I'm a Star Wars fan so digging the gloss black/white combo Joe! Although I do think the body side molding running under the door windows is a tad extra. The more traditional kidney grilles are better than the ones on the M3/4. And I do agree body color wheel moldings would've been better than gloss black. Keep up the great videos!

NGL this is a nice BMW, but my pick is still the Alpina XB 7. That thing can go around a track better than any other SUV and gives you proper 3 row seating for 7. I would like to see you review the Alpina when you get the chance! 👍

BMW Junk cars with good Marking You buy a 60k car that breaks down after 30.000km, and after warranty ends all hell breaks loose. So you spend the rest of the time fixing something you can never rely on, with expensive parts, hard to fix engine layout, and the constant risk of a miserable self implosion. German engineering my ass. And for what? Because it "looks good (looks like every other BMW)".

Nice review. Awful design by BMW. I’m not liking the front, the extended trim on the side looks terrible. The lights look good, but the design is all over the place, no harmony at all. Chaos.

The XM is the most hideous looking vehicle BMW has ever come out with. It's also a huge flop in sales at dealerships. Most dealerships are still stuck with the initial 2 or 3 XM's that BMW forced them to take. I would choose the X5M any day. But it was a nice review you did on the XM.

You're right It does look like a storm trooper from the front. BMW logos on the rear glass is a huge zonk. That side black stripe is a bit Starsky and hutch lol. Great review as always

This thing is beautiful.. I remember back in the early 2010's when I thought the Toyota Tundra was the coolest truck.. and now it looks outdated. Now I think my 2019 Rav4 looks dope, but I wonder how it will age.. some designs are timeless, but some are not.

Definitely a polarized design. I personally think it looks cool. I just can’t justify the price difference between this one and a X5M.

I really like BMW but their latest designs are getting weirder and weirder looking especially in the front grill area, but in general this is a strange looking vehicle

I've always had a war in my brain on what to buy between bmw or audi coz the two companies are so much awesome with their production.

I def don't like the Storm Trooper look, and OMG, that has more piano black on it than the dash in an Acura MDX! I'm meh with the front end styling. That's where my bitching ends, well, except for the price! I just built one on BMW's website, for $180K, in Tulum Blue Metallic with 23" wheels. Frankly, I don't like any of the wheels offered. The 3D sound system, fiberoptic ambient lighting, seats and exhaust note is what sold me! That and the idea you could break-up kidney stones off the line! 😁😂😂😂👍🏻

I'm conflicted about the BMW XM. There are some aspects that I like. I like the stacked exhausts, taillights, and the sound. I also dig some of the interior details. I don't like how the surrounds on the kidney grilles light up at night. I find that to be such a stupid gimmick. I can't help but acknowledge the fact that the XM is kind of a slap in the face to BMW's heritage when you consider what it's trying to be. By looking at the two rear BMW logos, you can tell that the XM is technically supposed to be the successor to the BMW M1 supercar from the yonder years. It also doesn't help that the XM is a plug-in hybrid. I can see the XM being more of a powerful status symbol as opposed to a true M car. The XM is a very questionable vehicle overall and I'm actually curious to know what BMW was thinking when creating it.

You can just see all that magnificent German engineering mastery under that hood; the superiority of Benz/BMW/Audi when it comes to material/assembly/engineering quality is just unmatched---the Germans are the pinnacle. However, that price is otherworldly. $165K for this when an F-Pace SVR looks better, sounds better, gives you the same V8 magnificence, same ultra-quality leather/wood/interior, and may only take 2nd place in breadth of the infotainment tech (which few performance minded people will care about), and you get all that for $98K. Even if you are filthy rich, $67K in your pocket feels nice. I bought a fixer-upper house a few months ago for $130K....jeeze...

Steve: I am a fan of your car reviews. Since I actually own a 2023 BMW XM, I thought about giving you and your followers my feedback and opinion about the 2023 BMW XM. The BMW XM is NOT an entirely new vehicle, and it is not a true M car. The facts are as follows: The XM is built on the current BMW X7 platform, not the X5, therefore, the size and the wheelbase are very similar. BMW X7 has been around since 2018, thus the XM sits on an old body frame. Unlike real V8 M S-engines like M8, M5, X5M, or X6M, the XM only has 483 horsepower and 479 ft pound of torque while real BMW M S-engines have 617 horsepower. After about 40 miles, the XM 194 electric power dies so in reality the XM has only 483 HP. The BMW M550, X5 M50/M60, X6 M50/M60, X7 M50/M60, or M850 have 523-hour power, which is more than the XM 483 horsepower. The XM is well over 6,000 pounds, which is about 1,000 pounds heavier than X5M or X6M. Thus, your gas mileage is not all that great, and your 0-60 is not that impressive on an XM compared to X5M or X6M. Unlike real M cars, the XM does NOT have the real 19-inch M Performance Ventilated Perforated Lightweight Brake System. In your review, you said you can open or close the roof. That is not true. Unlike real M cars, the XM does NOT have a carbon fiber roof or a Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof. Instead, you get the cheap-looing fabric on the roof with an overactive LED light. As you reported, there are no fiber-optic lights in the car. Unlike regular M X3, X4, X5, X6, and X7, the XM does NOT come with real windows manual or electric sunshades. The XM is equipped with the decade-old style M steering Wheel, while the X1M, the new 7 Series, and the new 2024 5 Series are all equipped with the new style M Steering Wheel. The rear 4-Zone automatic climate control in the back has been around since 2018. Your new 5 and 7 Series have much better looking and functional rear climate control. The gear shift and the center console multi-media iDrive system is an old set and has been around since 2018, compared to the new X1, 7, and 5 Series. As for the iDrive 8, the curve display. That is pretty much on every new BMW. There is nothing special about it. All door switches are old-style and have been around for almost a decade. In short, XM has borrowed 95% of old technology and equipment and for the most part, it lacks many actual M components and performance. Yet the vehicle is priced from a base of $159,995 to $185,995. What is so disappointing is that even with these high prices, you still must pay an extra $3,400 for the B&W sound system. The XM is bulky, its handling is not all that great like real M cars, and has poor all-around visibility from the inside. Once you start analyzing XM, you realize that it is not all that special. The BMW marketing team deserves an A+ for showcasing such an old car as new. With these price ranges, you can get a much better car than XM. I bought mine at about a 30% discount ($47,995) because I paid cash for the car. I am a car collector, so I purchased it solely because I wanted to have one. I am not even sure it is going to have any value in the future. In my opinion, if you want to lease or purchase an XM because that is the only car you are going to have to drive, get a real M5, X5M, or X6M.

The most beautiful suv from BMW. Great engine sound, dashing looks and awesome style not just the exterior but interior too. Seats are cool, dash is pleasant. For me this XM is The King. Electric option makes it even more practical for those days when you are in quiet mode and wanna stay low a little bit. There is not a single thing which I didn't like about this mean machine. Perfect!!!!!!

For some reason, Everytime I see this odd Futuristic new BMW body style, I laugh at it, but that prototype body design will look better 10 yrs from now. I do like those machines and black wheels though. The prototype body designs seem to look a lot better with those type of wheels.

My local dealers can’t sell these ugly things to save their lives, the lots are full of them…they’re offering crazy incentives to try and offload them, sometimes up to 20-25k off sticker price Why would anyone buy this over an X5M or X6M?

Actually that’s false, not everyone is switching to EV. They’re being FORCED to do so. Believe me we don’t want EVs 😂

Great review Joe (& Steven) but the monster doesn’t appeal … even if affordable. I bet 70% of features go unused on the automobiles nowadays because people couldn’t be bothered navigating layers of menus. 💤

$165k got damn dollars…HOLY SHIT! I could buy 5 of my Honda Odysseys for that. 1 of these cars will buy someone a lifetime worth of brand new vehicles. Shit is mind blowing how much people spend on cars.
