Is the NEW 2020 BMW M235i Gran Coupe a TRUE performance sedan WORTH the PRICE? 

Okay. I own this car. My other car is a 2018 M3 Comp. This car, I don’t care what anyone says, is an absolute blast to drive. It’s fun. It’s fast. I’ve been 160 in this car more than a handful of times (speed limiter) and let me tell you, it sticks to the road at those speeds. I’ve made charger RT owners cry. 718 owners weep. The stock exhaust, the torque is awesome. You feel it. I was extremely hesitant on getting it, and I don’t regret any of it. Such a blast to drive

Just purchased this a M235i Grand Coupe in Australia, upgraded from a F30 3 series. They come standard standard with heads-up display and headed seats and steering wheel. Absolutely love the car, didn't have to do any changes to this one, sounds great looks great and performs great.

Yes it is a true BMW. I have a 2021 M235 and love it. Most of these critics can't afford more than a M235 so they become critical. because it can't handle or drive like a 14K to 50K more BMW.

I bought a m235i just a few weeks ago and I can tell you it's actually a great car. Some of the complaints you mentioned are not present as far as lacking heated, ventilated seat and head up display I have it all that. Granted it's not the traditional rear wheel drive I had before but definitely a far better car than the equivalent Mercedes which feels really horrible and more like a Renault Megane or Nissan Pulsar. The m235i xdrive beats all its competitors without question. 👍

My BMW M235 and most BMW's come with Heated seats and a heated steering wheel. It's a $500 option. GMAFB

People, it's 48k for a BMW, not a honda not a kia not a toyota, YES for the size it seems expensive, but i just picked mine up 2 months ago and came from a 2020 STI, the quality of the lowest class of bmw is amazing, interior is high quality(i got red interior) , compared to other cars in its class(excluding benz or audi) it's a night and day difference , 306 hp, awd(front based), luxury interior , M tuned with a nice burble map, 0-60 in 4.4 seconds, launch control, quick shifts, big blue brembo brakes, twin power turbo, if you think abt it, you're getting a lot of car for 50k, not to mention the engineering on bmw you can't compare to your "kia forte", so before you guys judge it, go drive it, i agree tho rear end is hideous IMO although it grows on you in person, pictures make it look so horrible! but once you drive it you see how fun this little toy car is, although this say below 45k would be more of a reasonable price, maybe 40k max! lol

Not sure about the 2020 but the 2023 has a limited slip diff as well as heated front seats. Test drove one and fell in love.

im seeing alot of hyundai/kia design elements, from the lip on the trunk(2020 elantra sport lip) the wheels also kind of look like the 2017 elantra sport wheels design

At the tip of the turn signal stalk there should be two buttons (see @ 12:08). Pressing one of them will cycle through the display info. You had it set on trip distance which puts the gear number at the bottom. One of them shows the drive mode in nice big letters (i.e D, R) and in manual mode it will say M1-8 depending on the gear you're in. I have the same setup on my X3 M40i

I like it, but question the value aspect. I think it actually looks nicer than a S3 or CLA and those cars have been running FWD-platforms for awhile and do seem to sell well, so not a surprise BMW wants a slice of the action. The front & side profiles are great, but the rear decklid is too high IMO.

For a 51k msrp, you can get something better used with a few thousand miles.

How does it compare to the STI acceleration wise ? Seems rather sedated from your reaction. Kinda sounds underwhelming. Nice work Capt. Content. Does it feel front drive biased ? Would you go with the MB CLA 35 or the BMW ?

51 thousand dollars? For that kinda scratch you get a used merc amg or even better Infiniti q50 s sport with 400hp and more reliability or lexus fsprt with 430hp

Looks like a knock-off BMW from the front, ugly from the back. I'd rather get a Kia Forte GT that has heated and ventilated seats and a nice infotainment system, plus still fun to drive with more room in the back and save around $24k!

BMW is getting overpriced with theirs i4 engine with turbocharged. This lose its value in half just 2 years old or hit 70k miles, by then no one wants to buy it, BMW have a problem once hit 70k miles or more, that's y Honda and Toyota low end cars still carry it's value

It will give us as viewers even a better feel and view to really join you in your rides as you smoke the competition and go through these twisty roads. As a millennial, I seek for versatility, flexibility, Mobility without compromising Style (I don’t like SUVs nor Trucks) I believe that IF they would’ve integrated a hatchback trunk (like 4series-coupe) they would’ve catch more attention from the Group they’re trying to get, why? In MY Opinion, hatchback represent mobility, flexibility, HOWEVER, I’m NOT saying by doing that it’s worth $51K. Maybe low-end 40’s WITH great 36mo leasing finance incentives (Young ones don’t really look at price tags, rather monthly) MAYBE just MAYBE it would become BMW-starters and life-long BMW Owners.... MY OPINION, and again, maybe just me... just a thought.

You should compare this to to a fully loaded camry or accord. To see if the price is worth it.

This car looks like a Toyota Corolla, but with fancy German tech. Just like the Toyota Supra and the BMW Z4.

It’s a nice looking car, but as much as I think they tried to make it look like a slightly smaller 3 series sedan, the proportions are just off a little. And while it seems like a nice enough car, and 300 hp for a small sedan is pretty good, there’s just no way it’s worth $51K. Nice review though, Joe!

its a car for rich young kids or family with small kids , in an Emerging market who has no idea what a drivetrain even means.. as long as there is a BMW badge. BMW knows they have launched a shitty product for most of their loyal customers but thats their strategy now. Develop new rich (young) customers in a new market. all makes sense.. the former 1 & 2 series owners now have to move up to 3 which is quite a lot more to spend.. I will definetely go with used cars at the same price.. easily find 3L , even 4L & 4.2 L with exciting features!

I'd actually be more impressed if they left it fwd, dropped alot of weight(maybe 600lbs) and it was easier to maintain outside warranty, also add a nice 6 speed.
