I'm glad it was helpful. In a way, this video was a bit of an experiment. I normally shoot videos that are like a personal diary of my day. And in this one, I started with the idea of making a helpful "how to" video about how to take this train. But then the luck of Planet Doug took over, and I wasn't even able to buy a ticket. So it turned into almost a normal diary video anyway as all the usual things went wrong. 🙂

I think you had me in mind when you made this video! Good documentation of exiting the airport, catching the train, bus area, etc. I search out videos such as this when arriving at a new location to ease the effort getting from the airport to city centers. I value videos that show these processes, with signage and landmarks to look for when navigating new locals. Thanks for the video, Doug. CC!

hi, as far as I know on airport trains (especially in Java) the seat system is not numbered, so passengers are free to sit in any carriage or seat

After one week it becomes boring in KL and you fly without your bike back to Sumatra. I think Mathew has to keep it for the next 10 years....

Doug could have gone to other states in Malaysia. Seremban is another town nearer to KL. Kuala Terengganu a coastal town. Beautiful scenery and good seafood. He just prefers to stay put in KL and Port Dickson.

CC. Cashless is good in many ways. You can avoid certain fees. Of course cash is still 'king' in many parts of the world. Try check Wise debit card. You can stores money in many currencies.

Yes I do have a PayPal account. And I've used it in the past for purchases online. But I don't know how it would work in this instance. I'm not buying a ticket on my phone. I'm just using the keypad and card swipe mechanism on this ticket machine. Is it possible to access your Paypal account through a machine like this? I never even thought about it at the time. Luckily, I now know about the app for buying train tickets. If I ever find myself in a similar situation in Indonesia, I could buy the train ticket in advance on the app. But I didn't even find out about the app until the days I was leaving the country. 😀

Ha, I checked my Gmail to verify as the name sounded like the place I had stayed at in Medan. Yep! On September 5th 2017 I stayed there and spent $12 Canadian and 39 cents. I remember the AC was crap and I was not too happy about that. Are you off to Toba again?

Such a shame this channel does not have many subscribers. Different. Travel plus chatter on personal experiences. No Malaysia bashing like that despicable old English guy. Complaining about anything and everything. This pleasant Canadian just takes it in his stride understanding that people. Places. Food and culture is totally different from the first world that as disgusting it is corruption especially systemic corruption.
