This is my go-to knot when the leader is less than 20 lbs. For 20 lbs or more I like the FG, but if I am on the water and need to retie I go with the Alberto. If you want to make it stronger, I suggest, at the final phase, wrapping the tag end around the mono (or fluoro) loop two times before tightening. It locks in a little bit more.

HTG Captain! This knot is definitely the all-you-need-to-know knot for this and the only one I use. I used to use the FG, but then when I started fishing for Snapper around Grouper I would get broken off often. When I needed to retie more often this became the best knot around and is very strong and small enough to cast lures all day. And unlike the FG, this is a set-it-and-forget-it knot that needs no babysitting.

If you were getting broke off on FG you were possibly tying it wrong?
@longstrangejourney4776
@longstrangejourney4776 9 месяцев назад
@@TridentDriver it wasn't the FG Knot that fails. To entice a bite from a wary Mangrove Snapper you are using really light gear, like 10# braid and 15#/20# Flouro leader. They occupy the same environment as Grouper so it is inevitable that you will occasionally hook up with something that'll break you off. Usually it's the braid that breaks, not the FG. But if you have to retie often, as you do in that case, the Alberto is better. Then I found that the Alberto works well for inshore casting, so I just never benefitted from the FG after learning the Alberto

Happy Turkey Day Capt CA! I use that knot all the time. It's great for braid to mono too. The FG looks a lot more complicated and so I never learned it. The Alberto is how I tied mono line to mono leader for a long time so it was easy to learn for braid.

I use this almost exclusively and have caught a ton of fish on it. However, if you're using a longer leader that will travel through the guides, retie it at least 2-3 times during a full day of fishing. When I'm fishing a shakey head or finesse bait for bass on spinning gear, I use a 6-8 foot leader and it will slip loose after hours of casting. That's a good rule for all line to leader knots though. Don't get lazy or you'll regret it! Great stuff as always, Capt!

I will make 2 extra wraps through the loop at the end to avoid any slipping excellent knot.

Out of curiosity, why do you prefer the Modified Albright? And do you not think the Alberto needs "locking down" like the Modified Albright? Thanks!!

They talk a lot about how easy some of these knots go through the guides but really how often do you have a leader that long where that might be a issue. Great job on showing how to tie that one. I could see it pretty easy. Thanks C.A

When your casting the braid rubs in your finger and can wear out

@@C69hJc4people add extra leader so when casting braid won’t cut your finger or wear out from rubbing. Hence knot going through guide. More so with casting heavier lures or sinkers

What makes this better than an FG? Or a double uni?
@kingdomman5873
@kingdomman5873 9 месяцев назад
FG is stronger but this takes less time to tie on the water when the bite it hot. It's smaller so it goes through the guides better than the uni-uni.....probably even a little stronger.

I love it but Randy Blaukat says we should never do this LOL!!
@thomasneal7126
@thomasneal7126 18 дней назад
I am sorry but no he did not say you should never do this! he said the everyday fisherman (non pro) really does not need to do braid to leader to be a successful fisherman. His point being is that it adds a level complication (getting the knot tied correctly) and point of failure you don't have if you fish straight fluoro or mono. To be clear I am not a fan of Randy's, I disagree with his opinion on a lot of topics.

Trying to sell something
@C69hJc4
@C69hJc4 Месяц назад
It's called making a living. "Selling" by itself is not a problem. Any time you buy something, someone also sold it to you. Apple is selling. Tesla is selling. Medical companies "sell" life saving devices. Next time you get gas for your car, BP just sold you something. No one complains about getting "sold" great products that enhance their lives. People only complain when shady sales tactics dupes them into buying crappy products that don't work. Captain C.A.'s product is his amazing inshore fishing content--some of the best on RU-vid. RU-vid videos takes A LOT of effort and time. Most people don't know this. And he provides it to you completely free. So then how do you think he makes money for all that effort and time? Sponsorships and brand partnerships. C.A. is COMPLETLEY transparent about this and never tries to hide it. All you have to do while sitting on your coach watching all his hard work is endure a couple of seconds of him talking about his brand partners. The only other way to make money is via subscriptions, donations, and direct content (e.g. paid courses). Were you going to pay him $10/month to watch his videos?...........or $150 for a video course?.............I didn't think so. Nor would most other people that already have 50 subscriptions and a slim budget. I would, but most won't. Some channels can make this model work, but it's very rare. Hence, the brand ambassador & sponsorship model. It's the ONLY way to provide professional digital content for free if your trying to make a living. Otherwise, you just have a hobby channel that has inconsinent content and direction. P.S. Did you pay for the RU-vid app that your commenting on? Do you know how RU-vid makes money?..................I let you figure that one out on your own.
