Just bought an ego self propelled mower. And honestly it feels like a plastic toy. Lol but I must say it's a beast! I was highly impressed. My neighbors I'm sure think I'm crazy lol. But it's light weight, quiet and basically maintenance free. And I'm definitely going to purchasing a blower very soon. If you don't have an EGO I highly recommend yall get one!
Happy with my Ego 580 cfm blower and Ego grass trimmer. Use the same battery and although heavier than my Stihl blower and trimmer much easier on the ears for myself and neighbours. Use battery or gas units according to size of job and application. Works great for clearing deck and gutters of leaves as well as clearing snow off car and deck in winter. I use low setting to get charcoal going quicker on my Kamado grill.
Great review as always JB! I have the Ego leaf blower, grass edger and trimmer. I have 2 batteries so one is always charged. The leaf blower works great! I even use it to clear that petty inch or so light snow off the driveway or car in the winter. After 3 years they still work great. Have a great weekend neighbor!
Thanks for sharing this Jay! This is good info here! How is the original battery holding up. Still lasting as long on a full charge? This might be our last hot weekend my friend! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
I get about 30-40 minutes not using the turbo boost but I tend to use the boost a lot. Battery doesn't last as long in the winter. I do store them indoors when it gets cold outside. You're right about the weather...ugh!
I got kinda burned with the one battery equipped tool I have. Several years ago I bought a 58v Poulan Pro push mower...now, it works fine and the battery reminds me a lot of that Ego's and even sounds the same on the charger. What burned me is, while the 58 volt battery works fine and is a 5.2ah battery, Husqvarna apparently stopped making different piece of equipment to use it with. I've tried looking for string trimmers, leaf blowers, etc. that use that battery and every site I've been to say they no longer carry it....and that's when I started buying gas powered Stihl equipment, LOL! Just last week I mowed the front lawn with it while I waited for Amazon to send me a new Nikki carburetor for my riding mower (Yeah, I could have rebuilt the old carb, but new carbs are fairly inexpensive so I got lazy, lol) It had plenty of battery power to mow the whole front yard and most of one side yard before it needed recharging so naturally I'd like to try it out on a blower or trimmer, they just can't be found...not even used, lol.
I love your enthusiasm. I hate mfgs that fudge stats to market their products. That's a red flag for me to stay away or exercise caution. Your vids are invaluable!! Thank you brother
Hey Inharmony! I don’t like it when companies fudge the numbers either to make something look better than what it normally is. I agree on the red flag! Appreciate the positive feedback my friend! Thanks for being a cool fan!
JB.....let me tell you a true story. A elderly woman passed away. Her family needed help cleaning out her garage and storage shed. I found SEVEN HIGH DOLLAR GRASS TRIMMERS during the clean out. (I took all seven to the pawn shop and gave the family the money...difficult story.) I asked the family WHY did she have all these HIGH DOLLAR GRASS TRIMMERS? Her niece told me the "handyman/gardener" told her the line ran out and she needed to buy a new one.😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡...I am still P.O'd that this A-HOLE took advantage of this poor woman and used these lawn trimmers in his lawn care business. I tracked this AH down and confronted him with what he did and he showed NO REMORSE! We need to be more watchful as Americans for our elderly. Easy targets in the wolf pack that America has become. GOD HELP US AS A NATION!
Great video and content! I have the 650. I won't be buying any gas handheld blowers again. These things are great for quick clean up after mowing etc. But when it comes to fall I'm using my Redmax 8500 backpack. I like the battery OPE but it's gonna be a while before I give up the gas Toro Super Recycler and backpack blower!
Don’t store the battery on the charger or in the tool JB, you’ll be able to make another video when the snow falls. Use the blower to clear light snow from walkways and vehicles I’m surprised you purchased the 615 instead of the 765. Great video/information 👍🏻👍🏻
Good tips here JS! Thanks for sharing! I’m interested in trying it out come winter time! I decided on the 615 because of its price point appealing to more buyers at $200. The 765 was $330. Bit pricey for most people. You own the 765?
@@GarageGear I do not own the 765. I lost two ash trees so my leaf blower work has been left solely to grass clippings and blowing off the pool cover. I’ll likely get the 650. I’m finding that with the cordless tool kits (tool+ battery +charger) you’ll be better off shopping the battery size and your future plan of bare tool (no battery or charger) My thinking is if you were wanting a string trimmer you’d have to purchase another kit so that you also received a larger battery because your 2.5 won’t carry you through string trimming AND blowing on a single charge. I bought the mower first, 7.5ah battery with rapid charger. I can do my lawn and trim with a single charge and have the 4ah (from trimmer purchase) as backup. That’s just my plan because I will likely end up with no gas outdoor power equipment because of the convenience. Leaf blower, chainsaw and 2 stage snowblower are on the list for sure.
@@GarageGear btw, make sure you register the 3 pieces online at their website. The app does not actually register the items. It’s basically a list of your tools and Ego accessories. Do it on the website.
@@js12278 thanks for sharing all that info about your equipment! Lots of good details in there. And thanks for the tips on registering the equipment too. Appreciate it! 👍👍
JB, can you blow lawn clippings and leaves into the street where you live?😮😮😮 Here in Aurora, that's a $ 50.00 fine😡 Leaves and grass clippings clog the sewers......that's what the City tells us...AFTER they hand you a summons.😡😡😡
I bought this today. I am returning it tomorrow. Without the turbo button pressed it’s too weak to mover very much stuff. I have a 1/8 acre lawn. It for a very small yard. It is way over priced. It was $220 at Lowe’s.
Hey John! Good to hear from you again bud! I like this unit but I’m not a fan of the high battery costs. I’ll keep you posted as I mess around with it some more! Have a good weekend my friend! 👍
Give it time. The battery will start being difficult to charge, then will read that it’s empty even though it has a full charge. Disconnect it, then reconnect it and it’ll be fine. When you look at buying a new battery you see the real fun of Ego products… 😮😮😮. Works great until you need a new battery.
I enjoy your reviews, I watch them as often as I can. But I'll be honest, there is no way in hell I'm going battery. I've used some gardening equipment that is battery operated and they just don't have the power that gas equipment does. Until you show me a lawn mower that can tackle St. Augustine grass I might take a look, otherwise battery just can't do what a gas powered mower can.
Hey chum! You and I are cut from the same cloth. I’m a gas fan for sure. If I bought a battery mower I would be paying out the teeth for batteries to get my lawn cut. Smaller tools like these are a little better on power usage. Im going to do some tests to see how well they last! Thanks for being a cool fan!
@@TonyMoleman490 hey Tony! It has a decent amount of power on high or turbo. But the battery life is pretty bad on those levels 15 minutes worth barely finishes even a small yard.
They're just so expensive for what it is. I wanted to buy Ego blower and trimmer badly. I opted for corded units. Way more power and no concern about running out of power. Plus the cost was less than half. I fully agree cordless is very handy but I would rather have money than convenience.
Give it time and you'll be impressed with its durability and usefulness. On low speed, you can dry your car, your wife's hair, your kids after the pool, water in the garage, gunk from the roof, etc. Now get started and tackle those blow ---‐--------------------> jobs. ( Intended Rated: PG13)
@@GarageGear I have the exact same model which arrived with a 4Ah battery. Evidently there is a 2.5Ah battery that may be supplied with lower versions of the blower. I also have two 7.5Ah and one 10Ah battery, all interchangeable with the mower, weed eater, blower, power station, etc... that EGO sells. Experience: EGO sells a slow charger (which was supplied with your blower) and a fast charger (which is supplied with their flagship mower). The power station, though, charges all batteries on slow charge alternating between batteries partial fill (so each battery does not overheat during refill). If you have a whole house power outage and need power over a few days, a gas powered generator will give you what you are looking for, otherwise, the battery equipped EGO power station works for multiple hours or a couple days depending on what's plugged in.
@@SpaceCadet4Jesus thanks for sharing all of this information Space Cadet! Lots of good details here especially for moving forward with battery power. Thanks my friend! 👍👍
EGO website lists the battery at 2.8lbs, but you got it clocking in at almost 8lbs?!?!?! 75 minutes stated runtime at 200CFM vs the 530 75 minutes at 250CFM, and that total unit with battery is listed at 7.4lbs making only 65db. 😕
Hey Cindy! At my local lowes the 650 was $100 more! Just check your store price to be sure. At only $50 more you may get a little more CFM power on the high end without turbo and this could be worth it. At $100 more I would say no. Double check your price to be sure! Thanks for watching 👍
@@GarageGear pretty sure the 650 has the bigger 5.0 but alibi heavier battery. I don't really need the additional run time for my small yard so opting for lighter 615. Hopefully it will not be much less powerful. Thank you so much!
@@cindykeselowski899 if your yard isn’t that big Cindy then you’re good to go with the 615. You’ll get about 15 minutes straight on the high end. When you mix in low speed and high speed you’ll get about 20-25 minutes. 👍
@@f62darkstar my big concern with buying an electric snowblower is the resale value. From what I’m seeing you can’t get nearly any good money back for them when you go to sell them.
@@GarageGear good point...I have watched videos of them also, did not impress me much in performance as compared to gas....Plus those batteries are very expensive compared to a gallon of gas.
With the mining of the materials for the battery (not forgetting the health of the 10 year old Africans doing most of the dirty work) & the fact that the battery’s need to be replaced after a few short years also not forgetting the manufacturing of the plastics in the battery & charger & the unit itself ,you also got to consider the use of the expensive electric to charge the batteries & the fact that fossil fuels that is used to generate said electricity, I don’t think that blower is as good for the planet than a petrol one, YER WELCOME😆
Hey Brett, totally agree with everything you mentioned here. I don’t believe this new era of battery equipment is any better for our planet. In many ways I think it’s worse. Thanks for sharing!
That battery weighs 7 lb, and it's only a 2.5aH? I will cry BS, and say that it's a 9aH battery labeled as a 2.5aH. Would explain why all their tools runs a lot longer than the competition.
Hey John!!! I teach at the high school level. Juniors and seniors. I teach personal training at a vocation school. We have a fun class! Some of my students follow me on here. We’ll see if any respond to you on this lol! 👍
@@GarageGear be nice if I had teachers that was enthusiastic about teaching like you. Been out of public school system 24 yrs. Most of the teachers was stoic and acted like they wanted to pull out a gun and commit suicide rt there
I am all for a different way of getting away from Fossil Fuels but there has to be more Studies done on the environmental impact these batteries are going and are already creating. Just digging the chemicals out of the ground has had a huge impact on the environment than the disposal of them is probably going to be like the tires. Already watching RU-vid Magnet Fishing shows where both batteries and tires end up plus a lot of other things. So investigate how the batteries are produced and their impact and the disposal impact will either destroy our planet or better it.
Hey Rambo! I’m right there with you bud! The impact of these things can be worse. From the mining all the way to their disposal it’s pretty crazy the lengths these companies are willing to go. Thanks for watching bud!
