iAmCoded - The "ECO" mode isn't really there for you so save on fuel. It's so the M340i owner (It's mostly going to be a bloke. I'm not being sexist by the way!), can put the M340i into ECO mode if the missus is going to drive it :-))... Well... If you owned this gorgeous car, would you want to find out your missus has been driving it in SPORT+ mode and stuffed it? :-))....
Just drove one of these yesterday back to back with a slightly used M3. I'd take this over an M3 in a hot minute. It's that damn good. And I didn't think I would like it. But it's more refined and 95% as fast as the M3. Nailed it.
Huge shout out to Joe Raiti and Raiti’s Rides for awesome, thorough reviews. We ordered a 2021 M340i in Portimao Blue with loads of M performance upgrades today. Thanks Joe!
Best opening I've seen from you yet, regarding their history and trying it into their driver experiences focus issue (not meant to be snarky, truly enjoyed the olening!!) Great video! I'll always be a BMW fan!
i test drove one of these last week and i loved it. the paddles are kinda small and i wish they were a little stiffer, i was worried that if i had my fingers on them they'd trigger by accident. otherwise i was shocked as to how much fun and how quick the car was. i tried a 440i right afterwards which was the car i came initially to see and the M340i was far and above the more fun car to drive and they come in around the same price point so i'm pretty much off the 440 and only looking at this one.
Ceramic tint the windshield to solve the dash glare issues. 75 or 85 % tint would help reduce the sun to the dash and behind the front windows when the rest of the car is already tinted. For sun ☀️ belt states it will help keep the car a bit cooler as well. At that percentage its also not noticeable or hindering at night.
I actually fell in love with this car after watching this video. Great content, I am looking to potentially lease this car next year. I’m also wondering if I should go with gray, white, or black? I am definitely going with the black rims.
U nailed this video, love the commentary and im a huge bmw fanboy,i could listen to that ecceleration all day long.BMW just knows how to do inline sixes.
The BMW inline 6 specifically (as opposed to a V-6 or a horizontally opposed six cylinder) is just magical in opinion. I hope BMW can recapture their essence.
Fast Forward a year later and I have this car LOL. Custom build .I got it for 59k after discounts nearly loaded. Lucky for me I got mine back in November right before prices went crazy.
You complained the traction is over eager and doesn’t allow enough play, I agree. While in sport press the traction control button down once. It will turn on Dynamic traction which lets you have a ton of fun up to and including doing doughnuts. However all the stability control functions remain on.
I am not a BMW fan and I am not an automatic transmission fan...and yet I really like this car. Looks good. Sounds good. Awesome steering wheel. Appears to be a very satisfying car to drive. The wheels are some of the coolest OEMs I've ever seen (even though they will be murder to clean even with a Speedmaster.) It's like they took the 18+ WRX STI wheels and took them a step further.
If combined with the adaptive drive, the car is the perfect shapeshifter. Changing from a “normal”daily car, to a car who is managing itself very well on the track. It is not M3, but with a significant price difference that would be an insult to M3 owners. Not a full M car but deserves the respect from all car enthousiasts.
My buddy just got one. And i beg to differ about it not being a true M car. Yes its not a 100 percent and my car. But its very close to the m3, like 90 percent of an m3. I would absolutely take this car over an m3 some may say im crazy but o well. my buddies was an xdrive. So maybe thats why i think the handling is so friggen close to being as good as an m3. This thing legit handles like its on rails. The car itself in awd form gives you an extreme amount of confidence in high speed corners. Lets just put it this way. The average person would puss out before even hitting half of the cornering speed that this car is truly capable of. I will be buying one as well its truly best bang for your buck performance car in my opinion. But im a car nut. And i have a thing for bmw’s in general...
Joe, always enjoyed your reviews. Your unbiased opinion on the cars you’re testing is highly appreciated and it does give potential buyers an in-depth understanding of the vehicle you’re reviewing. One point I’d like to make on BMW handling - you’re right, it’s less communicative then before; but I don’t know if you’ll agree with me on this: it’s NEVER gonna be the same again because electronically assisted steering is prevalent amongst ALL the automakers. In all fairness, You can make the exact same point on Porsche cars too.
16:49 We tested drive 330i today (in California), and we were also blinded by the same reflection from the silver above the AC outlet. It is not possible to see the center screen when that happen. And, kind of dangerous.
Beautiful car. Actually like the all black look and recently took a look at the new lineup at the Dallas BMW dealership. Some awesome cars. Anyhow I’m getting a car tomorrow that Joe reviewed. Really looking forward to it so had to tell someone.
Raiti's Rides Thanks Joe. She loves them. Actually when we met her daughter needed a car so I said give her yours as I’ll give you my Q60S. If that ain’t love I don’t know what is. Loved that car.
Raiti's Rides Ended up getting the gold edition Red Sport 400 Hundred. Love it. Now going to get it blacked out on the chrome parts with glossy black wheels.
@@Karl51729 this is what they said Hi Andres. Your M340i has been produced, but has not shipped yet. This means that when your car has completed production it goes through numerous quality checks then it goes to the port in Germany. Then it goes into a holding pattern until there are enough cars to ship. Until the ship is full then it will set sail in this case to the Port of Galveston. We will only get notified when it gets shipped, and not until then. So, it will stay in the ‘Produced Not Shipped’ position. When it is shipped you are looking at app. 3 weeks before it gets to Galveston. Will keep you updated. Thanks.
They did a good job with this one. Looks wise its better from the front then the new M3 and not bad performance. This vs the new Acura Type S would be pretty interesting match up.
It’s better. As we now know, the new redesigned BMW’s are hideous. You don’t need anymore power than this for daily driving. The M cars are for track use not a main vehicle. This car also has AWD and so can be enjoyed all year long.
I’ve owned both, the new m3 is fantastic.. but honestly, I really enjoyed the m340i. I had it tuned with bolt on’s, was a blast.. You’ll be happy with either, I do think the m340i really wakes up with an MHD tune though
I love the 3 series, and Im glad BMW is going back to that driver engagement side of their cars~ I just wish the M3's front grill was like this G20 3 series, since it looks soooooo good. Why couldn't BMW just take this grill and use it, because this is so much cleaner~
You make so many mistake. That grille is not standard on m340. It is black 330 grille that just they happen to put it on this car after delivery. The standard is the mesh grey grille. The rear USB port is USB C not micro USB. Also forgot to mention the rear diffuser, spoiler and that 20 inch wheel are dealer install options not standard. The headlight is not blackout...
Thanks for all your hard work Joe and Lori! Yall helped me realize that any newer BMW would be a great purchase. So I found an angel eyed red on red F30 335i for a great price and overall value. ZF8 speed, twin scroll turbo 3.0L I6. Technology package including big infotainment screen and heads up display. Most think it's brand new in my area lol. Very beautiful car. I will keep it forever. There will be a new convertible BMW or Merc coming soon to the collection.
Germans always make top end quality cars with interior , exterior and engine, while American sports cars are focused on 0 to 60,power, engine noise with absolutely plastic interior , bad designs , extended handbrake and shift handling....
Great videos! Appreciate all that you do for us. Can I ask you, if you had to compare the C43 AMG sedan or this car. Which would you prefer and why? I’m really stumped on which one to lease at the end of this year.
I wish Alfa made a version of the Giulia to compete with this BMW model - a 375-400 HP turbo V6 model. Today's power difference (280 to 503 HP) and price spread ($30k) between the Veloce 4-cylinder and the Quadrifoglio 6-cylinder is too great.
My oh my Black on Black gorgeous beauty. Fantastic looking piece of machine. If I was to get 1 of these I day I would be taking extremely awesome care of this. If u can ever get your hands on 1, Would love to see a BMW 1M 🤝👏♥️👍. Thanks Joe.
jesse shexton lol if your renting a car for a day, why would you only get an M4? Rent an F’n lambo. That is a daily driver for most people that own/lease it.
I like the cockpit,...the i-drive, setup, etc! 1) Heated steering in Florida! LOL! 2) Hmm, is this the 2020 E39?????? 3) A little "body roll" is a good thing,...as it allows one to know the suspension loads up! Amazingly,...you're on roads that I'm familiar with! ;-) Good review,...very detailed!
I strongly believe the BMW is a gifted company and it is still making the Ultimate Driving Machine. What a car Raiti's you are reviewing? No No No It isn't a car! It is a black driving machine. Thank you Raiti's for showing us this nice video I enjoyed it.
He should of got it warm first, but modern cars don’t really have a break in period anymore. Especially performance engines, they’re broken in before the owner receives it. I was told the same by Audi when I bought my TT
Peter Killeen Gonna be real with you, most car salesmen don’t really know shit about actual car mechanics. Dudes just justifying to himself beating the shit out of brand new loaner cars which they all do. When I was test driving my Audi at the dealership, the dude was trying to sell me with a ton of b.s. info that I knew was exaggerated because I researched the car for weeks before actually going to buy it. Also my dad has been in the car business for 25 years (salesman, dealership GSM, etc) has never even done an oil change himself.
I'm buying one tomorrow, as I need a new car and this puppy fills the bill. But for a 'Driver's Car' company, BMW has really fallen down on supplying decent tech info on their cars. I've been searching for weeks for good info, can't find any that's worth much. Their website is just about worthless! Plus the car has WAY too many gadgets, bells, whistles and redundant nonsense! Still buying one though because it looks nice, goes like stink with that sweet inline 6, and has great drivetrain components. Most of the gadgetry I'll never use!
Got my 2020 in Portomao Blue metallic for $61,900 less $4500 BMW incentive rebates. ($57400) Has M Wheel upgrade, Executive Package, Pro Driving package, phone charging system, auto trunk open. I really enjoy this car. Plenty of torque and speed!
Every reviewer keeps repeating, “it’s not even an M car”, but how amazing the car is! Listen, this car is way more “M car” than you’ll need as a daily driver. It’s certainly more BMW that you’ll need on any track day for most drivers...
@@amiller2121 the handling is very good. Sure, it isn’t set up like a real M. 85% of M340i drivers aren’t going to the track or use this car to its full potential. That’s my point! After owning this car for 2.5 years, I have some negatives but overall, it’s a great and fun car.
Now Im driving the M4, before I drove the m240 and there is a world of differences between both cars. Would be the same with the m340 x drive, specially talking abount the precision of the steering wheel ant the diferential? Thanks for your oppinion Freddy
Glad I am not the only one that noticed the hard surfaces for the armrest and center console. For me, I’m not a fan of the seats. The leather felt hard, and the driver’s seat wasn’t the most comfortable for me (felt firm). I’ll also disagree a bit on interior quality. Scratchy material on the visors, and the buttons in the middle console felt cheap (when pushed, the entire panel moves). I so wanted a 330i, but I ended up passing on it for a lot of these reasons (drive was also a bit tougher than I like).
Yes and no... I had the one up on my buddy that has a E46 M3 when I bought a 335i sedan (it wasn’t apples to apples). However, my non sport 335i was quicker... newer car more hp and torque. However, the generational gap is ultimately something that a buyer or enthusiasts may decide on the fly. I always wanted an M3 before that time... my 335i wasn’t an M3, didn’t have the looks and didn’t handle better.
What about heated/ventilated seats? Heated steering wheel?? Apple Car play? For $67K those would be deal breakers! Thanks Joe! (looking to possibly get a sedan to add to our family... so, checking out all your new stuff!)
I have the x3 m40i which is a kick ass for an sav but considering the bmw m3 or m4 as a weekend car and a cheap compact suv maybe RAV4 for daily driver - you should do a segment on 2nd fun or weekend cars!
This car starts at 55K perhaps you should have mentioned this is a heavily optioned one. Also my god how many time are you going to say it’s not an M car. We get the point. However for many people this is the sweet spot for price/performance.
So funny how people say it’s not a real M car well BMW makes there cars they decide what is an M car and what is not. If it has an M on it guess what it’s an M car whether you like it or not. Yes I do know the reasons people say it’s not officially an M car but they are wrong and BMW is right. Need more M parts you can order them.
As a 2011 335 xdrive msport owner this will be my next CPO bmw!! 2-3 years old 35k-38k I’m sure- I wonder if the m package is just visual cues like the prior models or if it has any performance upgrades over the non m340? Oh nm their is no plain 340 hard the 330
Here's a question for Raiti's Rides. Many years ago, I had the glorious pleasure of owning a 330d M Sport Coupe. I loved that car... However, I used to be able to plug in my iPod Classic using a cable. I'd get the full listing of my iPod and it would also charge it up too. So. Can you still do that now or does everything have to be by WiFi as the old iPod Classics do not have WiFi? PS Great video. You went into a lot of detail too. I really do love this car. I has everything I could possible want from a car. Speed, safety (4WD.), comfort, looks et al. :-))... Sadly, I'm in the UK and not the USA but now, I couldn't even afford one due to disability. Ho! Hum... :-((...
I drove the 2021 340iM at a small track near me last week for bmw drive experience and saw the new m3 being released mid September thing drives nice but the 2 series m package drove corners a lot better bc that awd
So I'm guessing that wheels is only for 2020..?? I went to bmw build ur own car on 2021 that wheels isn't available or its not on the options or this wheels is aftermarket one..??
I didn't see a dipstick under the hood, Supra with the same engine has one right? Just watched Papadakis Racing video of tearing the engine down and it also doesn't have a dipstick. Have to drive for a while to know the oil level from the screen inside.
