What a great review! Y'all are getting SO good at story telling! Gorgeous shots...it was fun riding along with the paddleboards! And, of course, I always love the food and drink reviews! 🙂
Thanks, Rhonda. It's definitely something we're working on, and we're glad to hear it shows! We'll have another paddle-boarding adventure coming out this weekend... and of course more food and drinks as well!
Glad you made it to our neck of the woods. I live on the Santa Fe near the 47 Bridge park. I am so happy you got to visit the area. I have been around this area for over 28 years.
We were so happy to make it back to this area to, Jimmy. We had visited a few years back, but that was when our channel was just getting started, so we didn't film too much of it. If we could, we'd be visiting a different spring every day during the summer. It's by far the best place to be on a hot Florida summer day!
Hi everyone! Thanks so much for checking out Gilchrist Blue Springs with us! We know we shared the good, the not so good and our thoughts in the episode, but what do you think, is Florida's newest state park one of its best? Also, would you hike on the trail full of the giant spiders? Let us know 😁
Wow! Love that beautiful blue water! I can't believe the water was so cold. And what a peaceful paddle board ride! I'm in love with this new state park. Looks like a fun one. Nice crib as well!
My wife and I love you two. We are looking to live in Florida in our retirement years and watch your videos to check out all the Florida areas. You two cover it all. We vacation in Florida every year and so far love the mid west area. Please keep it up!
Thanks so much for taking the time to write this incredibly kind comment! We hope your retirement isn't too far off. We can't think of a better place to enjoy it than here in Florida!
Hey guys! We were just there the second week of July to check it out. We were in the area visiting many of the various springs to see where we may/may not want to swim/kayak in the future. Yes, the road back there was BUMPY! We visited during the week and it was just as busy as your day. Something for people to keep in mind. It was beautiful but we found it slightly crowded, especially for a weekday.
Yeah, we're guessing that if you were to visit on a weekday during the cooler time of year, it might not be so busy. But we enjoy the springs the most in the summer when it's too hot to do anything else outside. We went to nearby Poe Springs on a Sunday and there were only a handful of people there. We loved it!
I love that place. It used to be privately owned. I remember hiking the trail and snorkeling all the springs back in 2012. I was there recently as 2020 and rented a kayak and went to Poe Springs and back. I love Rum Island. The Santa Fe is a springs hotspot. It’s like a smaller version of the Suwannee. There are 1,100 springs in Florida from state parks to being in the remote wilds. Look forward to the next video
We made it to Poe a couple days later but didn't make it to Rum Island, although I'm sure we'll get there sooner or later. We really can't think of a better way to spend a hot summer day than on those cool clear waters!
@@Explorcation Yeah, you’ll did great. Going into a spring is like natural air conditioning and you feel chilled for a while after you get out as well.
I was just looking at Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens but wanted something else to visit to make the drive worthwhile. These springs look perfect. I think my inflatable kayaks would be a bit big but those paddle boards look perfect. Not sure “stand up” is for me after watching some locals attempt it. I would likely be in the water rather than on it.
They both have their advantages. SUP's allow you to stand or sit and allow you to see more, but kayaks are faster and don't have a fin and do better in really shallow waters. If we had the space to store them all we'd have two of each. If you're looking for a short but stunning paddle, this park really is the perfect spot.
Those springs look awesome! I'd love to do some kayaking in Florida with all of those nice clear springs all over the place. Keep up the awesome work and have a blessed day!!!
Beautiful springs! I don't think you could pay me to go on the spider trail! And my husband would be a big "nope" with the mosquitoes! 😂I'm the blue cheese connoisseur in my relationship - that dinner looked amazing!
They really were the blues springs we've experienced yet, but we still have a lot more to visit. Knowing that the spiders don't have a bad bite does make me a bit less afraid of them, but if one ever got on me I'm sure I would still have a panic attack!
Great review! I’ve been wanting to check this spring out. You guys should do more State park reviews/guides. Florida has some of the best state parks in the country :) Camping is too hot for us on summer; but rest of the year is beautiful. thanks Jamie and Skylar
We love being out in nature and would absolutely love making more state park guides! If this one (and our next spring video) continue to perform well, then we'll absolutely keep making more of them!
Gorgeous springs! I’d definitely plan on a less popular time though. I feel the same way about them as you do the spiders! 🤣 Btw- those spiders are awesome! I’ve watched them build their webs before and it’s truly one of the most amazing things you’ll ever witness! And besides, they eat all the annoying stuff that chased you off the trail (mosquitos and such)! And Jamie, you have certainly been blessed to be able to stay so lean and still be able to eat the foods you guys do!🙏
It really is an incredibly gorgeous place. If you don't care about swimming in the springs, a weekday during the colder months would probably be a great time to avoid the crowds. We wanted to swim so we just had to show up as early as possible on a Friday. It was great for about the first hour or so! It would be nice to actually camp there though and jump in the springs right at sunrise! We wish we would have known how (relatively) harmless those spiders were before we encountered them, and I think we would have enjoyed them a lot more!
I love blue cheese too! Yum! That dinner spot looked amazing. Food looked filling and well made. We gotta go try that place when we visit the springs too. We haven't vlogged this state park yet, but sometime later this year hopefully. You guys are awesome!
Skylar will put blue cheese on virtually anything! We visited a bunch of springs in this area a few years ago but had skipped this park as well. We're glad we made it back to visit, and we hope you get a chance to soon as well!
Well thank you for the kind comment! I have never done any serious competitive swimming, but I did spend a lot of time at the swimming pool growing up and was on the swim team in middle school. It's nice to know the technique has stuck with me over the years!
Good to know! We don't find them quite as scary now that we know they are mostly harmless, but I still don't think we'll be in too big of a hurry to visit that park!
