Is The 2022 CERVELO S5 Worth $19,000!? 

Me personally don't think that any high end road bike with whatever latest components attached to it by whichever manufacturer warrants anything in the league of 19,000 dollars 🤔...., Seriously people but what in the hell...... 🧐

Beyond my budget, but some of the bikes these days look pretty amazing. I remember 9speed lol! Sometimes super powerful brakes although great in most situations can make it tricky to stay upright if you overcook a corner like I did a few weeks ago though.

I sold my 2019 S5 and went back to rim brakes. The bike was nice and all, but not worth the hassle of integrated bars and disc brakes. If a bike takes an entire day and $100's of dollars in tools and equipment to swap out a stem, it really defeats the elegance and simplicity of a bike. If I was made of money and had a team of mechanics following me around, then I would have kept the bike. But for us mere mortals it is a very impractical bike to own that will surely cause headaches down the line.

This is known as faulty design of the fork and frame, just look at bike workshops... As discussed hundreds of times already, there is no added value to any of these hyped bikes. No NASA technology, no super hi-tech solutions or special quality just ordinary carbon, and components. Value 5K max.

And people wonder why guys and gals ate buying Yoeleo , Winspace and Elves bikes or frames they are nearly half the price of these new " super" bikes from the big brands.....

Maybe you can go for an 3T Strada due, it has about the same philosophy as the S5 (its designedby the same guy), but its way cheaper. I built it myself with the previous Ultegra Di2, its definitely a great bike!

Its 2021 and am still riding a 2004 aluminum bike with carbon fork and a 2004 ultegra group set 10 speed i can keep up with my regular group rides no reason to spend that much on a bike that is lot of money.. unless u are sponsored and ride pro 😏.. i ride mostly on zwift so i prefer spending on good trainer , nutrition n the rest ,.. i can service my bike in a few hours and fairly okay with rim brakes..

short answer:no long answer: no, because it is expensive asf

great bike but a consideration is the front end as if your want to change handlebar or stem its a full rerouting of hydro lines

Mine is a 2019, still love it. Save a couple thousand guys put 105 on it. Electronic shifting doesn't make you faster. I saved another couple thousand my frame had a blemish someone else didn't want. 😁

I'm sorry but the bike industry has lost its mind. I got my first road bike in 2006. It was a trek 1000 and paid 800 dollars. I just recently got back into cycling. I bought two Norco bikes for less than 900 dollars. Sure I want another bike with better components and carbon frame. But I won't spend more than 2,500 dollars. The problem with cycling is it's an snob sport. People who want to ride walk into a bike shop and get sticker shock. No bike makes you fast. Three months ago my average speed was was 11mph. On today's ride it was 16mph for 30 miles on a bike running claris. Ride your bike and lube, lube your chain, and you will eventually get faster. My goal is to be able to ride 22mph average. I'll get there in two months without wasting house down payment money

It’s certainly a nice bike, but that’s a lot of money to invest. My LBS has an Aspero in gravel set up for $10000 and that’s for an all-round bike.

No its not worth spending $22,000. Internal cables in the head seat are a pain in the ass. Intergrated handlebars as well can't be adjusted. Aero seat posts can only be replaced by the exact seat post whereas 27.2mm round seat posts can be replaced by a vast variety of seat posts. If you break your seat post or a just find the ride uncomfortable you are screwed. And disk brakes make the bike heavier and have more drag, great for gravel bikes but they totally mess up the core point of road race bikes being light. I have a Giant Propel and I think my old 2006 Tarmac Expert was a better bike, as well as the 2013 Tarmac SL2 Comp frame. You can buy a good Winspace frame for $1200 USD and fit it out to be lighter the that bike for ridiculously cheap. Aerodynamics is important but the bulk of drag comes from the rider and the way they carry all their kit. A skin suit and not carrying to much shit on your bike would be a better investment. Aero bike seat posts tend to be agony as well. If you really want to get a fast bike that's way faster and way more comfortable and you don't give a shit about convention a Cruzbike V 20 Vendetta recumbent or an M5 Carbon High Racer recumbent would both cost a fraction of the price of this.

Easy install, great to use

One crash and the bike is done. I know a few people that have bought S5's and have binned it and because there's no stoppers in the bars they hit the frame and crack it. Beautiful bike but 100% not worth it if you're racing it and not sponsored.

It's awesome looking bike and no doubt go excellent on the flats and mild inclines but for me there's no justification spending that much on a bicycle even if I had the money. For 20 grand you could go around the world for a few months and live in relative comfort doing it.

axs technology is still much more simple and serviceable. At 19000 I'll never buy one in my lifetime.

I thought the 12 spd di2 were wireless from the handle bars and they were using smaller cr cell batteries? similar to axs etap shifters.

I bought the 2020 S5 with mechanical Ultegra and Zipp 303S for ~AUD$8500 around Feb last year. I'm not sure I'd be willing to cough up almost 100% more on this version , nice as the wheels and groupset may be. At my very much even less than weekend warrior level of fitness, my S5 gives me maybe 3 to 4km/h more average speed than my gravel build 2018 Trek Domane, for a price premium of around $2k. I don't race, but the S5 is a hell of a lot more fun than the Trek if I'm barrelling down a hill, haha.

It looks nice EEEEEEEE ok i guess. I have a carbon Garry Fisher MB in that color from 98 ... Not worth that money i don't like the stem pointing up looks like a Hybrid bike. I haven't gotten a new road bike since 2018 ha ha ha 🤦‍♂️ i just don't like Disk I got cyclocross and gravel disk. But im thinking About it. Most of the riding i do is indoors so im thinking tack indoor bike.. But i need a new Road bike Im waiting to see what the new Madone will look like.
