Thanks for watching this one guys, here's some other things I didn't mention in the video which may be of interest: - It comes with a desk/table mount but also T-Slots for mounting on a sim rig. - The pedals it comes with are the two CSL pedals (without load cell). I couldn't mount this onto my Sim Lab rig so I didn't test them. I do have a review on those pedals here (albeit the older version): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7MlNOgqLciw.html - I didn't try the rim on the DD1 wheelbase so not sure about how that would perform. - Prices are all on the website and I've heard from commenters here that delivery is sometimes not available to some places. - My personal recommendation (finances withstanding) is to buy an alternative rim (McLaren GT3) and the load cell pedal. The pedal should be the first upgrade if any though. - Yes, the camera was in 0.1fps again. The camera is fine, I just connected it to the wrong USB port like a total noob. Please ask any more questions in the comments if you have them.
Hey Steve, the low fps from your elgato cam link is because it's hooked into a USB 2.0 port on your computer. Plug it into a USB 3.0 port and that low framerate will go away.
They are so clever, deliveries spring next year, extra preorder payment of 150€ and you get it early. And then just send out review samples where they all say it's amazing
Look how the sim community is being sent with free toys. Guys don't fall for it if you are broke! No matter how much they say they will be honest and unbiased take it with a grain of salt! It's not from their pocket. There is a psychological effect!
@@mazyata9958 yeah I always only go for unbiased reviews, sometimes that can take up to a year if you wanna listen to a real consumer and not get bamboozled
This video just got recommended to me, I never played or touch a driving simulator or even a device for it, and I only play a handful of racing games suchs as mario kart, need 4 speed, trackmania. So I'm surprised that I watched the full video
Received my CSL DD (PC + Xbox Version) by the beginning of November. Personally, I think the Design of the GT DD fits the aesthetics of Gran Turismo as it was designed by Polyphony Digital, but I the rim that comes with the bundle looks rather cheap and plasticky. I am using my CSL DD with the McLaren GT3 wheel for AC and with the CSL Elite WRC wheel for Dirt Rally 2.0. It is an amazing upgrade to anything beltdriven and brings the experience way closer to Driving an actual car. If one can afford it, I would recommend either version of the Fanatec DD wheel for any sim racing fan 👍
I absolutely love my fanatec gt dd pro, I came from a g29 and it's night and day difference. I went with the boost 180 kit and will be getting the load cell soon. One thing to watch out for is the stem tends to work its way out causing your wheel to disconnect but it's a quick fix with a 5mm Allen key
Needed this comment! I'm on a g29 and was wondering if a DD wheel would be worth it. Was considering this wheel as GT has been my main sim game since the GT2 days
@@hotworm22 amazing bro. Keep in mind last wheel I used was Logitech back in the day on the ps3. Mainly got this to save money from going to the track a lot. I’m a track junkie but this is pretty fun and realistic. Im amazed at the feedback it gives I dropped about 1300 -1400 on the GT dd pro with the power add on with express and the next level racing stand. Only down side is wish the wheel is a little small.
@@dusty80 no it comes down to hard work, publicity, and a companies need to advertise their equipment. Steve's content reaches a lot of people that it wouldn't have if they didn't send him it. They lose out a tiny amount of money for potential huge gains
@@dusty80 Actually it comes down to providing years of quality content and how much of a following you have. Steve is a leading light in the world of sim racing. Thanks for the really honest review! I've pre-ordered the premium version but I'll definitely be picking up the McLaren and formula rims in the future!
Just getting into Sim and wanted to start simple and ordered the G29. When I saw this package, I cancelled the G29 order as this platform allows for lots of upgrade. I even decided not to get the PS5 yet, and learn the sim world using my PS4. I already ordered my Omega GT Classic as I can add the seat as I get more into the sport.
I desperately need a wheel now, my 122 day logged on, and I got second place 🥈 with fastest laps and clean race! That will will surely come with a PS4 pad!
If you use the McLaren wheel you need the quick release adapter if you have the boost kit?.... "Gran Turismo DD Pro *It is possible to use High Torque Mode when using a QR1 Wheel-Side (ClubSport Quick Release Adapter)"
Would you say this is a worthy upgrade from a G29? Is it a big enough leap, or would you say to just get a DD1? Edit: Appreciate all the feedback everyone!
@@don_arjun3743 the 8 nm Boost Kit is definetly worth the money. Way more details and more refined Force Feedback. I bought my CSL DD with the 5 nm base kit and upgraded 2 weeks later to the Boost Kit. If you are investing THAT amount of money, the ~150 € more don't make that much of a difference, but the 3 nm extra make an HUGE difference :)
If I'm going to be racing with a wheel it'll be one with direct drive. I have a Logitech G29, which is one of the recommended entry wheel without direct drive... but I hate it. I absolutely hate it. Having a deadzone in the center feels so wrong and it disturbs me enough to take me out of the immersion and drive worse. You can do different things to reduce the deadzone, but mechanically it's simply not up to the task.
The pedals on my G29 have developed a habit of applying the breaks randomly. It’s the most frustrating thing as it can ruin a race. I just upgraded to the DD pro but it broke immediately and Fanatec customer service is terrible. Currently sat looking at the box waiting for Fanatec to email me back
I love watching other peiple coming over from like a t300 expecting gt7 to be so much stronger. No guys gt7 ffb just isnt great we all know it. Now on all other games the dd pro is so good like so strong for s 5nm wheel.
Hi Super-GT, very useful video. I play GT Sport exclusively and use a TG-T II. Do you think I could earn in fun (therefore more sensations) with the CSL DD PRO?
What I understood there is still no full support or this wheel... game with dedicated support will be GT7. I'm tempted to get this one and sell my T300 (which would be huge upgrade)
SuperGT, I know you’re into sim racing. However do you know if the fanatic DD pro works with Snowrunner on the PS5? Wanted to order it for GT7, but would be great to know if snowrunner is support for those slower times in life.
Just ordered my GT DD Pro Premium bundle looking to upgrade from my Playseat evo to a better rig due to flex & new set up being DD any recommendations ? TR80 ?
Nothing can ever compete with the chad that is the Wireless Xbox 360 Wheel, perfect for flinging at walls or out the window into the shadow realm for when you also get sent to the shadow realm to meet Barry Arr.
I was so hyped for it when Forza Motorsport 4 came out, got it, and i only ever used it twice. i swear it prayed on young gamers with no understanding on driving!
Hey I had that wheel! I finished Racedriver Grid, FM4, Ridge Racer, Burnout, and Midnight Club LA with it! Was a hell lot of fun while it lasted. My 2nd gaming rig after the Logitech Driving Force (PS2)
i think it's ugly but the functionality of having the individual buttons to control assists and other aspects is awesome! They did great with that aspect.
We can swap the wheel out in future, ice been waiting to get a dd wheel for console. If i was more tech savvy i would just buy a computer set up but i truly don't know anything.
@@Super_GT well the part that the gas mix thingy is now also click up and down and not a spin thingy is really annoying ... on the tgt you could change from fuel mit 1 to 6 within like .2 seconds .... now with the clicking it takes so much longer
I just upgraded form a 150 to a csl DD and it’s awesome! So much more feeling. But yea it is costs so much money, if you really like sim racing it is a great investment. But you need a good rig don’t bother with a playseat challenge or something
@stewiegriffin I use a T-GT on a desk that makes the screen goes shakie shakie, so you dont exactly need a racing rig. But I do understand where you are going with the comment :)
@@stewiegriffin8696 i race in a playseat challenge with a csl dd and VR, and its fiiiine. Sure you lose some fidelity to the flex of the seat but it is still really good.
Didn’t have anything more than a controller before I bought my dd, couldn’t be happier. Racing is a whole new experience now. You can feel the slip, and the road it’s so cool. Thanks Fanatec
I ordered it and I'll almost certainly be returning it...as they have ruined gran turismo. I still cannot believe they want 40 real world dollars for one car.
Hey GT, been watching you for a couple years now and I want to say I've seen a REAL improvement in your driving, both on the track, and in game over the last year and half. You've definitely gotten more aggressive, and comfortable with your skill and track knowledge! Keep up the hard work and intense focus and I look forward to watching you into the future. Btw you seem to like the wheel, you're driving hard with it, and I've heard nothing but great praise about it during your video.
I've been using a G29 for years and a G27 prior to that. I pre-ordered the GT DD Pro Premium bundle with the power boost / brake peddle upgrade and I added their shifter. Absolutely can't wait, I've been wanting to upgrade to a DD setup for a long time but $1,800 for the podium base and F1 rim that is compatible with PC/PS is just out of my price range. I'd like to get a McLaren GT3 wheel sometime but as far as usability goes for PC and PS, that GT rim looks very solid. Thanks for showcasing it a bit, just wish you had used the pedals.
Me too but ive only been using a G923 wheel for about 6 months. I nearly went for the upgraded kit but i am in Australia so i thought i would start off with the start up set up just until i know exactly how things work.
I have been using the G29 for 3 years. I bought the 8nm bundle with the basic pedals and sell the pedal since I bought V3 pedals a few months ago and love them when using with PC. I just can't use the pedals on PS5 yet until I get the Fanatec wheel base since you can't mix and match with the G29 unless you use drive hub which I didn't feel like investing in since I was just waiting for this wheel base. I can't wait until March. I am probably gonna get the McLaren or F1 wheel as well.
@@kylerobinson6102 Hey man! Yea, for my specific situation and preference, I have been wanting a direct drive wheel and a set of pedals with a QUALITY load cell brake for long time. But I also needed the entire setup to be compatible with PC & PlayStation without being over $1,500 USD. The only pitfall to the Trustmaster for me is that it is not direct drive, it uses a dual pulley system so I don't see it being a worthwhile upgrade from my Logitech G29. I've looked at Thrustmaster and Fanatec extensively over the years and the reviewers I trust typically put Fanatec on a whole other level. I really like the PS wheel included with this Fanatec GT DD Pro bundle also as it incorporates elements directly from Gran Turismo and it's more of a normal style wheel. I typically play Gran Turismo on PS and ACC on PC for racing but I also play American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator so I don't prefer to ONLY have a full blown racing style wheel. However, Fanatec offers additional high quality quick release wheels which is another reason why I chose them and now I am looking at buying the Fanatec McLaren GT3 wheel. Also, Fanatec software tuning looks quite nice! hope this helps! Cheers!!
Why didn't you mention how lackluster the force feedback is in GT7? The wheel is fine, boot up ACC and you'll enjoy it. In GT7 the FF is so weak and unintuitive it's kind of pointless. Honestly, I don't see how you're playing this every day with this terrible FF and not saying anything about it.
My aunt just bought me the Thrustmaster T248. Being able to adjust wheel rotation, and force feedback during a race is Amazing lol. The pedal set is pretty awesome too. Sure it's a budget wheel, but doesn't seem very budget lol. Minus the plastic lol.
We wish we could equip our pilots with some of these! Some of us still race using the DS4, but those things in Brazil are so expensive! If we get some sponsors one day, who knows...
Do you know what I think, Fanatec give us an honest date for the purchase of DD1. By the way, the steering wheel looks ridiculous, something that logitech has thrown together.
I don't get how anyone thought that wheel rim was a good idea. is it something about playstation that justifies this weird aesthetic? cuz pretty much everyone seems to hate it a lot...
Money can buy happiness and here I'm still using logitech G29, since I dont have that much money to buy it bro 700 euro for the basic😭😭I will buy when the price of this new wheel goes to $100, then I'll buy it🤣🤣
@@pherron7471 yeah but I don't want to pay for a rim and pedals I'm never going to use. Definitely will be looking to buy when the base is available on its own though
Hi Steve, is the dd1 worth an upgrade from the dd pro, and what do you think of clubsport v3 pedals over the csl's with loadcell? had the dd pro for a few months now. .. p.s. love the nurburgring trip video's, brings back lots of good memories ;)
I bought one and was so excited about it arriving. I opened it today and when connecting the pedal to the base the post snapped off rendering the whole thing useless. A quick Google reveals this is really common as the port is only connected by a small piece of solder. Fair to say I’m devastated. I’m hoping their customer service is good as I paid a lot of money for something that looks to have a basic design flaw. I’ll update this comment with how Fanatec respond as a lot of people will watch this when considering buying one
Update. Still haven’t heard anything from customer service. No phone number to ring and live chat on website just told me to wait for customer service. Not good so far
5 days have passed now. Just had an email saying they will pass it to their technical support team who will get back to me. No indication of when. This is shocking service
@@MrGulyo just be really careful with the sockets on the DD box and pray that you never need to contact Fanatec as their customer service is shocking. I’m still waiting to hear from them
I'm starting to feel a lot of chatter in my T300RS after its 5-6 years of service, and it's time to replace. I think I'm pulling the trigger on the Gran Turismo DD Pro immediately after watching this video.
Fanatec mimics what software publishers have been doing for a while: Create a product, cut a big chunk out of it and sell that as an upgrade, add on or in this case a "booster kit".
Maybe its smart idea to say that you have a Fanatec affiliate link in the description? That you'll get a commission when people use your link to buy. I'll apologized in advance if i missed that part
My main wheel atm is a Sparco TS-XW racer (have a TX as back-up) which is a great wheel but my T-300 shat itself and I haven't had much luck with the 2 Fanatec wheels I've had in the past. I loathe racing with a controller and both my wheels are PC/Xbox only so I'm wondering whether getting a $1700 AUD wheel for GT7 (although it would be an upgrade for my PC too) is worth it. Is the jump from TS-XW to this, THAT big of a difference or am I better off racing like a pleb in GT and not worrying too much about a slight upgrade for my go to sims like AC?
OK ... first things first : Sorry Steve, that I've only just seen this video of yours !!! (8th September 2023 !!!!) Now down to the "nitty-gritty" : what do you think of the pedals ? I have always (since I got into "sim racing" in the '90's) had Logitech gear & am still using a G29 but as I have now had to move my Mother in with me & the only room is where I do my racing having a noisy Logitech G29 clattering away (because of the gear drive) is no longer an option, hence I am looking for a DD setup. But, as I'm 59 next month & no longer do as much racing as I used to, I don't feel like spending 2k+ on a setup if i don't need to, hence : is it worth going for the V3 pedals instead of the CSLs (that come with this bundle) & just add the LC Brake pedal ? 2nd question : How do those TINY LITTLE paddles feel ? They look to be about 1/2 the size of the paddles on the G29 & I LOVE the size of the G29's paddles, hence I'm a little concerned about the DD GT ones. 3rd question is about the noise. Is it noisy at all ? Obviously there are no gears clattering away like the G29 has & there's no active fan humming away either, so ... is there any noise at all ? How noisy are the paddles shifters ? The only other thing making me hesitate is that the GT wheel rim isn't LEATHER like the Logitech rims have been for DONKEY'S YEARS (I think I'd have to go back to the Logitech Driving Force EX to go back to a non-leather rim ... & that would be ???? 15 years ago ?) hence I'm surprised Fanatec are messing about with a non-leather wheel rim for ANYTHING !!!! Hope you can find the time to answer these questions for me. PS Good luck this weekend in Germany Steve, hope everything goes well in the 12 hour race (I believe you're taking part with Jimmy & Misha, or am I wrong ?)
@superGT you just casually mentioned something noone else has mentioned haha 4:16 the extra buttons will help out so much. Your the first person I saw demonstrate them being used.
If you were on Radar and used the direct buttons to change Fuel or Break Balance, would it automatically go back to display Radar after like 1-2 seconds, or would you need to manually step back onto the Radar display?
@@Super_GT not ideal but definitely better than previously. Hope there will be more button and UI customizations in GT7. Will wait upgrading from G29 till then. Cheers!
Is it possible to map Mclaren GT3 V2 analogue paddles to handbrake AND nitro ? platform: PS5, game: GT7 Im looking this answer from everywhere. I have asked directly from Fanatec. AND i still dont have answer.
wouldn't that mean you get more? never used either of these wheels but from what I understand the DD1 and CSL DD are pretty similar in many ways, main difference being that the DD1 has more torque. like I said I haven't used em but from the reviews i've been watching the DD1 certainly isn't 3x times as good as the CSL DD
Just got the GT dd pro and new v2 pedals. Upgraded from the old v2 pedals and a csl elite. Only had it a day or two , only managed a couple of hours, not quite used to it yet but could immediately feel a better sense of where the limit of grip was. Felt I could push the car more as I had more information from the wheel. Took me a couple of laps and I was within a few tenths of my pb times in time trial. Can tell it’s far more detailed, just need to get used to it to get back up to pace. This is my third wheel and similarly when upgrading from my g29 to csl elite it didn’t immediately make my pace better but drastically improved my consistency. Which in racing is almost as important as pace itself.
Sold. Pre-ordered. I'll get it sometime in very late March to early April. Maybe. Also bought a nice cockpit. Look forward to tutorials how to properly set it up and really dig in.
Mate your very good, I wish I could rac like this, I just bought my first wheel G29, I don't have the reflexes like you do but I have always loved GT. Is I was thinking of the Fanatec but perhap in a few months so I can get used to racing with a wheel. The G29 is good but frustrating the wheel is so small, it's annoying. What are your thoughts and recomendations.
So hey. I'm one of the guys that mistakingly bought into the thrustmaster ecosystem and my next upgrade will likely be this set up but with the v3 pedals. My question is, do the rumble packs on the pedals work on say an Xbox, and do they really make a difference? I've always thought I needed some kind of feedback in the pedals, and I'm hoping this works.
I ordered this wheel more than a month ago! Still have received nothing, the ups label is created but nothing is shipped. When you call the fanatec offices there’s no answer and no answers to my emails. Pity the website advertises the product is shipped within a week. Zero customer service be aware
a bit too late for this question but is it miles better compared to logitech g29? as thats what i am on but i really want upgrade but i dont want to splash 1500+ pounds so am looking for a DD wheel which i can afford :D
That's cool what they did with the buttons. Glad to see it was more than just some software compatibility and actual, beneficial features. But it's still stupid to me that they charge $150 for a, probably, $5 power supply to unlock the extra force. Seems like a predatory move. Also the "preorder" fee, as in paying more to get it earlier, seems really strange to me. What is the extra cost to ship it early that it is an extra $150?
Those bells and whistles on this wheel are absolutely useless to me…I race 100% in VR…on the other hand, DD is far superior to belt driven for touch and feel
