You see ... I use the Behringer Flow 8 about as often as I eat jam donuts ... which is less than you might think ... especially given I really like them both. A lot. Let me explain.
I abuse and use this little mixer at least 3 days a week for solo shows and have started using it for 3 and 4 piece groups. Had it for just over 2 years still going strong with no issues. Love it!
If you hold the Menu button down for several seconds, it will power down the mixer, kind of. That’s the make shift power button. Didn’t know if you knew that. ☺️😉
I ordered mine from Amazon January 2021 at a very good discount even though I waited about 5 months for it! So, like you, I think it is great value and really handy. I utilize a battery bank to run it as there is no power outlet near where I use it most. I've never had the noise when I've turned it on. I think it's a great piece of kit. A fair review!
9:32 It can also be controlled via MIDI sent over this USB-B connection. So if you need it for some purpose, you can use some MIDI host device and assign some faders to the MIDI controller for quick control, panning or fx-sends for example.
I have one and love it. Also works well for a some multitrack recording. Its a little limiting because only 2 inputs have phantom power but ive recorded an acoustic drum kit with it using 4 mics
May I ask a question? (hopefully yes) I have to do multitrack recording, and for that I use reaper and I'm confident that it works as expected. (In1 to in8 as input channels on daw) but also.. I need to do some recordigs live on the go using a software like "voice note" so that when I hit stop I get an mp3 file named by datehour. My question is: can I use Main out 1 & 2 as input for windows? Is this kind of usage what is intended by streaming mode? Is difficoult to switch from one to another mode?
Enabling Bluetooth will allow the app to be location aware (based on other Bluetooth devices it sees). Therefore, Location Awareness needs to be enabled for all apps that use Bluetooth. It's irritating an non-intuitive, but I think it was named this way in Android because, if it was just called "Bluetooth awareness", many people would not understand the side effect that this provides (some) location awareness to the app.
Hello, thank you for this review! 8:15 I don't have any problems with it, even after using the mixer almost every day for 2 years. I think it could be a power problem or a manufacturing defect. I've almost always used the complete power supply, sometimes plugged into a power bank, but I've never seen such noises.
Thanks for this overview helped me get over my impulsive feelinge to buy this… the power supply on micro usb major red flag for me especially woth my other small behringer mixer which powersupply problems already thank u
Really helpfull video 😮. Thanks! I wanna buy One for My work. That is performing in weddings, reunions, etc. Do you think the flow 8 is the right mixer for that?
Mine isn’t set up just now but I want to say the ‘library’ snapshots are stored in the app and more or less unlimited in number while the ‘mixer snapshots’ are stored in the mixer, limited to 12-15-ish but recallable from the menu without the app.
That was a fantastic review, not holding back from detailed cons and pros. You are rare! That USB-B power-source thing has probably put me off buying it tbh... what a shame because almost everything else about it sounds great. And the labels wearing off so quickly (!). How depressing - surely that can't be hard for a manufacturer to get right. Thank you.
Thanks for your kind words. Hey the USB B thing is just for data ... It's the micro USB used for power that those on FB forums are saying can give problems (gee I hope I said that in the vid!) some people have been missing their units and replace it with a barrel connector - something I am very tempted to do.
I own one of these and I think it’s main selling point was that it had two monitors outputs which I struggled to find on any other mixers of that size. The digital aspect is brilliant especially as you mix your audio from FOH. My main two uses are smaller acoustic sets and as a back up mixer for my X Air as it’s compact so easily to bring along. I have run my whole band throughout when it was needed and it handled it no problems. I bought it on its initial release so got it at the earlier price. I always use the app to set up up although generally it does recall the previous mix and then just use the faders for small adjustments throughout the gig if needed. As an X Air user having the faders on hand if you needs them if very reassuring.
- FX1 has a variety of reverb effects. - FX2 has a variety of echo and other time based effects. - TAP button lets you set the tempo of FX2 effects by tapping three or four times. - When you select FX2 or FX2, the sliders and the main volume knob change meaning to control the effect on each channel, and the total amount of effects. - You can also control FX with the cellphone app. - I think the flow 8 would be great for home karaoke because it's easy to use. - Aside from the graphic equalizers on each channel and on the main output, another bonus is you can set an output delay to eliminate most feedback. I keep mine at 25ms.
@@seemovielove3597 Yes FX1 and FX2 are on a Flow 8. You press the FX1 button and adjust the slider to get the amount of reverb you want. Then you press FX2 and use the same slider to adjust the amount of echo you want. Then you press MAIN and use the same slider to adjust the microphone level like normal. Easy peasey.
great video! I am looking at this mixer but I can't find any info if it can multitrack using an iphone... can you confirm if it can record multitrack using iphone and garageband app?
hi well I don't understand is this just a sound card and you need to put a headphone studio to hear the sound ? or when you plug the mic to the mixer all the sound comes from the mixer like we were on live and it's audible for everyone ?
I mean you should have a hands on to check for yourself ... Don't take my word for it :) The app is only an interface to the main unit so all changes are received on the main unit, not left on the phone
@@psmusic_handle ah thanks alot for the response man! already bought the tascam model 12 after alot of research. appreciate the help tho! love your video's
We have problems with out flow 8. First it switched of all audio for a few seconds if my headphone was to loud. Now it switches of the audio even without having headphones plugged in. Shuts of all signals for a few seconds. Can't use it that way. Then it opens the audio again. Anyone any ideas?
I'm not sure if this will be useful, but join the Facebook group and ask there. Or search that group for an answer - I find FB groups for products super useful.
10:00 "...there's no "off" switch... how much does that save...": Actually, there is. Hold MENU down for about three seconds and it powers off. MENU button dims. Tap it and it powers back on. I found that by seeing a comment complaining about that suggesting it was a bug. Go figure. BTW: Behringer has the worst documentation I think I have ever experienced. It may be just because of the COIK. What is COIK you ask? Clear Only If Known. But that doesn't cover "never mentioned". And it would be helpful to know what they were thinking when they implement things... like SOLO and MUTE.
Yeah a few people have pointed this out ... And I am glad because I really didn't know. But it's not quite an off switch ... It's a standby mode ... Not quite the same thing. Still I appreciate you taking the time ... I'm just being pedantic :)
