Bought a 2021 sparkle white platinum about a month in a half ago... hands down my favorite vehicle i have ever owned!!! Im usually a chevy/gmc girl owning silverados corvettes camaros yukons even a cadi... this nissan is my favorite though! And i love that its not the same old tahoe i see everywhere around my town!
You guys should take very good care of those cars. I plan to buy one of these in like 4 years from now and plan to pay half of what you guys are paying for it brand new.. So, half price off. So, you better take good care of it so I get a good car when I buy it from one of you guys.
@@myytchannel6632 i have the whole thing covered… with seat covers, kick mats, and steering wheel cover. Im enjoying the suv very much, as of now i think i will just switch to leasing a new one every 3yrs planing on that in 2yrs
@@AngelJLBap Well, it sounds like you sure are keeping it well. I wish I can buy mine from someone who will keep theirs very well like you. If you do not mind me asking. What trim do you have? SV, SL or Platinum? Is yours 4x4? How much did you pay drive out for it?
I really wish they did a PRO4x version of this truck, I like the ride and drivetrain. I worked for a Nissan service department for 15 years and never saw a drivetrain failure. A off road version of this SUV would be on the top of my list.
It’s built on the global Nissan Patrol platform which has Land Cruiser levels of respect in Australia. I’d also love to get those off road goodies. My daily is an F150 but my “toy” is a 2002 Xterra and I love it.
Recently purchased a '21 Armada Platinum. Love the vehicle. Side note, I am 6'2" and can fit comfortably in the 3rd row when you recline the seats back. Nice thing is that there are dual controls both on the seat armrest and behind for the 3rd row.
Pickups are much better dirty haulers because its a big external box and you don't care about damaging your interior (or bringing in bugs). The suburban on the other hand is designed to take standard sized sheets of 4x8 building materials like a longbed HD truck, then you still have 3 rows on the weekend. When my friend moved recently the movers showed up with a box truck and a Yukon XL and they put so much stuff in the Yukon it was unreal. Personally half ton pickup trucks are pretty pointless these days. Midsize trucks do their job of payload better, any real work you should probably get a 3/4th ton and for the 2-3 times a year home depot home project warrior, an SUV (or minivan) will be your best bet. I wanted a pickup truck since I was a little boy (like 5) but I have a jeep grand cherokee and other than the length, not being able to fit a standard size door in there, I've had absolutely no issue doing what I need with an SUV and for the 2-3 times a year I really need more I could rent a truck or buy a trailer. The payload and towing is there in these full size SUV's and they are infinitely better to drive day to day, especially the american ones with full 4 corner independent suspension.
Actually, ford hasn't redesigned or refreshed the expedition, as it was redesigned in 2018. I'm expecting a mid-cycle refresh soon, now that there's a new F-150, which is what the expedition is based on.
It's nice but, the GM's win with fuel mileage, 3rd row seating, packages and options, and numerous other things. Good rig if you want to buy Nissan though.
We've owned 3 Armadas and loved all of them. Yes, the gas mileage stinks but that's our only complaint. Otherwise, they are terrific all around vehicles and the power train is hard to beat.
Focus on quality steve. You are better than the others. Dont just put a video out , to get one out. For heaven sake, take one of those car seats out and get your ass in the back seat to atleast show us legroom. Do what you do best, do better next time.
Who are the people buying these expensive vehicles? My wife and I make over 100k a year combined and I feel like it would be financial suicide financing one of these. I guess triple digit income is still poverty these days.
Nice refresh. Still some underlying things that make it show it’s age... tiny sunroof, ridiculously slow power folding third row and it needs a couple extra cogs in the transmission to help fuel economy. Great to see the brake controller. Love the Nissan V8 though and the Patrol platform is proven around the world.
I prefer a pickup truck. I think a pickup is a Swiss army knife. I go 🏕⛺ camping...I can put my portable black/Grey tank in the box. I can fill the box with fire 🪵 wood. With a tonneau or cap and a locking tailgate, all is under lock and key. I think it is hard to beat a pickup truck.
@@colbydrags seem 1 Gen better built by American then back to Japan for 2 Gen till 3rd Gen which it's betterment lowest recalls than 2nd Gen. Getting 1Gen and 3 Gen are best to buying.
Such as unappreciated and underrated Truck.. There are so many Videos that show off roading and extreme challenges that this Armada (not Patrol) can take. BEAUTIFUL ENGINE!!! NO Recalls and no heavy expensives for my 2017 Armada with 72,000 miles, brought it with 19k miles for 58k
Stephen, For hauling I would say a SUV and a utility trailer would be the best approach. Keeping a sturdy tarp inside your SUV at all times is an excellent way to maximize cargo capability while protecting interior appointments. Congratulations on passing 40K Subscribers!!!!
Awesome video as always Steve!!😃Hey!! Is that my friend Howard..in the shadows..Funny.. didn't see the shadow of say...74' F 100!!😆😄How are ya Howard!!?Enjoy the day guys😃😎
H has gone to the dark side, which begs the questions, are you paying her? And, is that the children I see playing in the field alone? Lol. Nice to see this family brand growing by leaps and bounds. Bravo. Keep doing what you are doing.
If you’re in the market for an Expedition, Tahoe or Yukon and you don’t put the Armada on your test drive list, you’re doing yourself a huge disservice.
Not even close to the ford or chevy's. Especially when you start to talk room, power, longevity and fuel economy. The interior to me, is weirdish/blah, that is personal though. I believe they are not that popular for a reason.
2016-2020 rear bumper looks bigger plump lip looky.. 2021-2024 Their rear bumper looks so much betterment, and it cut off half of thickness lip away, and it smaller lip now on 2021-2024. It's much better. However, last as 3rd Gen were end. 2016-2020 taillights looks like a sadly eyed. 2021-2024 is a lot better.
Really not sold as an off roader in the US is it ? So many off road features missing that we get down under, but you guys have the updated interior, different target market I guess
Have owned a Suburban, Expedition a Dodge van and still have a Ford 350 Econoline long wheelbase and a GMC Sierra 1500 with an 8 foot box. All had great attributes for certain jobs but that E 350 could take a 40x48 pallet of advertising material in both the rear and side doors at the printers location and haul it anywhere. Just a brute! Looks like I'd have to change out of my filthy overalls before I got in the Armada.
For hauling stuff I'd choose a long ford transit with the 3.5 ecoboost. It can fit 12 foot lumber, has a payload as good as an f-150, an interior that you won't mind getting dirty and all your cargo is protected from the elements and locked securely and it can be had with AWD. As long as it doesn't have to do duty as a daily driver, this would be my choice for hauling stuff. Heck, if you get the tall roof and the long body you could probably put a small quad and a couple of dirt bikes in it.
Ford is so stupid for only offering the 3.5L Twin Turbo V6 that falls apart. People want a good sounding V8, with immediate power, that won’t leak coolant into the engine or blow up before 60,000 miles.
So far I have 04 Tahoe suv that I haul my passengers and a large tuba.Take out the third row seats and fold down second row seats and I haul quite a bit of school horns (30) in variety size for summer repairs to my shop, also hauled old concrete bricks and patio stones to the dump. But my next vehicle I will go a mid size truck and haul more rugged stuff, like snowblower, lawn mower for servicing .Try it to fit a new snowblower last year to put in the Tahoe and it didn’t clear the opening of the hatch, so the next day I got my sons small pickup truck to load the blower.
I switched to a Ridgeline from an Xterra for that reason, had the X 8 years, not one repair. The 08 Ridge has the same history no repairs and I did not trash the interior hauling house stuff or need a trailer to haul my scooters.
They made this Armada look really nice, but it’s not that competitive. It only offers one engine with poor fuel economy. They are not even close to the GMC/Chevrolet big SUVs.
Ahhhhh NO! According to Consumer Reports surveys, the Nissan Armada is rated average & owner satisfaction is below average. The Suburban is rated average & owner satisfaction is better than average. If someone wants reliable & great off-road, buy the Toyota Land Cruiser.
@Pro4x Trdpro - I guess you prefer JDPower, solely employed by the automakers to boost the popularity & reputation their products, but they don’t tell you about the lemons.
@Pro4x Trdpro - Just FYI: Consumer Reports reliability ratings come straight from owners. That’s real people having real problems or no problems. If someone is tearing down engines & transmissions on new vehicles, they are either stupid or they are having serious problems. Why would anyone tear down a 2019 or newer Armada engine or transmission if it wasn’t having problems? I don’t know one person that has taken their Armada or Suburban off road. Most buy the 4WD for snow. Sure, you can take them off road, but why? I haven’t seen anybody drive their Armada up into the muddy mountains to strap their bloody deer on the top or in the hatch. Most people in the USA haul people, cargo & tow with these & rarely take them off road. In other countries, that’s a whole different story.
Hi Stephen, really nice review on the Armada. When I first saw the title of this video, I was thinking..oh no, not a another Nissan review but then quickly changed my opinion after watching this video. I wonder if this SUV is made in Japan, if so Nissan may have a silver bullet to change perceptions about the brand. The Nissan built in North America with CVT are absolute garbage. With this Armada being a V8, I think for a change Nissan may have a leg up on Toyota since they discontinued the Landcruiser in US but we still have the GX and LX from Lexus which both made in Japan.
@@kblue4506 That’s a good thing if they are made in Japan. Nissan really need a break to survive after the crooked CEO that run away to Lebanon. They are worthy company to be successful compared to the deceitful companies like Hyundai or KIA. The amount of victims Hyundai/KIA keep finding in Canada is absolutely surprisingly. Don’t people read customer satisfaction reviews and even consider buying some of the hidden gems from Ford or GM products. NEW Hyundai/KIA are better than 10 year old Toyotas, Nissan, non Turbo Hondas or Mazda but they are not better when compared NEW to NEW. Toyotas are miles ahead with built quality. I am speaking with experience of owning 3 decades of Honda, Toyota and Mazda.
For my need I would reduce it's scale to the size of a 4 Runner and improve it's fuel economy to 20 mpg. I like it's look better than the 4 runner but too big for most offroad
Given that the Armada is built on the platform of the Patrol, I do not understand Nissan's refusal to add the same off-road features of it's most direct competitor, the Toyota Sequoia. Given the popularity of the "off-road" aftermarket. It would be interesting to see the sales of the glitzy Platinum, with heated steering wheel, 39 cupholders, jumbo-tron tablet, and vagina warmers vs. a Pro-4x version that had an older interior (along the lines of the Xterra), rear locking differential, and came with off-road tires. It is irrelevant whether the vehicle is used for traversing the Rubicon Trail or a Starbucks parking lot, a sale is a sale. I don't know whether Nissan discontinued the Xterra due to sales or inability to meet EPA numbers, but I know that on the used market in my area, Xterras were selling very well last summer when I was looking.
If anyone can afford to pay 85K for an SUV, gas mileage is the last thing anyone will be concerned. It is more of a prestige and status when get into this price bracket. Reliability is absolutely pinnacle over gas mileage.
Frontier is a midsize truck, this Armada is a full-size based on frame shared with the Titan. Edit, confused with the first Gen trucks. This is based on the Patrol frame, but still has Titan derived drivetrain and a is a large SUV. Lol just got to the part where he talked about that.
@@ALMX5DP titan is still too overpriced, get a tundra, $50000, full sized truck, you lose the third row of seats and all the fancy stuff but it’s dead reliable
@@jtomtl they are a similar price, and differences in reliability are really quite small. Given the Titan (or any Nissan) also often have incentives, can’t go wrong with either.
Nissan is a great company, they do need To work on reliability. I like the innovation and competition they bring. Still driving my 2012 qx56 with 178k miles, and loving every mile. Was hoping they did a full new model
They're pretty reliable man, the only thing that held them back was the CVT and they're getting rid of it. You mean updating their interiors? Their engines are amazing.
I’m strongly considering it. That there aren’t a million of them already out there is really appealing to me. That it’s v8 on a ladder frame but slightly smaller that the Tahoe & expedition is ideal for me. And I relish the challenge of importing kit designed for the Patrol. Btw, you can fit 35s on this stock!
some people have had issues with gm's cylinder deactivation on their v8's and dont want a small turbo'd engine so this v8 without the cylinder deactivation might be closer to what they want plus you could probably get it under msrp pretty easily since nissan really wants to sell their vehicles
My wife just went 363 miles in her brand new Armada and got 17.3mpg on the first tank so you’re off by 4.8mpg. We bought it over the 3.0 L Yukon Denali and saved $16k. I can buy lots of fuel for that price difference. Sure, a Prius, would save me lots on gas but I have a big boat I need to tow. I guess I’ll keep it and it has a lifetime powertrain warranty too!
Nissan is a hit and miss. They have a chance if they really focus on their brand consistency...they need to first dump the CVT transmission, poor reliability.
@@Swindy1794 Yes, remember those Maximas from 1985-1992. Those were the cars were better than Camry and Accord and somehow Nissan lost track of their momentum.
