Its great that I got the 400 like 3 years ago and abandoned it in my room after 4 months, now I finally got the interest back and start praticing on that bad boy again. Knowing that the the 400 could only be found on ebay with this price is such a relief for me.
I only Dj on twitch but I personally love the modern aesthetic, touch, and feel of the flx4. I find it does all I need it to do, although I do miss the reloop button from the ddj400 that goes back to your previous set loop. Also for some reason I'm unable to set FX to master/both decks, just one at a time even at the 1&2 switch. Not sure if that's a bug or not
As a sound guy, promoter and a long history of djing, feel that the twitch has extremely low output? Anytime a performer shows up with one, it never sounds good no matter how much I boost it. I actually haven't seen one in a while. For my events, I stopped booking people that used any controller that is USB powered
@@djbrotherelectric this is because the compressed mp3 format is used i have been using vav and flac for 12 years now thanks dizer and tidal, if the computer is windows and the program is a tractor, by default there is a limiter -6db it needs to be turned off, there is also a master output volume level, but not in the application but in windows itself, I use google translator I hope you understand
oh dont you get copyright striked im learning to dj mostly detroit electro and tech house and would be fun to do on twitch but i thought you get a strike for playing music
it's the strip down version of the SRT-1000, and so good for travel & portability while keeping you in tune with your larger setup if you have both, as I do, and love it.
Oh! If you want, you can check out the fuller videos on the channel so you have more choices and ideas. My Best DJ Gear for 2023 video should showcase more!
DDJ-400 + XONE K2, both with solid USB-B connectors! A portable setup that with a custom mapping, allow 4-decks control with full FX-bus controls. With the ability to layer (up to) 3 FX's on the 2 FX buses and independently assign them to a deck, something you can't do with more expensive DJM hardware setup.
Probably good for producers who want to learn to dj, getting it to perform home sets so if I do mess up nothing really to worry about vs being on stage live
I love my FLX4 but Pioneer really need to release some firmware updates ASAP. My play/pause buttons stop working constantly, and even my shift + beat sync button (I have it custom mapped to set the beginning of the beat grid) stopped working once. This is all using DJay Pro, which is not gig ready by any means, but it's the controller's issue because my DDJ-200 worked flawlessly with DJay Pro. Still think the FLX-4 is the best because it supports Serato which will have stems like DJay Pro soon. Stems in a gig ready software like Serato is a game changer for hobbyist/small party DJs like me.
Hey, comments section. So I have the DDJ-400 and I'm looking to upgrade to a 4 channel system for my local DJ services. Does anyone know any good controllers that won't cost a fortune?
@@djcarlo it feels pretty solid, it's nice and light, it has really outs, the pads feel are nice and responsive. I opted for it because I run the Mackie pro fx 10 audio mixer to run my speakers and monitor off of so I didn't need the high end personally. Also with it being cheaper than the high end allowed me to put that saved money elsewhere.
What does it mean that the flx 4 comes with rekordbox and serato lite. (I know that that are programs for music) but is the flx 4 just compatible with both and the other not with rekordbox.
shame they didn't keep the usb-b and introduce the usb-c as a secondary/phone connection option... But still, looks like a decent successor to the 400, but still... will hold off upgraded my 200 until the bugs are fixed I think, particularly with the android side of the Rekordbox App
Hi! What would you recommend to someone who is TOTALLY new to DJing wanting to play Techno generally? Is it FLX4 again? I feel close to Platinum FX as well..
Does it work with Serato DJ Pro? My Rane 4 had a malfunction with the 2nd and 4th channel. I am not getting any audio. So I just need a backup controller until I get it a new one or repaired.
Yes, when I heard about dj ddj flx 4 and the smart cfx feature, I thought that I am the one who sets the effects, but on the contrary, it comes ready. flx 4 Although I use this testicle, but it does not perform the required work. The second is the Bluetooth connection feature. Oh man, what is the use of this feature because you will not use it unless you forget the USB cable. Oh man, will the person who forgot this cable remember the POWER cable? I'm just telling you my opinion, and I don't know, maybe some will disagree with me, and maybe they'll think I'm crazy 😅😅😅
Carlo! The FLX4 also come with Serato DJ Lite. Ok, there is a Rekordbox dj as well. My fav (in this time) is Hercules 500. Its also inculding a full version of DJ software. (Is it poor??) I accept your opinion, but it needs clarification! Thanks man, you are great! 😉
@@djcarlo You're absolutely right, I had a short play with Lite when I bought my first SB3 and while it did what advertised, I quickly ran into shortcomings like only 4 cue points or locked pad modes, no slip mode, no key analysis... I ran a paid Pro subscription for a year before I switched to SX3 (then I switched to hardware unlock), honestly it would be hard to go back to Lite. Guess I've gotten spoiled by all the extra features and possibilities Pro gives you :)
Doesn't the flx4 also come with Serato DJ Lite? The only thing you had bad to say about the Platinum FX was that it comes with the Lite version of Serato DJ?
I want to travel and I have the rx3 which is 20lbs .I want to prepare for a large event but will the flx 4 prepare me for professional cdj controllers?
Oof the dj at the beginning of the video. What happened to the controller exactly? Did it get unplugged or did he break his own gear like Srillex broke the festival dj gear during his live performance?
I got myself an upgrade from ddj400 to xdj rx1, and the standalone was my reason, and Mandy effects on it IS awesome, and got it 850€ so great affair i think
@DJ Carlo iv been practicing in my house for about 2 years now and love every minute of it on friday nights when i set up in my kitchen haha, also di you find Djuiced was terrible compared to serato? Visually Djuiced looks better but serato has better functionality.
Is there a particular reason it shut off at the show? This is really the only thing holding me back from buying it. Any help would be much appreciated.
Go for the stand-alone controllers with center touch screen instead of using a remote laptop or screen to visualize the waves and to line-up the tracks. Nothing beats having your audience directly above the screen. The RX3 at $2000 is still cheaper than 2 CDJ500's and a DJM500. Still cheaper than a RodecMX180 + 2 SL12000 turntables. Equipment costs money. XLR outputs are crucial. Stop buying that entry stuff and commit to real gear. We've all had belt-drive turntables blow it's fuse from scratching. we've all had open headphones with copper cables. Buy a Sennheiser HD25pro. Buy some real equipment. Seriously.
The downside to the other controllers you quote as having “Serato lite”, but you also said this has Serato lite. So is this on par worth the the other ones mentioned or what makes the flx better? Thank you for the advice 🙏
@@djcarlo thank you so much for the advice Carlo! I watched some of your other videos and they have helped me understand this product and some of the softwares better. Much love ❤️ 🙏
Are there any problems with sound when using ddj in a club? CDJ's sound output is bigger than DDJ's, so I know that only CDJ's are used in clubs. Is this correct?
It depends on the speakers and the outputs! Club grade mixers usually use XLR or PL cables (which only one controller here in this stack have), but I've never really had any real issues with using controllers like this in a club in terms of output
I'd honestly recommend the FLX4. It's got some great features, and it's very budget friendly for an entry level DJ. The FLX6 GT is a cosmetic upgrade form the FLX6, but with added Traktor compatibility, but you can check out my review of the FLX6 to see my full thoughts on it
Hi, i could get the DJ 400 for around 250 Euros in used conditon (but really good almost new conditionn) The FLX4 for 301 Euros (new) im a total beginner would the new features of the FLX4 Help or is that just a gimmick that isnt needed? i also like the desing of the DJ400 more looks more premium to me
Hey man i just got mine delivered and realized my beat making desk is too crowded and there’s no space for it, what DJ table do you recommend? I just need something simple for the controller and laptop that won’t break my back from bending down for so long
I'd recommend getting a standing table, so you can adjust the height (normal tables will break your back). Just check your local sellers! You should be able to find one easily
@@djcarlo can you maybe try it? i think it is a good dj controll. because it has a lot more features then a DDj-FLX4 and in my country it is cheaper then the FLX4. the only disappointment is that it comes with Serato Intro . but it has a button on each deck to change to the next sequence of decks. so you technically have 4 decks instead of 2.
Check my Best DJ Gear videos for an idea based on the features of each controller. Likewise, the full FLX4 review has a more detailed breakdown for the controllers
I have never had a problem with the type c but the only problen i find the flx4 doesn't have any drivers which is anoying but it fine i guess would be bettet if the flx4 had booth rca outputs like the flx 6
I've yet to encounter driver issues with the FLX4, but I do wish that it did have a booth out. Controllers in that range usually don't though, but one can dream haha
i disagree i think the ddj flx 4 is a great controller dont get me wrong it is worth it but i would recomend going with the ddj flx6 because you have more freedom with it i think 4 deck controllers are much easier to you then 2 deck i used a 4 deck controller before but never owned one it is easier to use a 4 deck controller then use a 2 deck controller i have a few 2 deck controllers but i want my first 4 deck controller and im getting the flx 6 when i have enough money
Thanks for being honest Brentton! The FLX6 GT is definitely an upgrade from the FLX4. I do wonder how Pioneer will integrate the Smart functions though
My sb3 took her last breath about a week ago . I bought the flx4, I hope it lives up to the expectations cause after the sb3, it's gonna have to be nearly perfect in order to satisfy me
Ok. I live in China and the FLX4 and DDJ 400 are both available. DDJ 400 is going for about 250 bucks. A tad cheaper than the FLX4. So if the price is equal, would you lean DDJ 400?
Well, this video came out a month before the FLX10 was released (and the full video even before that!), so the secondhand FLX10 market literally did not exist yet at the time haha
You can't really compare the 2 as they have somewhat different functions and features. I'd say T7 if you like scratching, and the FLX4 for more straight mixing
Haha what happened to you mixer live do you know I suppose its not really ment for clubs , I am debating to get a rx3 or possibly a denon prime 4 I've gotta get external inputs for a turntable not like anyone cares am just so eager to have a all in 1 system without a laptop
im still deep diving my ddj 400 potential tho 😅 untill i found myself in conclution, if i wanna upgrade from ddj 400 i need a 4 channel controller or standalone controller.
