I was privileged to work at Aston Martin between 1996 and 2007. So DB7 at Bloxham in Oxfordshire, Vanquish at Newport Pagnell in Buckinghamshire, and DB9 and, Vantage at Gaydon in Warwickshire from 2003 onwards until I retired in 2007. Amazing times, amazing people, amazing cars, amazing growth from 59 odd cars a year in 1995 to 17,000 + in 2006. Then I retired and the whole world fell apart in 2007 😂😂 Love your passion for the cars both obviously outstanding in their own way. Classy in every way.
Hi Brian, Thank you for watching my video. You have had a blessed life to have the privilege to work at Aston Martin through all these years... It's hard not to develop a passion for these cars considering the work of art that they are. As I have said before, these cars are a treat for all the senses. If a suit doesn't make the man, an Aston Martin will definitely inspire one to be the best that he/she can be. Going back to your message, it is shocking that Aston Martin first started out with such a low production run. It makes sense when you consider these cars are handmade...
@@ValEuroSport and I worked at Jaguar for 10 years before that ha ha. From 1986 to 1996 from when Jaguar was stand alone, to see the massive changes and exciting times when it was bought by Ford in 1989. I was actually involved at the early stages of the X100 during my final year at Jaguar.
You are so privileged to have worked at both Jaguar and Aston Martin (my favorite british car makes). I would love to hear more about your experience at Jaguar and how Ford impacted the company culture, once they acquired Jaguar.
@@ValEuroSport Ha, ha yes I do feel pretty lucky tbh. What's the best way to directly contact you by email? My stories could be quite lengthy. I learnt so much during that period.
Hi Brian, Sorry for the delay... I reserved one day a week, Sunday, as the day to engage my RU-vid audience. Feel free to email me at info@valeurosport.com. It would be an honor to exchange ideas, stories, and experiences with someone as privileged as you, having worked at two of my most admired automobile companies.
might wanna rehearse it first, THEN have the video guy film it...disorganized presentation;wanted so much to see the differences, but had to turn it off after 5 minutes
DB9 all day long, I found my 4.3 vantage very underpowered after living with a tuned SL55 and no way could I live with that poor torque. Only reason I'm FASTAMV was because I had it supercharged, but in stock form the 4.3 is just too slow.
I agree. I have been driving a 2006 Aston Martin DB9 with a 6sp manual transmission as part of our comparison vs a 2007 Bentley Continental. It wasn't fair pitting the Vantage against the DB9 LOL. Stay tuned for our next video!
I had an 09 V8V a few years back and although it was a fun car (and sounded amazing) it just can't compete with my 08 DB9. The V12 oddly enough is SO much easier to work on. And the infamous clutch issues with the Vantage don't exist with the DB. It just goes and goes. Excellent car.
I somewhat agree. The DB9 is truly a gentleman's car. It's more mature and thus has a bigger bark ;-) Expensive as heck to work on it. Had to replace brake rotors and pads in addition to all coils and plugs plus the intake gasket at 32k miles. Don't ask me how much that cost!
@@ValEuroSport How much did it cost? Sorry... I asked! (I'm interested in getting one myself and I want to be realistic about the potential wallet damage)
I get what you are saying about the coupes. I realize they are more beautiful and they have better flowing lines. I do prefer the convertibles, though. There is nothing like dropping the top on a cool evening and letting this tiger roarrrrr !
Depends if you want a sports car or a GT. I got a Vantage because I wanted a smaller car so I can throw it around a bit more than the DB9 is capable of.
Both gorgeous cars, great build quality, the best interiors with an incredible chassis and a sound that will make the hairs standup on the back of your head. Choosing between these two is like choosing between Margot Robbie and Scarlett Johannson !
Nice review....I have the 2014 DB9.2.....LOVE LOVE LOVE her. ...I named her Audrey...(after Audrey Hepburn, so beautiful)...can't go wrong either way though
Hard to put into words how awful this video was. Camera darting around, very little comparison of the vehicles, and mostly all of the guy talking...And no opinion anyway (not that I would particularly give it much weight after this video) Keep the day job mate.
Many thanks for the scintillating review. I think you should drop whatever else you are doing and take up a career in reviewing YT videos! After you obliterate the poor yobbos who dared to insult your artistic sensibilities, you can eventually branch out into the Broadway shows ! The sky is the limit! I admit it though, the video in question is rubbish. The producer no longer works for me, in large measure due to this last video. I would like to invite you to view the latest videos we posted. I dare to hope you may enjoy them a little more... My sincere regards, Valentin
@@ValEuroSport Oh, I would if I thought I could monetize it...:--) and will accept your challenge to watch more. It really was a shame the video was rubbish since it was exactly what I was looking for. I'm leaning towards getting the DB9 btw.
The DB9 is a more sensible choice if you have a couple of young kids you would like to bring on a ride around town. It is a 4 seater after all, as opposed to the Vantage which is mainly targeted towards the young professional, or the young at heart in a mid life crisis ;-)
Your prayer has been answered! I have a 2007 Aston Martin DB9 Volante in dark blue over tan interior with 35k miles. I plan to do another video comparison between it and a 2012 Maserati Gran Cabrio in Rosso Trionfale over Cuoio. Stay tuned!
I made that decision last year. Decided the DB9 (MY2013) rather than Vantage 4.7litre (MY2014). Just has the edgeon beauty in my opinion, but both beautiful cars. Different propositions though.
Hi Richard, I agree with you. They are mostly the same car only with minor styling differences, aside from the engine size and the extra space in the DB9. It depends very much on what you are looking for. For sheer "look at me" factor, Vantage is the choice. That race car sound at engine speeds past 4000 RPM is insane ! Notice the Vantage is geared towards sport. It defaults into sport mode. You have to press the "Comfort" button if you don't like a sporty ride. The DB9 is opposite: You have to press the Sport button to leave the "Comfort" default setting. That's true at least for 07-08 model years. I don't know about the newer models.
@@ValEuroSport That's right. DB9 is about comfort first, then you choose whether to firm things up a bit. There's also a Race setting on the adaptive dampers on the MY13 DB9, but no need really. The surprising thing is how fast you end up going, without realising, because you just want to hear that V12 sing!
