'Be Prepared to STOP, whilst stopping is still an option." Ah, so much wisdom - heartbreaking, compelling, faithful witnessing. A deep bow of gratitude to all who made this moment possible. Listen with a willingness to be changed by what you hear.

Thank you Scott for doing this interview with Stephen Jenkinson. So much to consider .. "Principally, what this virus is is not an encounter with our mortality .. This is an encounter with an unsustainable way of life." "The real news here is not that we failed to care for our elderly and our most vulnerable population .. it's that we segregated them in the name of taking care of them. And that segregation has come full circle, scorpion's tail fashion, to haunt us as we watch through the window at our elderly mother passing away with no physical touch." "This moment is crafted for us that our humanity would visit us as a plea, not as an entitlement.. as a plea .. that we might exercise the humanity that was entrusted to us. And how might we do it? Well, we might just decide we're not going back. Just .. it's gone .. just agree, and even if they offer it back to you, don't take it. It's like a blanket infected with small pox. It'll keep you warm for 20 minutes but it'll kill you in 20 days." -Stephen Jenkinson

I'm going to affirm the power and beauty of stopping with clients today. It's against the stream of the American current, but......balance. I am reminded of a quite from Roshi Philip Kapleau - "True freedom is the last thing anyone really wants."

I really appreciate his perspective on the benefits of learning limits and that the retreat of the natural world from humans is a way to protect us.

Stop Listen ... Deeply Let go (of whatever it is that needs to be let go'ed of) A belief, a self-centered point of view, a resistance to doing what you know is right, a refusal to continue going along with a loveless compromise, etc

Thank you Scott and Stephen for a generous plate of courageous sanity and enough raw material to be worked with. Much gratitude as always for these increasingly precious and beautiful threads spun from dark matter. Azul

Unintentionally viewed this EXACTLY 2 yrs later today. "Be Prepared to Stop" ... "Be Prepared to BE Stopped" .... "No Road. No Sign". I would encourage/suggest to others to not expand this message to the world/culture/society/"the other" at large. Take it in. Toward yourself. I've been obliged to honor all three. With love and respect to all and directly to Stephen and Scott for sharing your conversation . ~ Carly

The world is reviving itself in direction proportion to our defeat, i.e.., the waters of the Venice canals are clear. I have no earthly idea how I came across this Philosopher just a few days ago. Listening to this podcast as all mask restrictions are lifted (April 2022), I understand the profound - truly profound - disappointment in his words. Amen...came to my mind. Just "Amen".

This interview blew me away and brought tears to my eyes a few times. So aware of my own arrogance driven by fear of lack of control. And like everyone else, I resonated with "be prepared to stop" and "sub friggin mit". I saw the parallels between sub friggin mit and the surrender philosophy of law of attraction. The dance between we do and don't control the outcome.

I think I take exception to his denial of the term "sudden" in describing death. In fact, while all of us know that we will die, none of us know when. Perhaps "unanticipated at this time" is more accurate. A 12 year-old who becomes septic and dies within 24 hours is not experienced as anticipated in the same way that your grandmother's death at 101 is.

Anticipation of death must be a requirement for all parents prior to inception. If society had requirement prior to birth then perhaps.......

This "enlightened" person Jenkinson has a lot of difficulty being with the way things are and starting out there. Hard to get behind someone who thinks his thoughts are real. Seems he needs a little better window to understand how all this works. Just a little bit too invested in his own self image.

I think one of his points is that "it" is not working and that if we keep ignoring the signs that it is not working (as you just have) then we will pass the point of being able to STOP at all.
