Victor, you absolutely nailed every point about the Stradic. I purchased one several years ago and returned it for all of the reasons that you stated in your video. Got a Vanford instead and couldn’t be happier. I also have a new JDM Legalis which I absolutely love also.
I choose Stradic fm c2000s for ultralight fishing and i dont regret it...i want stronger and longer lasting reel, i dont care about that little inertia...i catch the same amount of fish like before, stradic will be the same after 10 years...vanford not. You fish on ultralight but somethimes if you fish for perch you can catch a big zander and in that moment i want stradic to be by my side...
I have both reels , and more like Cardiff, Vanquish...low inerția its a great feeling and increase the sensitivity special în hard condition like strong wind, strong water current..But You can catch fish whithout ..its just up to yours personal preferences...both type can catch fishe's...
You make a good case for the Vanford, and in terms of Ultralight fishing it's no doubt a better reel. But that doesn't mean the Stradic is a bad one for Ultralight usage. I tried both before purchasing and I went with the Stradic, it will last longer and you don't have to worry about dropping it in the water if you're unlucky and trip. It has much better ingress protection from mud/salt and dirt.
The difference between Stradic and Vanford was well explained. You want a bruiser reel that can handle heavy loads, go with the Stradic. If you wany finesse application Vanford. Carbon frame vs Aluminum. Magnum light rotor vs core solid rotor. If you dont like the raspy sound due to the carbon frame and dont want the extra weight from the aluminum. Then you step up to to the magnesium frame higher end reels
I mean theres benefits to having some inertia in spinning reels. That's why the Stella and Saltiga run metal rotors, purely to keep spinning in scenarios where a lure is being repetitively reeled in. The Stradic runs on a similar concept, where it will have alot of inertia but also will want to keep spinning. It is very much an viable option for ultralight anglers using certain methods of repetitive spinning. The japanese realize this, and add spools like the C2000S to the lineup. Not everything is about low weight and low inertia I guess.
Maybe if u said this to someone on the street... it sounds kind of coherent.. maybe it could fly.. But i'm the wrong person to tell these cool stories. Heavy rotor is absolutely nasty for ultralight fishing, all applications. The only benefit is strength, but i never broke a carbon rotor fighting a crappie. It is not a 'viable option', it is nonsense, as you spend 2-3 times more money than Legalis or Sahara, and you end up with a reel that feel much worse.
@@ifishcatfish We can't disrespect the fact that anglers around the world use all kinds of different methods to fish ultralight. For most light tackle fisherman, they will be buying the Vanford or a Legalis. But some will actually prefer the Stradic.
@@ifishcatfish Yes but the kind of fishing you describe sounds like ultra, ultralight fishing. You gotta remember the C2000S supports not only PE0.4 but PE0.8 which are two completely different worlds. Not everyone fishes freshwater like you, so to describe the Stradic in general as a 'horrible' ultralight reel to everyone seems quite incorrect. Again, there's many, many different applications for ultralight fishing and here in Australia, 6lb in saltwater fishing is still ultralight. And to various anglers around the world, the 2000 Stradic might be a perfect ultralight reel to them. My two cents.
@@jeffderiemacker4418 6lb braided line. If the Stradic is made for catching bigger fish, why does Shimano make a 2000 size. Again, I see many anglers in japan using these smaller Stradics in very specific ultralight applications. Unfortunately, the uploader can't consider anything outside of his freshwater fishing realm as 'ultralight'.
I specifically use my stradic 1000 for ultra light saltwater fishing. It does play in freshwater for vertical jigging sometimes but the reel doesn’t matter for that. Lol
Have the Stradic FL and a Vanford. And as you pointed out two different reels! But I must say my Stradic must of been made on a Tuesday when everyone was in a good mood and my Vanford was made on a Monday after a hard weekend. Stradic is just as smooth as when I got it and is on my creek/river tube setup that perhaps has seen a dunk or two. It balances nicely on my medium action Curado. Put the Vanford on one of my girlfriend’s setups and she likes it but noticeably noisier but lighter. Very nice explanation on the models Victor as always fine video! Have an awsome week and hope kids are having a great year in school!
I have two of the predecessor Stradics in the 1000 size. I loved using them for a year, so I bought the new one Victor is talking about in this video. I did NOT like it! It wasn't nearly as free spinning as the older models. I returned it after three outings / sessions. I had only been watching this channel for a month or so but happened to catch some of Victors videos about reels and saw him using the Vanford a few times. I ended up purchasing the Vanford 2000 shallow spool from Japan and it is awesome. The best reel I've ever owned. It's very light weight compared to the Stradics and just a real pleasure to use, and so much fun while playing the fish. Bottom line is, it's worth the extra $$$ to get the Vanford. The Stradic is designed to be a salt water reel, and is too heavy. On top of that, the new one is NOT even as smooth as the older one, even though it's supposed to be better than the older models.
I have vanquish & stradic fm 1000 when go out fishing i find something about both of this reel 😅 i catch more fish with stradic mybe becoz HG ratio high from vanquish, but for the light whole day casting i will choose vanquish if pair with japanese rod..startup reel better vanquish 😂
If you had to choose between the Shimano Ultegra or the Shimano Stradic, which one would you choose? I saw a video of yours in which you said that the Ultegra is almost the same as a Twin Power. It would help me a lot if you could tell me which one is better, since they are almost the same price. I think I would use a size 2500. I look forward to your response.
i dont know about other countrys but in Turkey there is a huge price difference between stradic and ultegra. if its the same for you guys go for ultegra. new ultegra its the 2019 stradic.
If you are talking about which reel to use then what type of baits will you be throwing? More plastics with light techniques then vanford. If you plan on cranking and throwing bigger baits then stradic. Does weight matter to you as well or start up inertia?
there is really no need for stradic for anything freshwater. A 2500 Sahara, Legalis or Vanford, maybe even Ultegra is more than enough. Also walleye is not know for strong fight or running into weeds like carp or something..
I never understood why it was so difficult for people to understand these two reels. One is for heavy duty use and the other is finesse. Yes you can use one or the other everything but it won't feel as good as using it for what it was intended for. From what I've come to understand is that a lot of the people who want to use the stradic for finesse applications just want to use it for the looks. At that point it seems like they already have their mindset on something so why not just do it? There is a significant difference between the two if you are picky, if you are not then it doesn't matter.
