those kontakt factory strings were miles better than the studio 1 strings. it wasnt even close. the studio one strings just sound overly bright and nasty as f###. as soon as you played the same chords on the kontakt strings i felt some emotion.
Hey great video, as someone who doesn't really own any other Kontakt instruments at the moment, do you think it's worth getting Kontakt 7 for the Factory Library 2? Are people actually using the factory library for anything else than experimenting?
Hmm I think Kontakt is mainly worth getting in a Komplete Bundle. Often those are even comparable in price. Unless you want to use a lot of 3rd libraries that only work with full Kontakt - but to me it seems that most are getting available for the free Player. The Factory Library I wouldn't give too much value to unless you really want some flutes and ethnic samples and have no orchestral stuff so far...
I'm sorry but there was no contest for the sax.... Kontakt blew that plastic toy sounding crap from S1 out of the water. After hearing such a nicely sampled guitar I was shocked at how poorly S1 sampled the sax.
What would be pretty interesting is to make the same song twice. One with free Instruments and FX and the other one with paid versions. I think a lot of people long for the paid versions while they'd probably just get the same result with the free ones. Other than Orchestral sounds, I think the free plugins are quite adequate for most dabbling in music making. This coming from a person owning the Kontakt 14 Collector's edition. You really have to be a seasoned pro to get the most out of that stuff. I'm a beginner myself.
This usually comes bundled if you buy Kontakt. Kontakt 6 had a factory library that has more or less the same sounds as this newer one that was introduced with kontakt 7. If you somehow are able to pirchase just this factory library 2, you could use it in the 7 player probably.
