I started my life in the 'verse in an Aurora LN and flew it for a bit less than a year. I have fond memories of using it and usually buy one in game when I have the disposable income.
Funfact, almost all ground vehicles and non-QT ships come with an Aurora MR loaner, so you'll always have an option for getting around. Also means you're getting an Aurora regardless of your decisions lol.

Does anyone remember the Storall BigBox or something, some large external cargo container custom fit to the Aurora? It was featured in some ship ad video ages ago. Did they say if it ever makes it ingame or was the idea just scrapped?
If it was marketing material from years ago, all bets are off hahahah. What I do know is that there are 1, 2, 4, and 8 SCU StorAll containers that function the same as other cargo, and those could be loaded underneath it.

Prior to the rework starting with 3.23/ master modes, the Aurora MR was a deceptively good fighter in space when fitted with 4 weapons that had good maneuverability and speed combined with a small head on profile. Since the rework beginning with 3.23/ master modes, it's speed and maneuverability in space has it in a profile more fitting of a starter ship.
I really like your style of presenting information. Would you consider a deep dive into missile mechanics and comparisons? Seems to be particularly relevant nowadays, since we just got another missile centric ship, and even the ones we had have a fair amount of space for them, despite being pretty under-utilized from what i've seen.
They actually perform similarly and the Mustang has a larger hit profile. It's hard to say, really...they're both low-end starter ships. You'd expect the Mustang to be a lot faster and nimbler, but by the numbers it's really not :-/.
I have a caterpillar, this gives me a buccaneer to fly as well. I dont like flying out with the caterpillar on missions, but also feel the buccaneer is a bit inappropriate for most beginner missions, as it doesnt have storage etc, and isnt the easiest to learn how flight combat in. What ship do you recommend i should (ingame) save for to do missions etc. Just the avenger?
Avenger Titan is great all around, yes, but it can also depend on what you're doing. For any ground missions it's perfect. Once you get beyond MRT/HRT space bounties, you're going to have trouble taking things down in a timely fashion. And obviously anything that involves cargo is going to be out of its reach. Buccaneer is a fine stand-in for bunker and other ground missions in the meantime if that's your focus though! Still has that interceptor ability to get in and get out quick.
got a question, if you dont mind, why the omnisky 3 over the attrition 1? i feel its better, but since im not that knowledgable about meta and whatnot im confused
Sure! Attritions are repeaters but have a very low fire rate and higher damage to hit for a repeater, and a very low projectile speed, which places it in practice near to laser cannons. However they're extremely inefficient in the power they use, and ultimately still aren't as powerful or accurate as a cannon. They're just in a very strange place and are probably the least worth it out of all the ship energy weapons. Something I think is notable about the Aurora series is that they fit into larger ships such as the Carrack or Hercules, so if you are playing with a friend that has a larger ship the Aurora MR might be the ship to pick over the Mustang Alpha since you will be able to park your ship inside of their ship
I upgraded my Aurora ES referral bonus to a LX - why you ask ? I have other ships but the LX is small and cheap, has a bigger than average quantum tank, and even has an in-built jump drive! Plus its the stealthiest Aurora in game with regards to Cross Section ( which you can do nothing to reduce unlike EM and IR) at around 5KM for EM,IR and CS.
@@UniversityofStanton A jump drive fits on top of a quantum drive and is used to jump between systems e.g. going to Pyro when 4.0 comes out later this year.
In 3.23 the Aurora LX has severely nerfed flight performance vs the other Auroras, unfortunately. It's the worst handling Aurora by far (check on spviewer)
@@NozomuYume The LX still is the stealthiest Aurora, It still is the only one with a jump drive as default i.e. it can go to Pyro in its default loadout, it still has the most quantum fuel of all auroras. As for dogfighting in an Aurora i'll use one of my other ships anyway. As a cheap,, stealthy, jump capable ship with an extended quantum range the LX is the best in game in its price range by far and i respect how capable it is.
Optimal build for best acceleration/handling via weight reduction. 1X Slipstream power plant (fastest power response, would use LumaCore but not enough power), 2X Jaghte shields, 1X Foxfire quantum drive, 1X ZeroRush cooler (leave other slot empty to save weight and power). Remove Varipuck gimbals and mount guns fixed (4 varipuck S1s weigh 200kg in total).
@@UniversityofStanton Yes! Use the G meter on the HUD to test boosted/non-boosted acceleration. The improvements vary depending on how light the ship's hull is. For instance on the Archimedes a combat loadout with Lumacore, Jaghte, single ZeroRush, and gimbals removed yields a 6% weight reduction from stock, which is absolutely noticeable even without using the G meter. Previously I would not advise using the Jaghte but since they have the same shield strength now, there is no harm in getting the free mass reduction.
Other ships that benefit greatly from Lumacore+Jaghte+Foxfire+single ZeroRush+gimbal removal are M50 Interceptor, Razor, and Fury. (Fury barely works with Lumacore with gimbals removed and one cooler, but might want to use Slipstream on it for margin). Missiles count too. You can get better performance by omitting missile racks entirely, or at least firing off your missiles at the beginning of the engagement.

@UniversityofStanton you definitely have an opportunity to do something unique! Maybe instead of just the hawk you can test all EMPs side by side testing range, effectiveness, charge time, affects on different shields/size ships ect
