There’s a fisker dealer near San Diego that seems quite literally abandoned. I visited at noon on a Saturday, and the entire lot was covered in dust. The only person on the property was a security guard who could tell me that nobody was there 😭
As far as the buying and shipping process, its easy to understand how overwhelming it would be for the base employees after a 50% cut in price. The CEOs dont care about a few weeks of rush for them.
A ton of early Fisker employees bought Ocean Ones…. Imagine giving the company you work for $70k, then the vehicle depreciates to half its value, then they lay you off…..
Thank you for taking the time to inform viewers of shady practices. I'm sure there's a Fisker insider somewhere that would be willing to spill the beans.
There will be plenty in a month once they file bankruptcy and the non disclosure papers are not even worthy to be toilet roll, a company breaching its contract by not paying its staff nor existing isnt capable of enforcing non disclosure so then there will be hundreds willing to speak.. Austin could probably even get the same guy who sold it to him to come on follow up
I had a chance to look at one of these extreme models in person and I’m honestly bummed that the company failed. The shape is cool like a Range Rover, faster than cars usually that size it being electric, and all the tech in there seemed cool even though I’m a tactile button guy
It's always the upper-management that ruins a company; a sales rep won't be able to destroy the company that they work for. Even if they hated the company and wanted to, they simply don't have the power to do so.
Don’t underestimate the impact front line workers have. Upper management is obviously the one driving the ship but the people who are having the day to day interactions with customers are who ultimately leave the biggest impression. Companies like Tesla work because of their creepy cult-like following that was built from the small things.
Got to feel for the staff. I'm sure people across sales, delivery, support, and manufacturing have been working their buts off, not only to keep their paycheck coming for a few more weeks or get one more commission but also because they hoped if they could get enough sales over the line, it could save the company in the medium term.
Even applying for a job with them when they first opened up their Chelsea location for the showroom was difficult. All of their auto fill selections didn't work and you had to double input your resume even if you uploaded it.
Fisker is so sad. First the Karma. Absolutely wonderful car, but it failed miserably. And now the Ocean, and the sane thing. I really want Fisker to succeed, but they just can never get anything right.
Your the reason I build pc’s really helped me find my passion for computers, coming to realize it came very naturally for me. Thank you for being an inspiration and showing people the in depth world of technology.
This isn't an EV problem, I see people berating EVs and holding this up as an example. This nothing to do with the fuel source, all car manufacturers make bad stuff (yes Ford ecoboost 3 cylinder i'm looking at you and VW with dieselgate as 2 examples) this is to do with bad management at a car company and shoving out unfinished products. That can happen to any product whether it be EV, diesel, petrol or white goods or anything. It's happened in the software industry for years now, push out software like a game that's a mess and then needs patches. The internet and broadband has allowed those companies to get away with it further as it's now a lot easier for large patches to download and nearly computers are online most of the time. The car industry seems to be following the same route with car software, shove the car out and then send OTA patches to get bugs fixed and get it working. Governments need to get a handle on this right now, maybe we need a version of ATOL for the car industry to protect car buyers from bad cars, bad companies and collapses like this especially given the vast number of startups making cars now
My parents own a Fisker Ocean launch edition and I’ve driven it a few times. Honestly its is really good car and from what I’ve heard the 2.0 has fixed a-lot and for the slashed prices if your able to get one its a super good deal. I am a used car salesman so I do have a-lot to compare it to.
It would be nuts to buy a car that clearly relies on regular updates from a company going bankrupt. It doesn’t matter how much they cut the price. The process trying to purchase one alone tells you what you would be in store for. Of course, I have no pity for anyone who bought one when they first came out either. 1st gen of anything comes with an inherent risk. This is just a case where first gen cost a lot more money. Why get this when huge companies like Toyota have their own electric models?
Doesn't anymore remember the Fisker Karma, that company went out of business also. I don't know why investors gave that dude money a second time. How many times does Fisker have to fail before they stop giving him money?
What Fisker should do is when they near their inevitable, at this point, end, release the OS to the public and make the car actually user updateable, this way those who actually got one, could, with the help of the community, try to fix bugs, and add new features to make it a stable vehicle.
I think a huge problem with these newer car companies, is they're trying to build their company up the wrong way round. If you're starting a boat building company, you don't start out trying to build and sell multi-million dollar yachts and super-yachts. You start out with dinghies and smaller river/fishing boats and work up from there. Gain a reputation and customer base and use that to help you climb up the business size rungs. Modern car companies are ALL trying to skip those steps and get right to the top straight away, and then wonder why they keep failing. Tesla only succeeded because it had someone who was already extremely rich behind it, they were one of the first to truly figure out electric cars properly, and they focused on building a regular-ass looking car rather than a giant SUV monstrosity. But they've had their own teething issues they've had to weather.
It’s crazy how company will he bankrupt and make it hard for themselves to get your money smh just like the 50 people that went to red lobster to help the business because there going bankrupt and they ask all 50 to leave and wouldn’t starve them like wtf do y’all not wanna be in business or something weird activity’s thank goodness you didn’t give them your money they literally don’t deserve it
Bro they're tanking. People that buy a car from a company thats gone under once already are fools. Imagine dropping 75k or even more after dealer markup when they first came out for one of those goofy things
Don't be fooled, if he had've bought this car he'd make much much more money from this video then the cars "worth" Such a shame it's a nice car, and the tech is great. It goes to show that it doesn't matter how great a product you have, poor management will kill any company!
A friend of mine bought a Fisker Ocean Ultra. Honestly, the car's not that bad. Unfortunately, support for this car will be short lived like Android phones in the past. He also bought it like about a month ago and a half ago. Like a week before Marcus dropped his review and also before the prices plummeted.
Too many customers and investors value the technology and potential of a company/product/service over the quality of leadership, organization, and execution within the company. Ultimately any company is just a bunch of people. If the people at the top are not effective leaders then the company is likely going nowhere, no matter their technology or potential capabilities.
Had to downvote this video for two reasons: 1. This was the hardest I’ve ever seen Austin show he wants his channel to be like Marqueses. Be your own thing bro - that’s why I’m here. 2. All of his silly justification for not buying the car - making this video pointless - when the depreciation and everything he spoke about was going to happen even if the purchase went through. And it’s not like any of it was even a surprise because you could tell it was going to happen before he even started the process.
tbh if they hit like sub 10k and there ends up being some sort of 3rd party software support by the time I've built my credit enough and am looking for another vehicle (mine got totaled) I might get one lmfao. that's HEAVILY dependent on the 3rd party support though, I don't think even as low as 1,000 I would get one without it.
My dad bought one had it delivered 6 weeks ago. He is buying a used outback next week cause he doesn't trust it to not strand us on fishing trips because it just did. lol
Feels like everyone wants to sensationalize their downfall for views. I don't even like electric vehicle but another option is good for consumers. I hope they pull out of this.
Yup, the clown show that is Fisker Inc can only be blamed on one person: Henrik Fisker! Yes, he is gifted as a car designer, but he has zero business skills but is genuinely interested to enrich himself and his own family. After the eventual bankruptcy, this should be a case study in what not to do in launching an EV car startup.
I'd be thinking was the car worth it at full price? So is half price worth it? People. Get scammed by thinking 50, 75 % off are winning when really they are NOT
Holy shaba. Fisker just became the "I bought this car for $700 as my first car" of the 21st century. [For context, remember how our parents/grandparents used to say they got their first car used for a couple hundred buck back in the 60s-80s? yea, we're at that point for EVs here in 2024]
lotta love when youtubers push things for there own gain or because they were paid to do so....this is why i dont take anything anyone "influencer" says at face value....
EVs are a waste of money. I have a feeling that these larg manufacturers are going to completely give up on EVs at least for the time being and focus on making newer gas powered cars more technologically advanced not to make them better for the customer mind you but to make these cars capable of extorting every penny out of their customers. Mark my words by 2030 we will have cars that require a subscription model on top of the purchase price to do any basic functions. Oh you want apple car play? That'll be $12 a month, you also want AC? Another $20 please. All while selling whatever data they can from listening in on personal conversations and your travel data. The future is doomed guys and these evil politicians and corporate elites are what killed it
I'm kinda curious what youtubers will do with the fisker cars and how they'll go in and completely hackintosh... hackinsker it. For the "regular person", horrible idea. For people who love tinkering, I'm looking forward to the videos
At least u did not buy a Vinfast because from what I understand the Fisker is way better. However, u should have just listened to Uncle Linus and get a Chevy Volt ( I love mine!)
I love people like you talking the real truth about a company..Most people bullshit a story..I too was hoping for Fisker to succeed a second time..Maybe now would be a good time to ask Biden for a loan..To help the car company stay afloat..Since Biden is giving the American dollar freely to other countries
The whole point of a legal entity is that when it goes belly the Directors can just walk away. Investors have already lost their shares with the company being delisted and vehicle owners will lose their warranty, service contracts any perks as soon as the company goes into formal liquidation. It’s very sad for both the company and the early adopters.
The youtube channel carwow was mid video with 1 of these, and as he tried to rotate the screen from horizontal to portrait and it stopped about halfway through the rotation and stayed at that 45ish degree angle. 😂 🤦
Thats why you stick the traditional Brands if you buy a car. That company can shut down tomorrow and you have a piece of plastic which wont get any update nor service...
