France is probably one of the more neglected nations in War Thunder. The number of vehicles it could receive would allow it to rival even major nations like Russia and Germany, but Gaijin doesn't seem to be all that interested in giving them some variety. France finally received a new ATGM vehicle in the form of the VCAC Mephisto, a VAB equipped with an unmanned HOT ATGM launcher. It should play something like the American M901 ITV, but will it be nearly as good?

That engine noise glitch (the one where there is NO engine noise) has been around since Direct Hit, I've noticed MANY times since that update that sometimes some vehicles will make no engine noise for quite a time.

It feels like it's even worse now, between the two extremes of engine sounds. On one hand you've got the terrible sound mixing where your engine alone makes it sound like there's 3 other tanks next to you, and I swear I can actually hear different parts of the sounds in different locations. And on the other hand, you've got 60% of thr enemy tanks making ZERO noise (neither engine nor track) until they've already killed you and suddenly in the kill cam there's sound. Too many tanks have snuck up on me recently where I normally would have been likely to hear and anticipate them

It happens to me usually atleast once a game. I think it goes away later in the game when everything finally loads. It also doesnt help that my computer isnt the best but its decent. Also direct shit noise

@@khan-artist2443 ye the own engine sounds are super annoying. Every other minute I stop and go "WHO GOES THERE", only to realize it's been my own engine all along. It sounds like it's coming from somewhere else. Particularly annoying when you're near the crest of a hill or the corner of a wall, then it makes you feel like there's someone right behind the hill/wall.

what i dont get is why the WMA301 is at 8.3 and the centauro is at 8.7...... why? can you do a comparison of the 2 because it seems to me the premium chinese centauro gets to be at a lower BR (8.7 is a bad BR in my opinion because in my experience you get untiered to 9.7 9/10 times because of TURMS spam)

Unfortunately because Gaijin changed a lot of the engine sounds, over half of the engine sounds in ETSM don't work. Jack is currently waiting for project files to be released so he can update the mod with a Hotfix

5:28 I hate the new engine noises. Its either no sound until they kill you, making everything (but planes) sound the same, or someone who close to you sound like they're up your ass but there're nowhere near you. I had games with Pz4s sounding like M4s and some low tirs sound like they have a turbine engine.

game bug left the game's audio not capable of playing the necessary number of separate audio tracks. If the limit is 20 audio tracks, you might have 1 per tank/plane, 1 for explosions, etc. If the number required exceeds the limit, you simply won't hear the extra ones. Simple problem, but the developers are russian i guess... hold no hope

i have a idea for the tanks that shoukd be added to war thunder: The citroen 2cv GHAN1 it has a 20mm mg151 autocannon so perhaps a decent low tier french aa and it also was outfitted with the 75mm hesh / he slinging recoilles rifle ( perhaps maybe a good 4.0/5.0 td because of great speed)

Mephisto is *alright* at the end of the day, it's not spectacular but it has a niche and it's nice to have a vehicle like that instead of constantly teetering between useless and broken. It's even appropriately placed in terms of BR unlike a certain other wheeled addition of this patch. G6 is a real head scratcher with that 7.0 rating

@@williewilson2250 Type 75 SPH is a 6.3 as of somewhat recently together with 2S3M and no, G6 is not better as it's both overall less mobile, lacks 360 turret traverse, lacks autoloader and is a target the size of world trade center.

Actually the sight has less depression than the launcher; so sometimes it seems like you can't get a shot, but it works perfectly in 3rd person view

In my opinion I think that the MESPISTO is not a very effective vehicle, Especially in CQC, mostly because of the low armor and mobility. Yes, it can definitely do damage, but in all situations it is not effective because of the slow rate of fire, slow velocity, and low armor. Given that anything has any type of reactive armor it basically becomes useless. Overall it wouldn’t be good compared to other vehicles at the BR, and it is definitely not a good help for the team. But I believe that it is a very fun but annoying vehicle to play. But I definitely didn’t expect to see so many in games.

I just wish it could shoot on the move. They even gave it a stabilizer so you can still guide on the move, but you have to stop first, then shoot, then drive on. If I had a dollar for every time I tried to trash some kid near point blank with a well aimed flick, just to be met with “Stop the vehicle to fire the missile” because I was moving at like 5 mph I’d have at least 6 dollars

Pen isn't everything though past a certain point. Since it doesn't see composite armor, having that kind of performance is mostly irrelevant at 8.3. It's also on a terrible chassis for that BR and has no backup weapons except a little 7.62 MG that's not going to do much. The Ratel 20 is a far better vehicle, and the ZT3 should go down in BR.

Why does it have reload counter after every single atgm launch? What does it reload? Those are 4 rockets ready to fire, aren’t they? You should be able to launch them like mlrs or bmp-2m.

Yes, CV90105TML shouldn't have a stab. Can't wait to hear the shrieks of horror when the Swedish mains finally figure that one out._ xD P.S. the only stab'd versions with TML Late are Vextra and AMX-10RC. And no, it's not the version with TML Early you're likely familiar with, which also wasn't stab'd. P.P.S. Mars 15 only mounted TML Early btw, and AMX-10RC never mounted TML Mid. So that actually wouldn't work in those cases anyway.

If you want another "situational" vehicle, try the Khrizantema. If you get good at the radar guided missile gimmick, you can use it to outright cancel enemy mistakes like pushing through open fields.

Using this thing to delete Chinese wallet warriors in the 8.0-9.0 BR range is just amazing. *Somebody* has to do something about those rampant PTL02s and WMA301s, which could both probably go up +1 in BR and be fine

Hey spookerson, I know this will sound as annoying as all the other comments asking "hey do a video on X tank" but if you get the time can you check the Olifant Mk 2, it gets gen 3 thermals for both gunner/commander and it gets the dm43 at 9.0 and it has only been going to lower bRs since its release. ALOT of content creators say its bad yet its the only tank I've gotten 2 nukes in.

I love the Mephisto for one reason: It is named after one of the German devils (Mephistofoles) in the legend of Faust, which is funny enough. But coincidentally one of the first ever German tanks, an A7V was also named Mephisto and was captured by Australians at the battle of Villers-Bretonneux, which is now one of the last surviving A7Vs in the world. Never thought I'd see the day the French named something after not only a German legend, but after a German tank that was involved in a war on their home soil.

What kills me as a actual driver of this vehicle (not the rocket launcher variant though) it's that it is called a VAB and not a VCAC. I reckon it is supposed to stand as "Véhicule de Combat Anti Char /Antitank fighting vehicle" and is probably a mix-up with a company that was called CAC (Compagnie AntiChar / Antitank Company) and it's ACTUAL designation that stands for "Véhicule de l'Avant Blindé" (Foward Armored Vehicle). It's really not that hard to get it right. EDIT: Also, I'm wondering how the hell the driver is supposed to see where he's going because of the closed flaps on the front that covers the windshield.

Yeah the driver window covers on the VAB's in game have always confused me, how are they supposed to look through? I've seen the inside of a regular VAB and unless the SANTAL and MEPHISTO have some sort of screen with a camera outside it would be impossible to drive

@@moery2435 I never seen those variants in person but I highly doubt it. You can mount a periscope for the driver but to my knowledge it's night vision only.

I swear to god every update that Gaijin puts out, the audio gets even worse. I have my engine volume at minimum and its still deafening. Not to mention the fact that other engines are so loud I can't hear a damn thing. If anyone has any recommendations for audio settings in game, y'all should make a comment about it

I still mad Mephisto didnt got HOT-3 missiles. It can fire them and used them, but Gaijin seem to restrict tandem missiles only to Soviet tree at this BR (Shturm-S have tandems)

@@1999Almaz yes because it can actually be used offensively since you don’t have to wait for you launcher to deploy. Hell once you launch your missile you can even start driving while still guiding it. It’s fuckin 8.3 even in a full uptier you don’t need tandems

It should also be noted that the Memphistos missile are the same way bugged/protected by the Snail like the IT-1. The Ammo in the launcher doesn't explode when hit and you don't lose the loaded missiles if the launcher get's destoyed. Unlike pretty much all other vehicles.

My only complaint for this vehicle after playing it 2 solid months is that its modeled incorrectly in game. Just a 5 minute google search showed me it should have a 320HP engine, better reverse speed, and the ability to fire while in water (splash guards don't even deploy, glitch?), and has a top speed of 110kp/h(68mp/h) that is easily attainable on roads. Supposed to have gen. 2 thermals I think and is .50 cal resistant as its based off the VAB. And can tank larger MGs like the 14.5 and 20mm at range. Still fun to play though, can over pressure a M1 or Leo2 anywhere from the front.

The HOT missile is quite fucky in WT. HOT-1 on ground vehicles has 700mm of pen while on helicopters it has 800mm, you know, the original pen the ground vehicles had. I have no idea where they came up with 700mm but for some reason they decided to do it like this. Anyways I think the AMX-10P/HOT would be better as it was much smaller

The CAS in AB is so bad it was intentionally made that way, you can't mess up so bad by mistake The constant spawn and the fact that only the winning team gets to spawn just exacerbate the difference even more

From the other side, it gives you incentive to win, pay to win and grants you those euphoria moments when you are on the roll. CAS polarizes experience, not outright breaks it. It makes you rage, yet it also makes you stay.

I have uninstalled war thunder as of a month ago. Mostly because gayjin keeps breaking it instead of fixing it, like the servers and the sound bugs, and the constant persistence on br compression. I don't know how a group of people can willfully make a game as horribly put together as WT.

My biggest issue with the French around this BR is vehicles with no stabilizers or armor and truly piss poor CAS. The Mephisto might almost be interesting-ish if weren’t so much like most every other French light vehicle, just another tinfoil RP piñata. It’s only got 8mm of armor and a very crowded hull. That armor leaves it vulnerable to Reserve Aircraft strafing runs and every co-ax MG in the game. Not many vehicles that aren’t open topped have that problem. I’ll probably give it a pass when I get there unless something major changes.

The Mephisto looks very fun for weird hijinks but generally kinda mediocre as a vehicle. Also, I've been experiencing some crazy lack of engine noise bugs as well, its not just you.

the difference between the M901 and mephisto is the M901 has the M113s awful mobility, so much so you cannot go up a minor incline. The mephisto has so much more mobility despite being wheeled

1:42 everyone does. It should be that any high calibre round should crack the damn thing open. HE should demolish it. But that does not happen for some godforsaken reason And for some reason, the engine will rev even if youre stopped. Which if you're trying to be subtle, is the most annoying thing ever. I think ive been killed by that a couple of times already

I beat Mephisto in seconds. He's the easiest of the Prime Evils. Diablo is the hardest and Baal is the most annoying. Oh, wrong game...

They changed the audio and still didn't fix the glitches, they still haven't fixed ghost rounds which has gotten me killed or cockblocked me from at least getting a kill trade many times, and now there's even visual glitches when I change from 3rd person to binoculars or scope and suddenly there's a bunch of tracks glitching in and out of existence around me

i get that bubbling revving in my tam a LOT as well. and on two occasions i was basically parked and trying to hide and it was just letting the throttle stick open and just bounce off the limiter. loud as fuck and annoying. also cover the new russian AA, shits busted, but then again russia getting busted shit every update is just par for the course now

I’m not sure you’re playing this vehicle correctly. No disrespect. The strength of this vehicle is its speed. It can run the flank of a map, set up, fire a few shots and then use its speed to reposition to another area to take more shots. I’ve done this successfully regularly. I go up one side of the map, fire. Kill a couple of tanks and retreat back to the spawn area and then work the other side of the map. The speed makes this a quick endeavor.

Do any stats or modifications affect how accurately the missile will follow your crosshair? When I use this thing the missile wanders all over the place. Usually low and then a few feet left or right.

Everyone sais the regular m60 is bad but I've never had too bad of a time with it. The m48 however is the worst vehicle I have ever played tho. The m46 is way better hands down
