The Baltimore Orioles have been much more aggressive at the plate this season. It's led to less walks, but also more home runs. Host Connor Newcomb breaks down the pros and cons of the new approach and what it means for the Orioles moving forward.

I'm glad this topic of being too aggressive was finally brought up. I think last night was a good example. Lance Lynn at this point of his career is a mediocre pitcher. No pitcher has given up more homers since the start of last season. There's no reason to be aggressive against such a pitcher. I don't think it should be one or the other all the time. Maybe being aggressive works against certain pitchers but NOT against EVERYBODY. I heard Hyde talk about not being disciplined at the plate after Monday's game. Being too aggressive can be a disaster if it's not working because you're not even making the pitchers work. You should always make the pitchers work even if you don't get hits off them.

It CAN BE a problem in a game like last night and this entire series. The Cardinals pitchers have been using their agression against them. The Orioles hitters need to recognize this sooner in games like ladt night. They are making the Cardinals pitching look like they belong in the HOF.

Mullins, Mountcastle and Santander is hurting us with pop-ups, strike outs,, by not bringing home Baserunners consistently, they need to call hitting coach into Hyde’s office.

I’ve commented about this too. Last years Orioles were taking much more base on balls last year and setting the table to manufacture runs. This is lacking. We are becoming Buck’s Orioles again, relying on extra base hits or namely,solo home runs for runs. This philosophy needs reverse. Please get Gunnar out of the lead off spot and keep Some continuity in the lineup. Yesterday Westburg was batting cleanup.

Too too aggressive at the plate. No discipline. They constantly try to swing for the fences. Sometimes it works hence us leading in home runs. Problem is there’s not much situational hitting so lots of solo hr’s. But also way way too many strikeouts. I feel like a lot of this falls on the hitting coach. Point is, this sometimes works out during the season but an over aggressive approach in the playoffs generally doesn’t work. Especially when you’re facing the best of the best in pitching.

So well thought out…the pitching approach to the Os later in the season last year was to throw early strikes in the country. They will walk more…on-base percentage will come up.

That would be cool....how many days since he last pitch tho....it was only two ip but idk if cole has ro be rested extra days like starter still.....but i think cole starting this sususpended game will equal an oriole victory in game 2 and then the bats will say hello to gibson in game 3 book it! We are not ending our sweepless streak today...not today....not ever!!!!!!

Find it kinda sus they let Lynn do the top, but grounds crew just so happened to come out before Braddish got to hit the mound. I mean that is one way to get him out of the game, though nice will save his arm a bit.

Ummm we were all wrong....but i think many of ua saw that start last year and if he can ops .750 all year he is def a budding star if u factor defense in speed he is an elite guy

Mateo is a difference maker. Streaky though. I feel like he's still figuring it out hitting-wise.

If you had read comments about Mateo early in the season they were very negative . He is a tremendous defensive player with incredible speed. The hitting is a bonus. Most Orioles fans were wrong about him.

I’m sick of Hyde not letting the few guys that do get on base, not at least try to steal second or third. We as a team is not bringing them home . We stink right now. No one is doing much hitting with RISP

The Os 13-11 against teams under 500 yup we are such an amazing team with such great bats, I am getting tired of every pitcher looking like a Cy Young and how we cannot beat bad teams and I dont care how many home runs you have if it's one a game you are going to lose that game with this pen. The Orioles need to do something because they just legit look like crap. The bad record against bad teams show me that Hyde isn't managing the team well.

This type of get a man on and hoping for the big home run won’t get it this year, Hyde doesn’t even let his baserunners when they do get on attemp to steal, leaving runners stranded over n over. We’re about to get swept as a result by the damn Cardinals

I've been saying this all year. No discipline at the plate. Never working the counts. Chasing all the time. Westburg is the only one trying to work the count. Finally this guy sees a problem lol

The only thing that matters is how many runs you score. The rest is all window dressing. The Orioles are first in the AL in runs scored and 4th in all of baseball.

@@LockedOnOrioles I did. Still disagree on some of it. To me, I don’t think the more agressive approach bodes as much success in the playoffs. We saw a sample of that last October. Sure the long ball is a big aspect of winning in October but you need more men on base. I don’t feel like we do as much of the small ball stuff which in turn sets up the homerun being a much bigger aspect. My opinion of course
