THICK AS THIEVES From the first time I saw the Genmitsu 4040 PRO I knew it looked like a baby Onefinity. With all of the cheap small routers that use 8mm unsupported rods that must flex like swamp-grass in the wind, this looked like a breath of fresh air. I am glad to hear it performs as well as it looks.
I really only see two ways forward after watching this video. 1. purchase a curtain. 2. spinoff series focused on the drama happening in the background office with the 2 random guys and the houseplant. seriously. opening scene. he's on his phone. who's he texting? did he see a cool insta post? did you just get a big order? I neeeeeeeed to know. how can I focus on cnc machines with such real life drama happening in the background? and James.... we expect a coming to America / wtf is this food video from you.
Thick as Thieves, A hat would be cool, I own the 4040 pro. Great video from 2 Awesome Makers. Wish I owned the Onefinity but have the 4040 pro.Keep up the great work. Video shared on my Facebook group.
Thick as Thieves. Thanks for the comparison. I'm in the 85% boat of buy once, cry once when it comes to tools. For things like this jumping in big with the $6k only to find out it isn't for you means cry a long time. Yes, you can always sell it but starting with a more affordable option, that still has quality is a great option to see if you are going to like it or not.
Thick as Thieves. Two of the nicest guys in CNC in the same place! There is certainly a place for a starter machine. 5 years ago I bought a 3d printer, thinking it would be the greatest thing ever. Just couldn't get into it with the cleanup of the projects. Glad I spent less than $500.
"Thick as Thieves" -love the onefinity videos and comparison. I'm new to CNC and considering jumping in....but don't want to buy and continuously upgrade and want large enough footprint to cut out parts....hope to join the community soon
"THICK AS THIEVES" ,The 4040pro is great for beginners and the price is reasonable. Onefinity is better suited for larger machining. Overall, each has its advantages. Very good video. Thank you.
Thick as thieves. I have the 4040 pro and it’s a great little machine. I really wanted to learn CNC before jumping in to something much more expensive. It’s a great little learning tool. I’m saving up for the onefinity. James was incredibly helpful with getting me going with the 4040pro.
Thick as Thieves, I like your videos and your support for the cnc community. I have the FoxAlien XE-PRO with the VCarve software. I'm really happy with it.

THICK AS THIEVES - One other item for comparison is portability and space needs vs what you plan on making. I have the original X35 Woodworker CNC. I would say that 90% of my projects could be done with the smaller 4040 machine. If you were only to do small scale items the Onefinity size may be overkill.
"THICK AS THIEVES" I really enjoyed your video. Iam currently researching the Onefinity CNC future purchase. It would be great to learn the software ahead of time.
THICK AS THIEVES. Thanks for all your videos, Your channel along with James Deans Channel have helped me when i got into CNC. Keep up the good work and thanks again for all your content !!!
Thick As Thieves, Just started my wood working journey last year, and would love to add a CNC to my small garage/shop. Great video, on showing the differences on high and low budget CNC machines.
I’ll enter, “THICK AS THIEVES”. Think this was a good comparison. Follow all of those appearing in the video. I personally don’t think the Onefinity is the “tippy top” of the hobby range, but it is definitely hobby and not higher grade. You can have a fire with an unattended Onefinity as easily any other machine, don’t know of any “safety feature” it has that would detect loose stock, overheating bit or smoldering due to improper feeds and speeds. See just as many people in the Onefinity group complaining as in Sainsmart groups, which shouldn’t be happening given the price difference.
Thick as Thieves! I have a Hobby Laser and have enjoyed it so much.... I'm definitely thinking a CNC would add the flexibility I need. This video gave me all the info without any of the "must have" pressure! Thank you!
Great video. Hopefully this is appropriate but would love for you guys to look into V1 Engineering and the Lowrider3 or just similar products. Its a mostly 3d printed cnc and you can get a full sheet build for about $1000. Great community and lots of innovation/upgrades.
Great video! I love James from James Dean Designs. I think each has their use. I wish I had the space for the Infinity, but with a 12x16 shop that is a full wood shop with 2 lasers and 2 cnc's stuffed in there as well - the reality is I couldn't fit in a Onefinity at this time. I hope to expand the wood shop by another 8-10 x 16 and once I do that, a bigger size makes total sense. Interestingly I own the Genimitsu 4040pro in the video and the Foxalien Masuter Pro (with extension). I love each of them. To be honest I have the space wall mounted and plan to buy 2 more machines specifically because even though they are way slower, I can have multiple projects going at 1 time. That allows me to do other things in the shop at the same time. Especially since I can fit multiple on the walls.... I mean if you have the different jobs, I could theoretically be doing 5 different jobs at the same time I do one on the Onefinity. You might think that doesn't sound good because it's all slower, "But" when things are custom, it keeps a good workflow keeping machines running while doing other things in the background. In addition having multiple machines means if one does go down for some reason, Others are still running. One thing I wish was covered that I might have missed though (and it is a big con for the small Genmitsu/Foxalien machines) is that you are more limited on z axis height than you think when you first get in. Now for machines like Fox Alien's - there are templates you can use to raise it up and double your z axis height, but it still isn't Onefinity. Lastly, I would say that teaching my kids on this has been easy as well.
Thick as thieves! For me, this was a very informative video! Last year i purchased the Shaper Origin. It is a great machine but not the tool for me. Currently, I'm considering the Shapeoko 5 Pro CNC Router with the spindle. It seems to be a good fit for me. At 81 years young, i don't have a lot of summers left. This is making harder to decide.
Thick as Thieves- I agree - just like photography- the best camera that you should have and use is the one that you are willing to carry and have at your finger tips.- The best CNC machine for you is the one that you will use and the one that fits your space... I love my OneFinity - but it wasn't cheap...
Thick as Thieves! Thanks for bringing these videos to us makers! Both of you bring a large excitement to this wonderful hobby and probably to the professional community as well!
Thick as Thieves! Thanks for the comparison and overview guys! Two of my most frequently watched CNCtubers. I've been trying to save for a onefinity for the better part of two years now, but unexpected expenes keep popping up so I might just have to settle for a budget machine like the sainsmart here to get my foot in the door. edit: I didn't know you were giving this away. Thanks for the giveaway!
thick as thieves I have the Sienci 30x30 with a Makita router and it does well. I'm still on the long side of the learning curve but getting there. I enjoy both of your channels. I'm curious as to why you both chose Carveco (vs those who swear by Vetric). Carveco does look more user friendly with a better UI - to me.
Thick As Thieves One day I hope to be able to afford either of those. I just begain my hobbyist woodworking journey and after watching your videos, I know a CNC will be a great add to my style of creativity. I still have my first Ender. Cheap but still fun.
I’ve looked at this small machine before I have a shark 520 but I’m looking for making end grain joints for boxes like dovetails or even crazy joint like the Batman symbol I saw someone do once! Can this $800 machine be setup for those primary functions if I build a vertical table through the center of the table setup
Thick as thieves - amazing information. Semi-retired and looking to enter the hobby market ( for money) lol. I a.sure after a week of watching all your videos - I will become informed!
Thick as thieves. I'm definitely someone more interested in the smaller machines since I really just want something that can make small pieces to complement 3D printing. The real issue is wanting to cut aluminum for things like brackets, which most of the cheaper hobby machines can't handle at all since you need a much sturdier frame than they tend to provide. It's really nice to see such rapid progress bringing CNC machines and 3D Printers from super expensive, even at the low end, machines that require a dedicated and knowledgeable operator to get anything done and now they're coming down to a few hundred dollars at the low end and accessible to a hobbyist.
Thick as thieves. I have been consider that little CNC shown. I converted a 3d printer to CNC with some luck making pcbs but need something a little more beefy. I have different brands in my cart but afraid to pull the trigger on any particular one.
Thick as thieves. This small CNC router is the perfect price point to explore whether cnc'ing is right for you. There are people that are accomplished woodworkers, but would be very uncomfortable with the computer design side. If you decide that cnc is not for you, the second hand market will allow you to recoup most of you investment into the machine.
"Thick as Thieves" i like these CNC comparisons, i dont own one, but would really like one, but i want something that could handle 4x8' sheets and im just not capable of that just now. with the prices of these coming down so much, having something smaller is probabl good enough to get a person by for a long time and be able to jump into the next level if and when the time comes.
Thick as thieves. i love it when my favorite content creators collaborate. ;) i have a 3'x4' kit-based cnc that i've been tinkering with for a while, and have been thinking of getting a small machine for smaller projects that don't need much space. that sainsmart looks interesting...
Thick as Thieves - really like your videos. I am trying to decide what I want to build before selecting the best machine for my future garage workshop.
Thick as Thieves! Other than the fact that my wife now knows how much our new machine is really costing us… fun video. Please don’t mention the cost of bits. PS- If I win the 4040, I will give it a test drive but then donate it to my wife’s tech school.
thick as thieves. this is the comparison that I was looking for. I have always been a tech girl but I cannot justify the price of the big CNC just yet. the small 4040 pro seems pretty sweet to get into the hobby.
Thick as Thieves. I love to see videos like this that compare how different machines work because although the Infinity seems to be a great machine, alas my budget says we won't be getting anything like that anytime soon. Keep up the great videos guys.
Watching this was enlightening. Right now i am in the dreaming_wishing phase of cnc. Winning the CNC machine would just plain awesome . And with me living in a long term retirement facility I will be able to find a small corner to set it up in. Thanks Thick as thieves
Thank you for the video. One of my goals with my CNC purchase is to be able to hang it on a wall when I’m not using it. Will hanging either of these on the wall when it’s not in use affect either the machines?
Thick as thieves. Just wondering how hard it is to pack the bearings on the 4040. That is if they are shipped "dry". Learned the hard way on my 3018, don't trust the factory lube. 3X on the shirts please.
