I have a relative doing a camper / dayvan build and he's bought a 5kw heater. He's let me have it first to see if it's a 2kw or 8kw in disguise. 2kw heater from Amazon - amzn.to/2QgCAtq
I have a 5kw and a 8kw, both are identical in all ways (white powder coated all alloy shells, with chrome grill ). They both drink the same at max settings, which is 2 hours per liter of diesel, and both cycle back at the same maximum exchanger temperature (one controller will show it). So i think neither can be any more than 4 - 4.5 kw's at that max consumption, comparing to Eberspacher spec's. I have both set up side by side for testing, and Have run then flat out for hours on end, and burnt thru 30 liters so far between them, as i wanted to know how reliable they are. Only fault so far is one dead glowplug, which i got working again by twisting connections on it,
One guys saying 26 gals off fuel a month naa , been using mine for about 7 hrs a day for about 3 weeks used about 10 Ltrs of fuel 26 gals is a lot of fuel 😳and it’s a 5 kw , drinks like a budgie wea chapped lips 👄😆
Do you have the dimensions of the 2 and the five kw heaters in centimeters ? i bought one but with these chinese scammers you never know what you get hahahahaha
I figured as much too. Going on fuel consumption my "5kW" was running about 4kW max. I got in its head and cranked it right up but things got a wee bit too hot. Shit smelled hotter than seemed healthy and the plastic vent thing got all bent out of shape.Backed if off to 7.4 hz which I figure to be about just shy of 6kW, which suits my application thanks for your antics, fun to watch
I think the 8kw and the 5kw are the same, but the controller is set differently. Some sellers are not even putting stickers on. My 8kw just came in, and all looks fine. The fuel line and fittings are the desirable items.
Just bought a 5kw from amazon, received in time for someones crimbo present, looked at unit clearly marked on side as 4kw yet the same exterior dimensions as your 8 but with a even larger outlet diameter. But it has the older 1-4kw style controller, and the silencer it was advertised as coming with was missing also. If the silencer was present it might have been acceptable if the max fuel could be bumped up into the 5kw range, but omitting the silencer also is just taking the seller taking the p.
Dave, what are the optimal hertz and fan settings for a 2kw heater running on american diesel ? maybe the only difference in heater is the hertz and fan settings..
Hi David, thank you for such a great vid, it answered some burning questions I had! If I could ask some advise please, at this moment in time who would you reccomend as a suppiier? I have a LWB Sprinter van, would a 8KW heater be the best option? Many thanks Chris.
