I'm 85 and have 140. That's a big drop to 120. I just wonder if this is another way to sell more drugs. So many drugs have bad side effects.

My high blood pressure was caused by too much wheat,sugar, and stress. I was eating about 3 boxes of wheaties a month with about 4 tablespoons of sugar and milk. I also ate a whole wheat bread.Then got some personal bad news and stressed. My HBP was 180over 90. I quit the Wheaties and switched to monk fruit sweetener. Now when I get stressed I take a deep breath ,hold for 10 seconds release and breath normal for 3 breaths and do that about 3 times. My BP now is 123 over 90. Im 76.

He is saying they didn’t start treating your BP until it was consistently over 140/90 which is correct now they are treating when it’s over 120/80. That is a change.

10 years ago if you checked the guidelines it was there. It seems a bit harder now to find this on the internet. Hmmmm wonder why. But it has been true for many decades that it was normal and okay as you age your numbers go up. The only debate was how far up. One old doctors opinion was take you age and add that to 100 and that was considered what one can expect in the upper (systolic) number. It was only a "rule of thumb" as everyone is different. If you know or can find an old doctor please ask them. They will tell you. I have to disqualify myself here as I am not a doctor and I admit I don't know the whole truth but when I see this type of information being dished out it gives me pause for concern.

Ok hold on wait a minute Dr. Oz. Now, I've been nursing a solid 20+ years & as long as I've been in the field, normal blood pressure has always been 120/80. I can't lie, I immediately got flustered when I saw the numbers in this video, but I haven't watched the video just yet. So I'm hoping that I just read it wrong, bcs that makes no sense at all to me🤷 Newsflash Dr. Oz... Schools are teaching 120/80 as the norm. So I find the video very misinformed.
@cyb5761
@cyb5761 9 месяцев назад
Thank you! I agree. Guidelines have been in place for many decades that say 120/80 is perfectly normal until you are older then expect 140/90 especially if you gain a little weight. Even higher if you're over 60 and it was considered okay. In my youth my resting blood pressure was always a perfect 120/80. What Dr. Oz is pushing is very dangerous and false narrative as far as I am concerned. And this change in standard has been gradual and that signals that it was systematic, planned, and deliberate. In 2021 it was 130/80 now 2 yrs later it is 120/80? And that's considered too high? I say BS.

You can be sure the pharmaceutical companies are behind this. Profits, profits, profits. That comes first. Not people.

It has always been 120/80. But a number doesn’t give you the entire picture of a person. Nobody can have 120/80 all the time. It’s crazy. Everyone would be on pills then. My Bp is never BELOW 120/80. I don’t think anyone can be there especially walking around.

@@tamilynn7218 same. Without my pills I would be much higher. But there’s nothing else wrong with me. I check twice a year thoroughly. Blood. X-rays. Urine. Everything.

Dr. OZ shame on you, the person taking the blood pressure, took it with a drug store electronic device and the cuff over a person with a coat covering the arm joint. This cannot ever produce an accurate pressure reading. PS where did you go to medical school, they need to have better instructions on how to take a proper blood pressure reading.
