The alembic pot head dome from Still Spirits, why would you want to buy it? Is it worth the money and really, what is the point of it? In this video I explain the main features, are as well as the down-sides of it. Should you buy one? Will it help you to create better spirit? What to find out more.

Just working on my sugar washes as I'm new. I have a T500 copper reflux with three 3-inch bubble plates and copper SPP. That gets me at 95% with a 20% wash. I am going to add a 1 ft section of SS and drop the stock packing in there for the next run to see if it can hit 95.6 It was so pure the last time I did not bother charcoal filtering after. The water split was the best mod I have done so far. Makes it so easy to control! Eventually going to get an alembic pot still lid as I want to make Soju Thanks for producing this content! Very informative

I've found the alembic dome more stable than the SS head. I have column extensions, running on the floor in my basement, so without some sort of bracing, the SS lid caused me some concern. Pair the dome with a weldless triclamp bulkhead, and you make it modularized for very easy column switch outs.

Hi. I think the copper dome may be stronger as you say due to how much the dome has been pushed out. The steel lid only has a slight curve, so would not be as strong. I use both lids on my extended T500 column, and have never had no issues. But, it used to worry my that the standard stainless steel lid would cave in.

Thanks for the contextual info, I also have a few lids, owning a G/father & a still spirits boiler, you are spot on with your cats, kids, ceiling height reasoning, a lidl / aldi castor wheeled plant pot support also helps out with set up scenarios in the less critical stages of GF / boiler use & should be considered by anyone eyeing up either system.
