I don't see how watts correlates with volume tbh. Considering watts is just used as a measurement to show how much power it takes to operate something. Has nothing to do with volume. Like does an amp that draws more power (higher watt amp) always louder than an amp that is a lower watt amp?
I would think that 50watt is 10x louder than 5watt. Plus new technology watts are louder and clearer than they used to be. Roland/boss EX technology uses this.
Just got one of these. I tried the original Roland Cube Street a couple of years ago and while the guitar channel was passable with my acoustic, I hated the sound of a mic running through it. This new Boss Cube Street 2 is massively better! Plenty of power for such a small amp, a warm but clear sound from the guitar channel, and handles my vocals perfectly. I use a Marshall AS50D for gigs where I have mains power, and the Cube Street 2 is up there with it in terms of sound quality - obviously it's not as loud, but plenty for busking in town centres with volume limits.
It looks cool but I love my Cube Street EX it's an awesome versatile amp perfect for busking, small gigs & DJ-ing it's an excellent amp with plenty of volume (power). If there's going to be an updated version of the Cube Street EX some good new features would be a removable rechargeable battery because It's a real pain messing about with separate individual batteries, Some EQ (HI, MID, LO) on the audio device input channel for backing tracks & a master volume level control would be cool.🤞🙏👍🎤🎸🎹🎼🎶🎵
It seems like the new model doesn’t have tweeters. Interesting how does it sound compared to the original Roland from the frequencies response perspective
I use my tablet for the backing tracks. There is a built in eq and i can adjust the low mid and hi no problem. I play basic bass, drums and a tiny bit of keys in my tracks. works great!
There is absolutely no low end even though it has 2 "6.5" inch speakers.. its very disappointing.. and the website also does not give details of frequency response which is very misleading. :(
Is it correct that this amp is also good for an electric guitar as an acoustic guitar. I have-like many of you- an E and a A guitar an would like to have one amp to play the guitar on. But the sound must be good.
Hi jan . Yeah i bught this amp , had it on order for 5 months and yes it sounds good with electric guitar also . It is fairly loud if wanted . It has distortion for electric. I also got the foot pedal and the bluetooth dual . I havent had time to set up and check everything . Lol.....i may post a review/ demo as i couldn't find very many to see on youtube.
The original is way better, this one can not handle my guitar and backing tracks at the same time, my old one has no issue with it. Anyone got a fix for that. Maybe panning to left or right in my daw then redoing it?
@@DAVEBLISS2007 ok I was wondering if that would fix my issue, my backing tracks have a lot going in and the load seems to high for the amp, say hit overdrive in hotel California andthe backing vanishes, doesent do it with the og Roland cube though
As for the volume of both the original Cube Street, and the Cubestreet 2, I have been told to turn the volume down while open air busking. I was so impressed.
Great review! Can I set the looper functionality without the bluetooth adaptor? Can I connect the laptop through the usb cable, instead of buying the bluetooth adaptor?
I suppose you used the power main line (and not the AA batteries) to run your Cube ST2. The Cube ST2 (same as Cube EX) has no ground, so I have the following problem here - electric guitar involved: if I slightly touch the knobs or the strings at half volume, gain, tone control etc. there is always a very disturbing cracking sound in the speakers, because I am probably "grounding" the amplifier/guitar by touching the chassis of the guitar. Well, if I try to touch AND HOLD one of the mentioned guitar metal parts ALL THE TIME while playing, then there is no cracking sound. We have 220V AC main power lines here. Did you have this problem too? Running with the 8 AA batteries, everything is OK. Any suggestions maybe? Thx.
Certainly needs an earth on the power supply you are using. I had similar problem with a Yamaha THR 5 power supply and the Spark 40 original mains supply fixed when they reluctantly replaced it with 3 pin earthed power supply unit.
Do you think this amp could be use on stage in a band straight out to pa and everyone on stage can hear you. Have a mobile phone on stand to make tweeks to effects etc on fly. Thinking about getting one to replace my current busking amp especially if its so versatile.
Looks great ! Just need to check before I purchase, I can have a mic and a guitar plugged in at the same time right ? Also is this battery powered ? Thanks !
I have the first version and yes a mike and guitar and it has 6 AA batteries i use rechargeables ,this one just has more features blue tooth and looper and it's way lighter hope that helps. Cheers.
To be fare I just need something that can be loud and handle my loops without going distorted. The cube street went crunchy unless I had it really quiet but apart from that it was still a great amp
There is absolutely no low end even though it has 2 "6.5" inch speakers.. its very disappointing.. and the website also does not give details of frequency response which is very misleading. :(
Could you please help me to use the Bluetooth module BT-DUAL to backing tracks. I am new in this and I want to learn and apply cause I would try to sing in the streets. I will sing christian songs but I need help on the backing tracks. Can you please recommend me how to down load sounds like you did when you played the electric guitar on the video. If you can help me I will appreciate. God bless
Why is there never enough information about vocal performance? Does the so-called "harmony" function work with the vocal input as well as the guitar input, or do I need to spend another 10,000 hours learning to play guitar to benefit from this feature? Why should I (anyone) pay for all these features I'm never going to use?
If i play an electric guitar through a distortion pedal connected to mic/instrument.. will the amp be able to take it or get spoiled.. in a scenario where 2 guitars are connected :) i hope my question makes sense
Sound quality is considerably better on boss street ii for both vox and guitars, but you do have to run it a bit quieter than the ex (so you don't overload the smaller speakers). Personally i prioritize tone over volume always, but if you play in a loud spot you might reconsider?
Thank you for the video. This model doesn’t have tweeters. Interesting how does it sound compared to the original Roland Street Cube EX which has the tweeters
permission I have the 2,Roland Cube Street and Boss Cube, and the differences are too noticeable, the roland has 50 watts,25x 2 the guitars sound more clear and with more presence, 7.4 kilos and the batteries last 6 hours safely, now the boss cube has 10 watts 5x2 4.4 kilos and is not so sharp or has so much presence
I was very impressed. I hadn't had much time to check the harmoniser out till I accidently turned on the thing...was. The people in the hall were looking for someone else with a wireless mic. 🤣😂
If go from the line out to another source like a Cube Street EX or the to Bose S1-Pro inputs can I still hear the Cube Street II as well? Is the harmonizer a good one for vocals? Please advise
Nice video… cheers😁 I bought the Cube Street last year, very disappointed. The guitar channel has only the volume knob?! There is no gain knob so you are stuck with a lifeless, shitty crunch or a lead with scooped mids and not enough gain…The amp simulations are almost unusable, the EQ knobs work, but there is no improvement… no headroom, very plasticky… I-was very happy with my micro cube, works great…
Great video. I just bought one of these recently and added the FS-6 footswitch to be able to turn the vocal harmonizer on and off. To do this, I have to press the footswitch twice every time to switch back and forth (in latch mode) between harmony on and harmony off. Changing to momentary mode doesn't help. It would be nice if there was a way of eliminating the double press as I do this several times for most songs. The owners manual says I only have to press once. Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong? I love everything else about this amp. Thanks!
I had this amp at home, and what can I say? This amp is a toy. Roland sacrifices materials in order to make this amp lightweight. Sounds boxy, no essence. Lot of features, but didn't convinced me. Nice try Boss (again).
Sounds boxy? Cant agree with you. Im using this amplifier for busking in public. I set the volume at 60% and its defintiley loud enough to entertain people. It has only 10w but the sound is rich and clear
My first one was awesome for vocals. if I play guitar only cool if I sing only even cooler but trying to do both at the same tune effects the tone and is almost not worth doing at least for me. Interesting on what they choose to make it better.
is there any easy way to record what comes out of the line out? how did you record it? did you use a mp3 recorder or something like that? I have heard about an app (cube jam app?) that is able to recored?
Hi thank you for your videos! I just bought my first e-guitar and the cube street 2 and actually also only started my RU-vid channel. I’ve put your videos in my playlist. Not sure how all this works, but I enjoy making those videos. I do have a question though. I am a total beginner on e-guitar and this looper is so difficult to understand. I guess I would need a foot switch for it. Can you recommend something for me. I want to be able to switch on and off my singing and my guitar playing...do I need two foot switches ? Thank you for your suggestion.
For amplified acoustic vocals & instruments (I busk with fiddle) I’ll take the Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge over the Cube Street amps. Much more robust, better quality components, & richer full range sound with headroom to spare. I get loads of compliments when using it. Downsides: 1). all that quality adds weight. I think it’s 21 lbs, so I use a cart. 2). Not as many fx or as much routing.
I have had the early cube street and EX models. I just got this version. It really is new and improved. Ordered the blue tooth adapter before the price goes up like everything else. I do have medium to larger full on PA set ups. This could easily be used for busking no doubt, farmers markets, out door weddings, you name it. Plenty of power and battery life.
@@MichaelStoneham Boss and Roland are the same company. Roland is their brand for mostly keyboard and electronic drums type stuff. Boss is their brand for mostly guitar related stuff. They did a re-brand for this Cube Street update because its primary market is guitar players. If they do any more updates to the Cube line of products, they'll probably have the Boss brand as well.
The EX has way more balls and if you upgrade those speakers (Jensen) you get a lot more from it with more clean headroom. The stock celestian's are only 15 watts and cheap made in China's. I regret selling mine and thinking about repurchasing. Cheers!
