About 20 years ago I knew a couple: her divorce did not come through in time. They went ahead of with the entire day and never told anyone. When it came time to sign the papers they just made scribbles (previously arranged with the Officiant). They had a fantastic day, went off on honeymoon and when they came back the two of them slipped off and got married. When they admitted what had happened it sparked one heck of a second party. It was all paid for, the guests had been gathering it seemed like the answer to the dilemna. It stands out in my mind as memorable!

That is exactly how I would have handled it as well. Have your planned day. It's technically very easy to get married. In Minnesota you just have to make an appointment at a service center, both of you go in (extra paperwork around that), and you get your license on the spot. No blood test, no 3-day wait, just get married in the state within six months of the appointment.

Why was everyone there to see them sign wedding papers? You don’t do that at a wedding unless it’s a courthouse wedding.

@@emmyblue30 In my state there's a part of the license application paper the officiant, the couple and two witnesses sign and date that it was, where and when officiated since it was out of the courthouse. We did it at the wedding when the officiant married us. The courthouse just had us fill out a form then gave us the part for the officiant to sign and return after marrying us to make it official.

The most memorable wedding I attended was in a fire house & guests brought huge pans of homemade food, no caterers. Lots of dancing & at the end, guests formed a circle, the groom broke through, scooped up the bride & carried her out of the fire house.

I think its kind of pathetic! She, Amanda , did nothing! Then they said, they couldn't hang things from the ceilings and walls , if you watch to the end, they did! She couldn't even divorce her first husband, and I am probably, right, when I say she is divorced now! Marriage is awful, but to start out like that, world of trouble! Sad, some women cant take responsibility, while the rest of us, bust our A, and we get nothing. Thats how it works.

How can people actually make a MARRIAGE when they’re so unprepared?! “Someone else needs to ‘do it for me.’” “I’ve never been to a wedding.” The bride’s MOTHER had to check on the divorce papers! I DON´T KNOW HOW THE INDIAN MOTHER COULDN´T HAVE SAVED UP ALL THIS YEARS FOR A PROPER INDIAN WEDDING FOR HER SON EVEN BEING THE FATHER WHITE CAN HONOUR BOTH TRADITIONS WITH EUROPEAN AND INDIAN FOOD . BEING HALF INDIAN THE GUY SEEM STRANGE SEE THE DAUGHTER IN LAW AS A CHRISTIAN BRIDE!!!
