I cosign this!! Although I think Kim eventually made herself pretty clear on her problem, I'd like to see what else Ant could pick up on both of their energy as well as how ALL the girls feel about eachother
It's just INSANE to me that Lea literally just played herself in Glee. Like, all of her insecurities, her personality, the way she treats other people.....literally Rachel Berry. I don't even think Ryan had to actually write anything. They just put the camera on Lea & yelled action! LOL
I wouldn't put it past Ryan Murphy to write the actors' rivalries into the show. He was extremely petty and willing to humiliate his actors to punish them. There was an interview where he bragged about writing in a slushy scene just to get back at Lea for something. Extremely toxic and abusive work environment
I heard two fans from a podcast theorize that she’s actually illiterate so it would make sense if she didn’t have to memorize a lot of lines and she can just improvise
I remember reading about cast members saying she was just like her character. Pretty sure Ryan Murphy was inspired by the actors for creating the characters. It makes it easier for actors but also creates relatable and authentic characters. In the glee project each contestant was trying to create a unique character that stood out and someone that hasn't been seen on tv much.
I was apart of the glee fandom from the start and we all collectively HATED Ryan Murphy, he hated how Dianna Agron humanised Quinn, he said in an interview she “ruined the character” therefore he’d throw her these insane storylines. Naya was removed from the last episodes of S5 bc she called Lea out on her behaviour and Lea had a tantrum. Ryan Murphy said that if Lea wanted Glee to end, he’d do it. As much as I love Glee, it was just a toxic mess behind the scenes.
@@Nolitaflat my intuition (before hearing any details in the reading) was Naya. She was also a fan favorite which is definitely something that Lea would be jealous of.
Especially when she became more of a prominent character in later seasons. Both are monstrously talented but in my opinion Naya’s voice was more pleasant to listen to
@@JustKristin89 Her and Dianna Agron are my favs on the show as far as singing goes. Their rendition of Toxic along with Heather Morris from the 3rd season was phenomenal.
Lea was a child actor and she didn't get along with Naya Rivera. Unfortunately, Naya died :( When she died that is when everyone from glee started opening up about the bullying from Lea on set.
Lea Michelle was definitely a favorite, that's how she got her role in Scream Queens. It's funny because they even referenced her favoritism in the show, must've been a slap to the face to have to act that out.
I know a lot of people are talking about Naya as the rival, and that's definitely true, but there was a lot of speculation back then that Amber Riley was denied opportunities and standout performances in favor for Lea.
I agree, I think this was about Amber, I always felt she was left in the shadows, her talent was neglected in my opinion. Amber is amazing and her voice was the power house of the show in my opinion 💜
@@432celestial9 her death was an accidental drowning, not a suicide. Are you actually trying to claim that "the industry" hired a hitman diver to hide in the lake and pull her under? Fuck's sake.
Lea couldn't have pulled all of these "meaness" off if the producers didn't let it go on. They picked keeping Lea happy over fostering a good working environment.
Maybe, but it’s interesting how it’s mentioned that she took the blame when she knew that the decisions were not hers but played along cuz she was going to be hated anyways
Ant, someday can you do a reading on old Hollywood actors, starting with James Dean, Jayne Mansfield, Elvis Presley. One of those three I wouldn't mind.
Glee was a pretty iconic show. I feel like its both the millennials’ and the Gen Zs go-to type of escapism. The cast are still pretty well known to this day and it seems like nothing much has changed. There may have some controversy surrounding Lea Michele and possibly Cory Monteith, but I guess that would be a separate conversation for now. Ant’s consistency with his readings is simply applaudable. It’s not just celebrity readings he specializes in, but a number of different relevant circumstances and events that are worth paying attention to and being discussed about.
Lea Michele is a Virgo sun with Mars in Capricorn. And nothing says workhorse to me like those 2 placements. She personally gets on my last nerve, but I can see how she was as successful on the show as she was. She’s also a Cancer moon so I can see her being emotional but very protective of that in her work life.
I looked up the glee curse before I started this video because I had literally no idea what it was, and one of the websites I went to said how she died. She was on a boat with her son Josey, and maybe her and Josey jumped off the boat to go swimming or something, but she wasn't able to get back on the boat. However, she was able to put Josey back on the boat and save his life. So essentially she's a hero!
When I was in hs I had drama class and we had someone who worked on several shows come to our class to talk about how it is to be an assistant after she was done she allowed us to ask questions and some one asked who was the worst person you’ve worked with and she said Lea Michelle this was way before all the drama came out that she was a b**** but I remember thinking back to that moment.
I think it was one of the cast members that said this a long time ago, but at the beginning of the show Ryan Murphy (Glee's creator/writer) basically tried to hang out with all of them after work constantly wanting to be their friend (very Mean Girls I'm a cool mom energy) and some of the cast were like 'hey, we just want a normal boss/employee relationship and to get away from work stuff for bit' and he took that as a personal attack. And you can tell. There were leaks about behind the scenes drama over the years and then he would write dialogue in the show to reference it and whoever he was allegedly mad at would be the mouthpiece for how he felt about it or be the one receiving the comment. Then those who very publicly (and privately I'm assuming) sucked up to him constantly got most the songs/scenes. The favoritism was so blatant from season 3 onward, but it got so incredibly ridiculous in seasons 4 and 5. It was all so fucking immature coming from adult men who have way too much power over these young adults. They would also see that the audience loved a certain aspect of the show and then purposefully destroy it. So it's like they hated the audience as well. So fucking weird. Being a Glee fan was rough. All of that is why I refuse to watch any other Ryan Murphy show or movie.
@@jennifern2403 He kind of always came off as the male version of Lea, though I never thought of him as cutthroat like she is, just mainly a huge attention seeker with an ego. Not sure if he was like that before the show or if it was after Ryan Murphy and shippers started fawning over him constantly, but boy it got annoying. Especially after Glee basically turned into the Lea and Darren show for a while. I typically don't take too much stock in what actors say about others in interviews because its a formal setting in which they would never say that they disliked a co-star, it's just common curtesy. And if Chris had said at any time that he didn't care for Darren, he would have been burned at the stake by the shippers. But out of everyone, Chris had the most reason to not like him. It was partially Darren's fault that Chris was so severely harassed by the shippers, because he was always fueling the fire whenever he could, even when Chris had stated that it made him uncomfortable. And then Darren still continued to do it after the show was over. So overall he didn't seem like a good guy. I can only hope he's grown as a person since then, but I wouldn't know, I do my best to avoid him.
Ryan Murphy gives me the same sinister energy as Lee Daniels. Ant needs to do a Empire reading because I believe that show & cast is cursed too. From the whole Jussie ordeal to why the actor that plays Hakeem went off the rails. Even Taraji seems to be a little haunted after the show ended. I know she talked about wanting to “end it all” during quarantine. Then Sloan Bella’s reading on Heath Ledger said his problems didn’t start until Monster’s Ball & guess who produced that
He’s also called out by his exes that he’s sexually abusive. One time, he said to one of them during the time they dated asking about if they should watch child porn together.
19:20 yes, there was issues: mixed reviews (about the main star - that’s why they’re changing to Lea), low ticket sales (Lea can bring more ticket sales)…
I remember one of the reason I watched Glee was because the emotions always felt so real and I always thought wow these were amazing actor. Turns out all of those emotions were real feeling huh.
Another very relevant, very plausible antphrodite reading. Sounds like management just could not handle a whole team of creatives. Without strong, equitable leadership, chaos resulted. This reading makes so much sense regarding all the resulting bad experiences (aka "The Glee Curse") by the cast. A good show runner would not have allowed any one cast member be abusive or combative regarding co-workers.
Yeah Ryan Murphy is definitely a super toxic boss. I get a vibe he wanted to self insert himself once the show got popular. Very full of himself and wanted people to kiss his ass. Any good boss knows how to have a good relationship with their employees and how to be respectful. He tried to blurr that line too many times and he just had a lot of immaturity
It’s hella weird that none of the glee cast blew up after a successful long show with a talented cast. The only times we heard about them in the mainstream is if they died, sadly. Your reading of how ppl didn’t like Lea reminded me of how the cast, crew and everyone else on Twitter treated her when she expressed support of BLM.
Beanie who played Fanny Price before was apparently good comedic but not good singing. She got bad reviews from the critics due to not be enough like Barabara Streisand and was snubbed at the Tony's. Also according to rumours the think she got the role because of her father being part of the show head team. Love this reading thanks Ant 💛❤️
not even finished the video yet but i hope this touches on ryan and dianna agron's apparent beef because it was always weird and off and seemed to play favorites and sabotaged characters of actors he didn't like which is weird because dianna is the human embodiment of a kind soul and gets along with everyone
Would love a reading on where Britney’s money went… today the first day of the trial with Jamie Spears, Lou Taylor and Robin Greenfield summoned by Britney’s lawyer (also Rosengart mentioned the Kardashians and Travis Scott in the deposition as possibly having ties to the missing 600 mil.
Ant!!! I’m begging you to do a reading on Ricky Martin. He’s trending for incest for having an alleged relationship with his nephew. We’d like to know what’s going on…allegedly for entertainment purposes only lol
Really excited that a reading I wanted to see happened! You really went in. Thanks for delivering as always 💕 Also, to maybe answer some of the funny girl confusion, after Beanie first debuted there were mostly negative reviews about how she couldn’t sing/keep up with the role. This, in addition to Lea always being open about how this was her dream role and them sharing the same theater manager makes it messier…
Omg you are in my brain 💖 I was just thinking about this earlier today. Edited to say that I don't trust that Ryan Murphy, it seems like he's toxic to work with, please do a reading on him Ant! 😊
All I know and have seen from public tweets made by the members of the cast is that Lea is impossible to work with and everyone fucking hated her and that she got an extreme amount of favouritism on the show. Like someone did say, I don’t remember which member of the cast it was, but they suggested her character as Rachel and Lea as herself in real life are similar in that they are self obsessed, delusional and over all insanely annoying. Nobody in the cast genuinely liked Lea, they ALL had such shitty things to say about her on Twitter lmao
If this were a man being like this….striving to get better jobs, better roles, more money, it wouldn’t be an issue. She’s a diva & there are lots of them on that show. It’s sad what’s happened to them. She was born to play that role on broadway. Good on her!!!
Yeah Funny Girl as a production has been scrambling since like the beginning of the run, but they were especially in crisis lately after Beanie Feldstein (who originated the role for this revival) randomly dipped after not getting a Tony nom
It's weird because I have only seen 1 episode of Glee and today RU-vid was recommending me soo many Glee videos including this one. It's also the 9th anniversary of Cory Monteith's death :( wow
OMG THANK YOU!! My two true passions Ant's readings and Glee coming together ❤ I get Lea should be held accountable for her bad behaviour but I just love her and admire her so much, she is obviously so smart and talented yet so damaged. PD: She may be difficult but boy can she sing
My favorite character was Kurt. He had an amazing voice. He is now a well published author of multiple children’s books. I don’t know if he continues to perform. Supposedly he was best friends with Lea in real life.
I'm glad to know that now I was right to feel the way that I do abt Michele and Swift. Not as powerful as Ant, but I always knew there was smth off abt those girls.
I feel she can be very calculating for sure. And when you spoke of the child stars and rivalry I felt it was with Naya Rivera for sure. Naya's character wasn't originally supposed to be on Glee longterm and started off small but fans loved her and she really came into her own and got a lot of screen time and fans adored her. She could sang and had a presence about her. Lea wasn't getting all the attention and I don't think she was used to that. With "Funny Girl" yes, it wasn't getting the best reviews and they wanted to take it another direction etc earlier but even before the other actress took it they were talking about Lea Michele because she always wanted this role. I think the other actress sadly was doomed from the beginning.
What’s really strange is that this neck and neck revelry and mostly the whole favoritism things really translated into the show so obviously. What I wish is that the show didn’t just laugh it off and take it seriously possibly doing something to fix it would’ve been nice.
Accurate followed the Glee drama. Naya was the person who got away w/ alot in the show. I also believe she got a slight bigger pay raise because.... NAYA was sleeping w/ one of the writers of Glee. Lea is a work horse and yes she DELIVERS her vocals are TOP NOTCH actually to be fair, But she is a big bully. It wasn't only Samantha whom she bullied. There were also rumors that she bullied Charice Pempengco now known as Jake Zyrus who played Sunshine Corazon. Charice was suppose to have multi-episode arc, but that was cut into like 2 episode arc.
Let's make one thing clear, Leah Michele was always supposed to be Funny Girl.. that is all. deuxmoi did say she was their first choice before she got canceled for being a diva.
L0VE Y0U ANT! I had a dream about us hangin out recently 🤣😅 Wish we really could! PLZ make a video on each card & how you read them so I can take notes haha 🙏🏻💞📝 XOXO
When you said fighting for screen time, I immediately thought of Mark Salling. If you don’t know who he is (or what he did) I would suggest looking it up, but TW for child ab*se & trauma
She’s best friends with one of the producers. They was in-fighting behind the scenes between 2 sides of the production company and the side that wanted the music > comedy has won now that ticket sales are bad.
I don't know if I agree with her being nice outside her career. I read a story once about her and I think her father treating wait staff at a restaurant terribly and yelling at them. I think she's legit a terrible person.
19:25 No, the show didn't do well. But it was set up from the beginning with sky high expectations because this is the role that made Barbra Streisand famous, so if you're going to bring it back then how do you do better than Barbra? You can't. It turned her into a Broadway star and then again turned her into a Hollywood star AND an Oscar winner. No remake can succeed in all those things at once so it was always going to live in the shadow of Barbra's original Funny Girl play. So when they cast Beanie to play the role the producers were already in the mindset of "Well we can't live up to the original, so let's just go left field with it out and totally out of the box and maybe we will get some acclaim that way." But even though Beanie was fine in the role there was always going to be a subset of people criticizing her for being fat, and unfortunately those voices got louder and harsher due to the low ticket sales calling her uncharismatic and the producers started to listen and Beanie became a scapegoat for people both online and in the show. She was left with barely any support during this tough time and then COVID struck and they cut her contract down by 6 months. It sucks what happened to her.
