I think that the chupacabra is just a subspecies of coyote. like, cats have evolved to have no fur (I think by a mutation) maybe a coyote wound up with a mange-like mutation/disease, bred, passed it on and made this "chupacabra". There are other animals, like some birds and bats, that drink blood, so maybe they evolved to drink the blood of their prey during droughts, or whenever it was easier than finding water

so my parents didn't just make this up to scare me

Fun fact: Chupacabra means "goat sucker" because when it was first spotted it was spotted next to a goat with all of its blood drained out hence the name

Most chupacabra sightings or photos are just a coyote with severe mange. I think I only saw one photo of the "chupacabra" that I couldn't quite debunk.

Btw the first ever sitting of that animal was 11 years ago in a documentary I don’t remember what…but I was watching it with my mom they interviewed a lady and she said she had heard a commotion got outside shoot it with a rifle and took it’s dead body to a vet it’s in Texas ( it was on TV)

Me and my 20 years old cousin saw something in croatia near a city named Pula.When we were going to a store near our camping, we saw an old like farm ruins surrounded by a wall but there was a gate through which we saw what looked like two dogs but unnaturally tall, emaciated, one of them was brown but the other one like lighter brown. They were as tall as something about a donkey. There were 2 of them and they were slowly heading towards the other side behind the wall. To this day we don't know what they were, we think it resembled a chupacabra but at first we said it jokingly but after a long thought we really have no idea what it could be. These events took place in 2021 while on vacation, but in 2023 while on vacation we returned to the same place but we couldn't find the farm again. When we saw these two beings, we were driving a car and we saw them for a very short time, but we remembered some details in our brain, such as those mentioned earlier. To this day, we have no idea what it could have been and it still puzzles us.

Only Mexicans know this story since birth.

I think a Chupacabra is pretty much just an emaciated, mangy coyote/wolf hybrid. At first, I thought it was mainly coyote, but they don't have blue eyes. So there has to be some kind of wolf in it, too
