco is already over 100 000 miles and still going strong.
Scotty is awesome , but dead wrong on some things. He says the same about Fords 10 speed. It is a very good transmission. This also uses a new 9 speed , and it completely different. Yes the older 7 speed were not good , but a entirely different transmission.
Tundra reliability being bulletproof is the only thing that keeps me from buying another truck, I haven’t had to replace my truck it’s a 2008 Tundra 260k miles and I just get regular oil changes, tyres, brakes Etc
