If you enjoyed this but are more of a DETAILS person, comeback next week for PART 2 where we will do an in depth review of our experience so far! As always, thanks for watching - Lani & Vedat
@@cjjoe2385mate, are you seriously that upset about it or you taking the piss? Why so angry mate? Sounds as if you have a far superior product, so go and enjoy it - there’s other issues in life you should be angry about , like how much they wanna tax us for having a US truck, rego prices, cost of fuel etc. Go make a video on your truck and show its superiorness instead of being so damn grumpy about an obvious bloody joke. It’s not worth the high BP mate.
I’m not upset, I just think these guys are fn idiots. Many would say these guys have a small pickle because they drive around in a 4wd Ute. I would normally defend them. I would have thought our community would be better than that. I was wrong, there are morons in our community as well.
Well produced video. I've been a Mitsubishi fan for decades and owned Landcruisers but when I'm now looking at upgrading our van and tow vehicle the Ford stands head an shoulders above the rest. They've really considered the needs of towing when developing this vehicle. Happy travels.
Thanks for the positive feedback Damian! Sounds like we didn’t really have to convince you as you were already ‘Team Ford’. But totally agree - they really have done a great job! Thanks for watching.
I cannot believe so many people took this seriously and got themselves in a knot about your apparent "criticism" of their precious tow vehicles. Your take on this made a fun change from the multitude of serious deadpan car reviews and comparisons out there. You seem a lovely fun couple and you have made a great choice with the new Ranger. My daughter and son in law have picked up their new Everest Sport just this week. Beautiful wheels. My wife and I tow a 2600kg van with a 2.8 Prado and we are completely happy with what we have. I wasn't in the least offended. Love your sense of humor. Well done, enjoy the car and van and whatever holiday trips you can manage with that gorgeous little boy of yours.
Hi Ian, thanks for the kind words and for watching. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I’m sure your daughter and son-in-law will be very happy with their purchase. Wishing you safe and happy travels!
What a load of rubbish. If you tow anything 3.5t and over, which many vans these days are, the Ranger can't do that. Hence why many choose an American truck. You can't just come out with a blanket statement saying the Ranger is the best option for everyone. As far as small bits of the anatomy, methinks you may know a lot about that.
Ranger GCM is 6.4t. Less the KERB WEIGHT (2.3) =4.1ton - 3.5ton( van) still leaves 600 kgs payload for the ranger. That would suit a huge number of people travelling with a setup. I have always had Toyota but bought the nextgen for that reason and it is the best car I’ve owned. Very happy with it!
I have 170k on my 2017 Everest which is just a Ranger SUV and it's been all over Australia. Towing and not towing. No doubt these new models will be just as good if not better :)
If I were in the market for a new tow vehicle for something around the 2500 kg mark, I'd pick the Defender 110 or the Ineos Grenadier. Mainly because the distance from the rear wheels to the tow ball is short with both these vehicles. The shorter that distance, the less chance of the tail wagging the dog, so to speak. The dual cab utes have very long rear overhangs, so from a stability point of view, I've got my reservations. I'm sure they tow just fine if the weight distribution is set up correctly, but the physics are still there with the tow hitch distance from the rear axle. This is where short is much better than long. 😀
I’ve towed with a Grand Jeep Cherokee, Y62 Patrol, previous V6 Amarok and now a RAM 1500. All have their pros and cons but quite simply the bigger the tow rig, the better and safer the driving experience. Glad you’re happy with the Ranger but based on the vehicles above, and what we have driven, the Patrol and RAM are better and I would place the current Ranger as an equal to the previous V6 Amarok. Oh and drop the references to male appendages cause the people that mention it are most of the time the people with the problem or not getting enough of it.
Great that your Ram is a great towing vehicle, but how does the wife go parking it in a shopping centre or the main street of a country town ? I would love one but my wife puts them in the same cat as a Kenworth Truck , and she is no truckie .
@@ashleyflint3501 she has no issues parking it. Takes it to Eastland and other shopping centres. Our other car is Mini Countryman JCW so if you’re going somewhere with tight parking we take the Mini but once you’re use to the RAM it’s not too bad. Also once you add a bullbar and a rear protection bar to a Ranger, you’re only about 20-25cm shorter than the RAM.
Hahaha, great video. I had a good laugh. I chose my Ford Platinum due to 6400kg GCM, better than most utes. Talking of Landcruisers, you know a standard Hyundai Santa Fe has a higher payload than the mighty standard Landcruiser 200 series GXL ? Pretty bad I reckon.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I didn’t know that about the comparison between the Landcruiser and Santa Fe, just another reason to go with a Ranger I guess!
Thanks guys, very entertaining. I think it really comes down to personal preference as these modern vehicles all have different features and bells and whistles. That said, you haven’t convinced me to downgrade from my 300 series to a Ranger/VW.😂
Well that backfired on you 2. A lesson in how not to produce a decent RU-vid vid. Report the facts, don't bag others when you honestly haven't driven them, or can afford them. Back to the drawing board, and take note of what people say in the comments. 🍻
lol love it We are team Ford Ranger. We did the research when deciding on our tow vehicle and got the Nex Gen wildtrack and it tows our Zone effortlessly. Congratulations guys. 💯💯🤩🤩
great video, focusing some important things to consider that many overlook when purchasing a tow vehicle,,,, i never realised that american ute (ohh sorry i mean truck) owners were so sensitive, ill have to watch my language around them when travelling.😂😂😂
Hey guys. What happened to the next video? I thought it was going to be a week after this one but no new videos for a couple of months. I really enjoy your channel and looking forward to more. 😊
Hey Ken! Thanks for watching, and for the kind words. I think we underestimated toddlerhood and work commitments when we released this video 🤣 i can reassure you it’s on the way, will be out within the fortnight!
@@AnotherAusAdventure ah yes. I know that situation well. Going through it for the fifth time! It gets easier - eventually 🤣 Keep up the great work. Love the channel. Great content. You guys are naturals.
The best Ford I owned was a BF2 XR6 Turbo ute Craig Lowndes Edition… A Ford Ranger is the last thing I’d be spending money on, especially the first model produced. Engine, transmission c, oil cooler issues and an engine originally designed and used in Land Rover TD5s ..
If you have tow vehicle…that vehicle must be capable of towing the gvm weight of the vehicle its towing. Most off road caravans at gvm are more than a ranger can tow. So no, its not the ultimate
Stop joking around and having fun guys… you’ll upset people. Why do people take things so personally? I could just imagine how worked up they get in ‘real life’ if this kind of video gets them all butt hurt and upset. What delights they must be? More important things in life to be cranky about… cost of living, grocery prices, ridiculous mandates over a flu, taxes on their big cars, corrupt government etc. Nah, ya insulted my car and made a joke about penis size. Crazy. Just keep doing you guys… much love, peace!
I like you was very impressed with the new ranger’s spec and power and torque. And went really close to parting with the money UNTIL I seen one pulling into Mitta Mitta caravan park and absolutely loved the look of ranger and van . Going over talking to the driver and letting him know how impressed I was with his rig and asking what he thought of it and had he had any issues with it ? I was shocked to learn he was on the third motor already and had less than 12k on the vehicle 🤬🤯all fixed by FORD under warranty so other than not having his vehicle for over two months he was still pretty happy about the way he was treated and the vehicle abilities. BUT it did make me reconsider my purchase until I’d done my investigation. Then some months later I found another owner in Myrtleford and asked him if he had any issues so far and once again problems after problems,so no I haven’t brought a Ranger, such a shame really because they looked so good. My big concern is what will happen when your warranty runs out or the dealers get sick of repairing them and start to try to avoid warranty claims. Please feel free to make another clip once you’ve reached 50k and elevate my concerns. ❤️🙏👁️👁️😎😇🐕🦺
Definitely will do an update a bit further along in our journey. With the Ranger being the no1 selling car in Australia, there’s bound to be issues with some. Hopefully we’re not one 🤞🏼 and hopefully I can give you some good news at 50kms! Have a great week, thanks for watching.
I agree with you 100% nextgen ranger is amazing I have 2 wildtracks I pull 3.5t van without sweat also a lot of offroad driving, perfect driver assistance technology incomparable to others first 17 months young (30k km) second only a few weeks (1k km) so far both without problems. great cars comfortable powerful (torque 600Nm) and easy to drive that's why it's the most sold car in Au at the moment.😀
We love our next gen WT ranger. Tows our van like a dream and would not swap it for anything. Heaps of torque, great on fuel and comfortable to drive. Plus no issues. Great tow vehicle.
Hey Derek. Thanks for watching. Great to have a fellow Ranger enthusiasts in the comments. I’m curious to know how many kms you’ve done so far? Hopefully can alleviate some of the reliability fears people have! Have a great weekend.
No dramas. I have done 12k and of course no issues what so ever. We did run our motor in till the 3k before we starting towing our van. Our ATM on the is 3250 which includes the 350kg TBW, we done about 7k towing and average around 17L per 100. So really happy with the performance.
im towing a 2.3 T van around Oz with the BiTurbo but would prefer the extra torque & weight of the V6 that is good for up to 2.5T anymore than that i would be going for the wider track vehicles for stability that you mentioned
The V6 definitely tows our van nicely, and with no trouble at all. But it is a composite van, and on the lighter side. Definitely if you have a heavier van, a heavier car would be a sensible decision. Thanks for watching!
Up until 3 weeks ago our plan was a new Defender 110 P400s one of the few big 4x4s with a real payload. But stuff happens and our current tow vehicle had a problem. The bank balance at the time didn't allow for the Defender and the one we wanted was an 8 month wait. I could have saved the extra in that time... But... that didn't solve the immediate need for a new tow vehicle. The requirement's were needed to be 3500kg towing with a good payload. Had to be a 6 pot diesel or petrol (the Defender was petrol). If you put aside brand bias and just look at the numbers and price the V6 Ranger is very hard to go past. So once the Ranger was decided on I had people saying it will take a year to get one. One morning on the phone ringing around CQ dealers (Not Gladstone) I found 3 ready to go. And one on the boat that was exactly the car we wanted. A Blue V6 Wildtrak with a factory fitted canopy and Premium Pack. to that I asked for an anderson plug and the ARB 140L long range tank. The Defender idea isn't dead but the Ranger will do for now.
@AnotherAusAdventure The Ranger is now with us. Like you we needed another hitch lucky for me I had one. The other thing I added was Road Active Suspension. Look it up.
Sorry guys but , I just unsubscribed … I’ll stick with my Ram …. Never bag other people’s rigs or the people that drive them , pretty disrespectful for newbies on the road
Hey Jay, thanks for watching again. It was! We actually preferred the look of the Everest but I believe the release date was after the Ranger and we just couldn’t wait that long with the delivery date of our van. Also, another big factor was that the GCM was a bit lower and we didn’t want to restrict ourselves if we didn’t need to.
You don’t know what you don’t know……I have a friend that has an American truck and his wife has the new V6 wild track ranger ,I asked him how they compare, his comment Was I forget when I get in the Ranger and I think what’s wrong with this thing, you can’t compare the two he said.
I have just sold my Next Gen Ranger V6 Diesel due to the tech doing my head in and the lack of room in the rear for the kids & as for the Tow/Haul mode that keeps it in a lower gear chewing the diesel I think the programming needs work Try the manual mode and you will save $$$ on fuel And as for the sledge Not nice as I purchased a Ram that has turned out to be a fantastic tow vehicle with heaps of room for the kids and no more beeping lol And the compensating comment Has hit me hard and I mean really hard The thought of having a small snake that would fit in my old Rangers tiny seat comfortable really turns me on 😊 I really do wish it did So not all Ram owners are purchasing for the reasons in your head It’s more of a necessity.
Hi, We’re in Goulburn for this video. There’ll be a review on it in the coming weeks! 2. Sometimes that’s an option. In our case the height still wouldn’t have been right, and you need to be mindful that not all tow tongues are rated to be used in both orientations, as is the case with the standard Ranger tow tongue.
@@AnotherAusAdventure Hi, it has been 3 months and no other videos have been released regarding the upgrade of the tow ball thong. can you please share more info about it
This has to be a joke. What is you rear axle rating? Can you tow a 4t van? I doubt it. The title should be the owners of these can't afford a US truck.
@@AnotherAusAdventure Hi, it has been 3 months and no other videos have been released regarding the upgrade of the tow ball thong. can you please share more info about it
@@comangus new video is out now. Sorry for the wait! It’s chaptered so you can skip straight to the section on the tow tongue upgrade. Have a nice week!
Fair enough! You might be surprised how much the next gen Ranger can carry with GCM and Rear axle loads though, you should check out our weigh-in video. Thanks for watching 😊
I’m interested in the numbers and happy to be corrected here. 23 XLT GCM 6400 GVM 3280 So at max tow weight the most the car can weight is 2900 Tare weight is 2267 define as Tare Weight includes the vehicle with 10L of fuel, without occupants, luggage or cargo and with the heaviest possible combination of factory fitted optional equipment included So payload available is 633 So assume a 300 ball weight That leaves 333 for luggage, me and the wife and 2 growing kids and a fuel tank of fuel……. Not much 🤷♂️ I’m 99kg kids would be 75-95kg combined, assume fuel would be 70kg approx and never reveal the missus weight but let’s assume 70 for a slender tall blonde 😜 Cutting it real fine, and that assumes the weights on the ford website are correct 😂
Not looking for an argument here, just need to ensure people understand what they are buying, pretty sure the Sport and WT AND premium are heavier, leaving even less payload; plenty of weight available for a couple or someone towing a lighter van however. Prefer my ram 2500 to tow our 3.9T Van with the family
