After a year of looking at what seems like a million tents to replace my budget eurohike avon 3, i have finally taken delivery of the mighty elixir 2 today. I got so excited that i actually put the inner up in my lounge to have a sit in it. Lol. I cant wait to get out and about with my new palace. Thanks for the video.

I have Elixir 3 so far quite happy in snow the snow can collapse frame so in snow set it under a tarp I think it is good tent 👍

That’s a good tip. I guess that’s why it’s only a 3 season tent.

@jamieoutdoors sir here in Alberta ( S.W. ) Canada we can get snow in spring and fall seasons where temperature is around -2 C and 1 foot of snow comes down...or higher up on mountains there is snow and lower down it is rain
@jamieoutdoors
@jamieoutdoors Месяц назад
@@rajibjoshi9647 this is something I'm very jealous of. Here we rarely experience snow even though it can be -7 celcius in winter and it rains for over half the year. 😅

@jamieoutdoors I was in England once for 1 week we get full 4 season weather here lot of wilderness open land forests plenty of clean fresh water would call it last haven of mother earth but even here it is not what it used to be flock of tourists inflation economic development etc. but still great the last hold out of nature 👍

Hey Jamie, I love this tent! I think it's one of the BEST LOOKING TENT with all the features and benefits I want! But I was rather surprised you said it's light weight!! Lol I know I love this tent, and am intending to get it, but I am also fully aware this is NOT a lightweight tent!! Lol this is very much in the middle if not on the middle heavier side of weight in terms of what's out there! For ultra light'ers backpackers. Still, it's a fab tent and glad you got it to review!
@jamieoutdoors
@jamieoutdoors 2 года назад
Do you have any examples of some better lightweight examples in the same sort of price range? And size?
@bluebellcrushedvelvet
@bluebellcrushedvelvet 2 года назад
@@jamieoutdoors hey, so I'm not a self proclaimed ultralight'er! I am.in fact on the other spectrum. I like to bring my little luxuries with me if I can! For my 1 and 2nd 5 day trips I carried 16kg max on my bag and it was HEAVY for me! But it was full of food for 5 day! And I carried a really heavy tent! Not for hiking at all! Lol So tbh, for the price that it is, and the design, colour (I love the colour more stealthy) and the great space and organisational bits to it, is the cherry on the cake for me. I can't find anything better than this! You'd have to spend more I'm afraid! To me, I'm willing to make the sacrifice on a bit more weight (it'll still be an upgrade for me from the tent I currently have, in weight design, everything!) To have something that fits me and what I want. But this is all subjective! What I find the most appealing and what I want from my tent is not going to be the same for everyone. Hence many people go for lighter tents that I don't like the design of. My only other recommendation would be: Durston x-mid pro 2! Sorry for long reply!
@jamieoutdoors
@jamieoutdoors 2 года назад
@@bluebellcrushedvelvet not at all an issue for the long reply. I love the level of detail. It’s also perfect for me and thanks for the recommendation of the other tent. I also want to test a few light weight and cheaper vango tents. I’m also not in the ultra lightweight category. For me this tent is perfect. 😄

@@jamieoutdoors no worries haha I was trying to be as concise as possible but felt like rambling lol 😅 So for me, as a solo female backpacker, I really do want to be comfortable! So I got a lovely inflatable pillow, a whole sleeping clothes (i really didn't want to have to sleep with dirty hiking clothes, some ppl can rough it, I draw the line!) My coffee espresso maker (wacaco GR mini - 600g!! That's a lot I know!) And other things!! 16 kg is considered quite heavy, imo. But for us beginners, all our equipment is more budget and therefore cheaper but HEAVIER!! And it takes time to upgrade bit by bit. For me yes I want to invest into this lovely MSR elixir 2 tent and then I believe I'll be good for the tent for a no. Of years!! Providing I take care of it. I really do love literally everything about it, other than the weight. As I've done extensive and passionate research to try to find the best, most livable, lovely natural colour (unlike some gross flashy horrid colours like yellow or neon gree! I.e. Nemo hornet 🤢) most organisation and clever intentional design, this is it for me. I don't think I will feel the need to upgrade for a while after. I'll just have to cut my weight down in other ways. Cut down as much as I can but still be comfortable!! You know? Honestly I really really want to recommend you this pillow! To me it is the best pillow and nobody is talking about it in the hiking community! ! It is just so plush and made my sleep heaven!!

Great video! It was really nice getting a view inside the tent. What size (litres) compression bag did you use for this tent? Cheers.
@jamieoutdoors
@jamieoutdoors 2 года назад
Hey, thank you. I just had a look online and they don’t seem to sell them anymore. I would just trial and error it. I’ve also seen people take the poles and pegs out and house them separately on the outside of the bag. Then I suppose you could get a really good stuff sack for the central bit. The only thing I’d say is when rolling it up make sure to not crush the sticks that hold the air vents out. I’ve bent mine a few times by accident

I had one of these ,don’t really rate it tbh,had bent poles in the wind,changed to a vango mirage pro 200,better quality hh is higher,geodesic,so much more stable in the wind,and its cheaper,everyone has different experiences,mine wasnt good,wasted money for me.

@jamieoutdoors 2 года назад
Thanks for the comment. That is a bad experience! Glad you found a better tent for you. Maybe I should try that one in the future! I’ve had it in pretty windy conditions like 44mph winds. I’d be pretty annoyed if the poles bent too. What’s the structure like in the vango? The msr poles definitely tend to flex in strong winds.

@jamieoutdoors
@jamieoutdoors 2 года назад
What is the difference between the 2 and the hubba hubba?
@DannyMacDJ
@DannyMacDJ 2 года назад
@@jamieoutdoors the hubba hubba has only the 1 door & is smaller i believe where as the NX2 has 2 entrances & weighs about 1.7kg. Also the acces2 has the extra crosspole that goes right down to the ground giving it more stability to take a greater weight capacity in snow. Hope this clears it up and make sense
@jamieoutdoors
@jamieoutdoors 2 года назад
@@DannyMacDJ oh awesome. I’ve had a look online and they’re both a bit more expensive. I’m new to wild camping, so stilling testing out kit and waiting to afford new kit. I might give the vango mirage 200 a go too, it really doesn’t break the bank either. Although, I haven’t done any winter camps yet, so maybe the more expensive MSRs would be good for that then! 😊
