This is by far the most realistic wave pool so far. From the ride length, and the way they can change it up. This model looks the best compared to the other 3 (or 4?) and I"m sure it could be scaled up too.
1:13 😄 Funny to see a bunch of grown men look at some water and be SO amazed by it that they stand around for the next 5 minutes straight, staring and giggling like overwhelmed little school girls!
awesome. I think this puts the one Occy was behind to shame...much better. And, dare I say it, even surpasses the Goats Lemoore venue. Just the fact that you can have several people surfing at once is a huge bonus for sure. And the variety on one wave is superior as well I think. Question though....why can't all these pools make the waves twice as big? I mean, as great as this wave pool is, an extra couple of feet in size would really be the business!! Thanks for posting this Stab....
Definately possible for sure but i think there are alot of variables to tune in before making it alot bigger. I dont think that actual surf park could take another 2 feet the way it's been designed. Look at the height of the walls for instance. 2foot bigger waves would mean so much more power needed , alot more water moving around. Most likely a shit load more money needed to pull it off, I can see it happening in the future no doubt.
@@truthpursuit8 thanks for your comment. Yeah, I get that..the "2 ft" remark was an off the cuff figure, so to speak. I think any extra height on a wave like this, would be welcome for sure.I'm sure in the future ,we'll see things we didn't believe possible!
Rides are definitely shorter but your wave count would be super high compared to Lemoore. Surf Ranch is a sick wave, longer and a little bigger but repetitive (meaning no variations) and out of the price range for most. This looks like you could show up with some mates for an afternoon and get barreled repeatedly for the same cost as a round of golf. Would love to know what their going to charge.
What we need in the next wave pool is a grower.... it doesn't take more energy to make a grower, it's related to the bottom. Some times I take off at Jake's on a wide two footer and by the time I'm negotiating the end its 5 foot. That's not more energy that's created that, it's the bottom. So then in a wave pool situation the thing can become a bigger and bigger wave without expending energy....
@This Guy Just cause people are getting paid doesn't mean they are not genuinely stoked to surf an empty slab! They didn't get a career in waves cause they fucked their way up a corporate ladder. Goodness me they love waves. They fuck waves!
@@claytonbrown7120I dont know about being contrived buddy but whatever....stand in front of an empty slab your about to surf and I'm telling u,u dont have to force a smile. The smile will come all over your face! Ha ha.
I know right, they could supply helmets or just do the cool thing and lay down some dream gym mat flooring, would probably still wear a helmet but it would be pretty sweet!
@@ThEdds100 Yeah I live 2 hours away from it & paid £190 to go there next week expecting to Surf what the boys are riding here. Problem is they got it locked on some 1 foot mush burger settings so there's no point in going. Emailed them over a week ago but no reply. It is the same pool. Cheers Josh
@@someoneelse293 Thanks man, £190 was for 4, 1 hour sessions. 2 hours on the right, 2 hours on the left and £10 for a spectator. Gonna hold on until you can Surf it cranked up.
More authentic, heavier and with more variety than Slater' s mechanical wave. Plus it's affordable unlike Slater's. Quality waves, the best so far out there.
They just need to beef up size on these pools, idk if its insurmountable but another 2 or 3 feet and that would be SOMETHING......all pools seem to be same size roughly so maybe its really tough to do
Very very cool music at 7 minutes and 20 seconds... nice to hear something other than rock music with surfing because so many other styles of music go with surfing
The technology for wave pools just keeps getting better and better but I have heard the cost at ones that are operating is about $100 an hour, pretty steep considering the ocean is free but you are guaranteed decent quality waves. I guess the further from the ocean you are the more viable an option it becomes anyway.
I am planning to visit here this May and learn to surf with my 7-year old boy. How thick surfing suit do we need? The water temperature is gonna be as cold as the ocean of May Melbourne? Do you think it's a good idea to spend a 2-week vacation with my son here for learning to surf in May?
Interesting to think about the effects that these pools will have on surf culture. Way more access to good waves for more people. Inner city black kids picking it up... world champions 2 years later...jeepers.
Imagain how cool it would be if they produced one of these on a massavaive scale ten times the size of this that pumped out 10-15 ft waves how insane would it be it proves it's possible on this smaller scale so could be done
Build a roof, enclose the pool and get some big fans to make it offshore. Defeats the purpose if you still need to wait for the wind to be the right direction...
Is this a viable business can the people that created this pay for all their costs. The water looks like it's in pretty good shape what do you guys do to treat the water? I would like to build one of these between Portland and Salem Oregon and I think there's enough servers to create plenty of demand
Better than Slater’s pool. Not as perfect or long but way thicker lip. Wonder what the energy cost per wave is? All these pools need to be near a clean harbour so they can be supplied with clean sea water. Sea water would of course have maintenance implications. When I build mine I’ll have the bottom covered in football sized rocks covered in kelp, with fish. A complete self sustaining ecosystem. Maybe Elon Musk will build one on Mars to attract surfers. Think of the moves you could pull in 1/3 gravity.
Definitely heavier and bigger barrel, and longer it seems too than Waco's. Huge variety of waves, unlike Waco's as well. Waco's might have a slight upper claim on above the lip waves, but Melburn seems to be still shaping theirs. My bet, best in every category. Slater's is not affordable and it's an unnatural mechanical wave
Just an advertisement video. In Australia no one does anything if there is not a gain. The water is colder than the ocean in winter. Not even a solar panel considered in the project, not an environmental friendly project at all. Exaggerated charges. Stuff make many mistakes in fixing up flaws in the bookings and you end up paying for it. Many people that use that place are cashed up so don’t care about the money that throw at it. They claim that the wave is 12 sec, I think is around 7-9 seconds.
I flew from the Goldie to Melbs/Gunnamatta to visit a friend. The Surf was FUCKIN HUGE FAARRRRKIN FREEEEZING COLD & he tells me, the White Pointers are the size of Hi Ace Long wheel base vans. So yeah, I'm pretty happy with this vid right now, it's worth getting Cold for.
If the wind is out of a different direction I guess it could be blown out right? (Onshore slop.) Imagine a giant, engineered turntable, like the ones in some metro car parks or ones for trains, you could then angle the pool so it is always blowing offshore...?
THIS IS SICK... AND... COMBINE the best of this wave and Slater's wave and twice the size for standup surfers can actually stand up and you are in biz... BUT... SURF RANCH is better from a wave quality standpoint.
