30.7 on this bike feels higher than the tiger sport. I can flat foot the tiger, whereas I can flat 1 foot and the other is ball of foot on this one . This is due to the shape of the seat. This bike is bloody aggressive and encourages you to wheelie etc. Not a beginner bike by any means! I chose the Sportster S instead because it doesn't give you that devil on your shoulders whispering: c'on, is this all you've got? Lol. Plus that riding position is very uncomfortable for me even compared to my previous z1000sx

I own this exact model FTR and it’s a cool bike. However, it does have its quirks. First is the fueling, it takes a while to fill up the tank due to a poor routed fuel neck. At lower speeds and gears it does jerk and surge which is my biggest gripe. It’s almost like it’s telling you, “I want to go fast and nothing more”. So city driving can get annoying. A PV3 tuner still has not smoothed it out. Next gripe, after about 30 mins of riding it gets HOT. The gas gauge is not very accurate. With a full tank it’ll say you have 143 miles. After a few miles it goes down to 101 miles, then a few more miles it’s at 90 miles. I ride almost every day, but I still have to fill up at least once a week. And that’s only going to work, which is only 10 miles away, one way. Overall, it’s a unique bike which is why I’ve kept it. I can stare at it all day. To me it’s a work of art but not a great driver.

The RZ350 was probably my favorite daily rider and really enjoyed seeing you review your old Duke 950 and Dave. I can find tons of new bike reviews but how about a first gen CBR900RR, or an RC51, first gen R1, Ducati 916, Kawasaki H1, 70's CB750, Suzuki Turbo XN85...so many that would be cool since there are no reviews for any in this medium. Maybe a new segment Retro Daily Rider. Been really enjoying your content!

@ragerider6283
@ragerider6283 3 года назад
@@cozzy6547 Sorry to burst your Harley bubble but the FTR IS far more market aware & progressive than the FXDR & actually quite different because it's attempting to emulate the very popular European nakeds with it's ergonomics & equipment etc while still retaining a unique American identity. Harley did a Harley version of a super naked with the FXDR but it was way off & didn't fit the US or European markets well, hence why it wasn't popular I would guess. It's heavier, less powerful, more expensive & has inferior components to the FTR so I'm not saying because it's an Indian, I'm saying because it's obvious.
@BladedAngel
@BladedAngel 2 года назад
@@ragerider6283 I own an FXDR and this comparison feels off. It is not a naked at all, was meant to be a Muscle Cruiser like the ol Night Rods were, it fits the niche fine. The New Sportster S is more of Harley's "Naked" and I say that with Air Quotes since that bike still has a plethora of issues. Main bonus, liquid cooled fantastic Revolution Twin...paired to an otherwise lackluster bike for the price combined with lack of market self awareness of who will be buying it. The Sportster S Needs more rear travel and height, needs closer front forks, needs thinner front tire, needs dual disc front..then it'll actually be a great bike in it's class and for the money. Missing out on one thing is fine, but 4 major things? Harley definitely still dropped the ball. If I didn't buy a Night Rod or my FXDR used, I don't think I'd really ever look at Harleys for the money. I've owned and ridden things from Honda Supercubs, to Royal Enfields, and Ninja ZX10Rs, but no other bike has me questioning the money I just spent other than Harleys. The Night Rod was a great bike, Porsche sure did a good job, like Hell I'm patting HD on the back for that one. The FXDR isn't a bad bike, but to say it's a worthy successor would be doing it too much justice...I've got mine to 160mph and yes it accelerates to 60 under 3 seconds, but then she runs out legs around 100 and falls flat on her face going north of 130mph. For $15K used? I love the FXDR. If I bought it new? Yeahhhhh rightttttttttttttttt. So I can see why Harley didn't move many of these off the New Dealership floors...

European A2 license restrictions say that the bike can't make more than 94hp (70kw) when unrestricted, so this bike would not be A2 legal even when restricted...unless they make a permanently power reduced version. BMW does this with the new F900R/XR which makes 100hp "naturally" and would otherwise disqualify an A2 version - they make a special A2 version which is permanently limited to 94hp and then of course 47hp when restricted. In that case of the BMW it's not as large of a power reduction, but paying full price for a "big bike" that is permanently reduced in power is just about as stupid as you can get in my opinion.

Its actually a very common problem on 09-14 R1's. Most people swap to a lithium ion battery and that helps.

The moment he mentioned the mirrors I looked at the one Zach gestured to with his left hand. I noticed the palm trees in the mirror and that just looked so vintage and picture perfect with the circular frame. The timing was great and that looked so cool.

Hey Zach, great review! Tunnel rev please!! 515lbs gtfo!! The mirrors are smooth from all the lead ballast they put somewhere... Rev for corvette guy 😝 it’s hard to bark through cats. Maybe some SC Project cans would bring out the bark wo breaking’ the law. It can legit compete with 120 hersprs?!? I Donut thinks so... loving the touch screen... it didn’t look like they updated the graphic of the bike... weak sauce. Sounds like you summed it up pretty well: not a performance naked bike. The dirt and the jump!!🤪 They’re picketing you not going full send!! FTR single is a neat trick! Thank you Zach!!

It seems like indian made a bike to suit any rider. I'm sure the aftermarket will accommodate the noise makers at the back. Big V-Twins are fun to ride in a smaller chassis. Not sure if the looks will grow on me but it appears to be a great bike.

Fuel economy and emissions tests are set for slower than real world speeds. Hence not the gearing some would like.

I want to really like this bike, but it just looks awkward, the massive radiator setup, the 2 huge mufflers. It looks like a mutated cruiser, not a flat track bike. IMO kind of a miss by Indian, who is otherwise cranking out great bike after great bike.

So much unnecessary tech. Especially the cylinder deactivation. Most people who mod their cars will deactivate that feature on their car.

I love the styling but don't need 1200ccs.. I'd love one under 500lbs and under 1 liter with a little more fuel capacity. Ideally 750-900cc and 475lbs or less

Indian needs to quit f****** around and make three full on dedicated sport bikes. One with this same engine but geared taller. One with an engine between 650 and 750 cc and one between 400 and 500cc. Then what they really need to do is underprice the entry level 400-500cc bike I'm talking like break even prices. That will draw new riders into the brand more than any multi million dollar marketing campaign ever could.

Bring a spare bottle of gas, hot as hell on the legs, fantastic bike that has V-twin low and heft, but eruo performance. Love mine! '19 OG FTR-S. 🥰

I’ve wondered about this bike. The local shop has had a 2019 ftr1200 for 2 years with out selling it they are asking 11500 it has 3700 miles. But like I’ve said same bike sitting for two years. I like the style and the power levels and I love big vtwin sport bikes but since it has sat there so long I just really didn’t know about it

Indian really missed an obvious opportunity to make a light weight flat tracker style bike closer to the race bike (which is a really cool high performance bike): 750cc engine 180kg (400lbs) weight minimalist styling especially get rid of the fugly mufflers affordable price Instead they built another overpriced , overweight fussy looking boring cruiser

Small fuel capacity sort of ruins otherwise great bikes. Stop messin' with my fuel range, ya moron manufacturers! Cruise control question, exactly as you said. It's there if you want to use it, absolutely not in the way if you don't. A ZX-10R or S1000RR superbike has a cruise control these days.

This is definitely not a pillion bike. Those footrests are too high. Even with the aviator seat, I wouldn't want to carry a pillion for any length of time. It's a rider's bike. As for the brakes, I find the bite fine. Nice and progressive. Handling is like it's on rails. I agree, this is very much a competitor in the European market. Harley had this with the Bronx but they bottled it, handing this segment to Indian who must be rubbing their hands in glee. On balance, probably the nicest bike I've ridden and owned.
