It’s interesting what you said about the Five Doctors being only for the fans, because as a 7 year old this was the first Doctor Who story I was aware of and the concepts intrigued me so much that I eventually became a huge fan.
Agreed, I like some of the violence especially in Season 21 due to it's much darker tone, but when it randomly pops up in Season 19 and 20 it seems so weird at times haha
Nah. Not violent at all. I’m glad the level of violence was increased for Colin Baker’s S22 - one of my very favourites. I’m a longtime fan of the Hinchcliffe gothic horror era, so the violence is fine by me. The Raston Warrior Robot set piece from THE FIVE DOCTORS is a classic.
The 5th Doctor's era is underrated. Okay - some of the stories are of poor quality, and I think there's perhaps an overreliance on returning enemies(which seemed to effect a lot of the 1980s DW era), but there's many gems in there : Earthshock(Eric Saward's masterpiece), Mawdryn Undead, Enlightenment, Resurrection of the Daleks, The Caves of Androzani.
Completely agree, I’ll be honest I was dreading getting to the 80s era but ended up really enjoying it for the most part and Season 21 (minus the last story) has quickly become a new favourite of mine
