I just bought the Soul Food Bass and it's a nice overdrive but doesn't hit the borderline distortion I was looking for more. Perhaps getting this Big Muff Pedal with the Soul Food Bass is the secret sauce? How is the Big Muff for cleaner-driven tones? Thx!

@@Mr.Steve-O The Big Muff doesn't really do any type of overdriven tone very well. Running the Soul Food into it, however, turns to absolute magic.

@@OnlineBassGuitar1 I'm using this pedal for a couple shows on Oct. Also will start recording with it. So far it's a great pedal. I also place an overdrive in front of the distortion to add more edge.

Same issue. Amp has to be on like volume 1 to be able to use it at all. If vol is higher and i click the pedal on it's a crisis. Feedback and screaming all over the house.

I own the v10 Deluxe. It has a bass boost switch just like the model in this review, so you can get the same sort of tones out of it. You also have an attack circuit, which is highly useful for bass players. This feature takes the dry signal, runs it through one gain stage, then mixes it with the regular output. This is a bit different from having a dry signal blend, and only affects the clarity of your initial pick attack. The Deluxe also has a gate and a mids circuit, but the bass boost and attack functions are the important features in this context. The sound is very much like the Bass Big Muff, only with much better note articulation.

I bought one when I was new but I've found that it really shines with an eq and another overdrive in front of it. But that's caus I've aquored a lot of pedals by now. As a first for anyone reading this, since this comment is old, I'd advise something else for jamming with people.

Compared to Boss pedals or Tech-21 it is a faff undoing four screws just to change a battery

@@OnlineBassGuitar1 I am looking for that characteristic fuzz of the stoner, I love it, so look at this pedal that looked good but that's why I was telling you, that maybe for a little more money I rent the Deluxe but that, I am looking for a fuzz pedal that is worth for the Stoner so sound powerful, which one would you recommend?Thanks in advance. @@OnlineBassGuitar1 ok because i wasnt really pleasantly surprised when i heard how quiet the original big muff is. while it sounds great, its almost totally inaudible in a full mix when used on a bass

I agree with Ianto. I own this pedal. I want a subtle overdrive to leave engaged on my pedal board all the time but can't dial that into this temperamental box.

@@mikenicholson7465 Dry mode, vol at 9:00, tone at 3:00, sust at max. Works for me

@@JosephGallagher I run mine with the highs on my active bass preamp highs cranked, the pedal it’s self is on the dry setting volume at 12 tone at 10 sustain at 9. It give it an airy sound, you can hear the highs of the bass but get the lows off the muff

Decent. Not quite as beefy due to the passive bass but you still get plenty of bite and the blend option is a great way to keep body in the sound.

Just made it up

I just picked one up and have had no issues using it with a Stingray through an MXR Compressor

Make sure to use the compressor before the fuzz/distortion. Deluxe version has a noise gate could help but a spearate nokse gate is more usfule

Believe me, that doesn't make the difference. but be my guest to try it out.

Could be room acoustics or perhaps too much low frequency coming from the guitar amps. Just food for thought.

I find a Boss HM-2 accomplished exactly what I hoped this pedal would. No blend feature obviously, but works amazingly.

OnlineBass Guitar im using one spot adaptor to power up my pedals. tested in two different jamming studios yet the hum still exists. i always use the fuzz with sansamp programmable pedal. even without sansamp the hum is still there.

@@OnlineBassGuitar1 I just noticed if I have my compressor on or Sparkle Drive pedals on, it creates a helluva loud noise. I experimented and was able to finally end the madness. I guess I was too lazy before and just didn’t use any fuzz pedals. Now I’m good.

I think he used this pedal in Anasthesia along with an EQ unit and a fuzz wah pedal.

Pair it with a wah, yes. Make sure to put the wah before this to sound like cliff.

@@OnlineBassGuitar1 you'll love it :-) doesnt seem to be available here in nz yet but can't wait for the day. Nothing wrong with fuzz in the right Context either, of course, it just sounds wierd on bass imo. :-)

They’re two different types of pedals. Soul food is overdrive, this is fuzz.
